AIBU or is dh a dickhead?

Dh got home before me, rang to see what to do for tea. I said pizza, potato and salad. Got home, he's cooked pizza and omelette so I asked where are the potatoes and salad? He replied he hadn't done them as he thought pizza and omelette would be enough. He got the pizza out of the oven, I said they're not quite cooked through. He flipped at this point, shouting that whenever he cooks I criticize him! Is it just me that thinks this is completely ott?!

'came' as a past tense of cum is just for traditionalists. Cummed is much much better.

Also available as a topping at selected stores.

ShinyAndNew · 11/09/2010 10:22

Last time DH did this to me I fed his chicken and rice to the dog. If he is nice enough to cook for you, you can at least be grateful.

AlCrowley · 11/09/2010 10:38

Dominos sell potato wedges to go with their pizza so it must be OK.

They do not sell Omelette

thisisyesterday - I would not be straight in there with the -you did this wrong, that's not right, you didn't do this...

Because if he did that to me, I would probably cry Grin and I am a believer in do unto others...

It is not necessary to walk in and launch into you did X wrong, you should have done Y, why isn't Z done... there are other ways.

The house is a mess, I thought you were going to do the ironing? why haven't you polished properly, I can see streaks...

Said the man to the sahm.

And the comments would be?...

And don't tell me they'd be well, you should have done it properly...

fruitstick · 11/09/2010 11:53

Dh and I have watched too much masterchef so we are always analysing our meals - this doesn't go etc.

But it's not the same as having a go at the chef.

Did you have eggs that needed using up?

Snorbs · 11/09/2010 12:19

But you can get pizza with egg cooked on it. Yum. I've never seen a pizza with potatoes on it as that would be Weird And Wrong.

Just13moreyearstogo · 11/09/2010 12:33

YABU and the fact that you think he's a dickhead says it all really.

Goblinchild · 11/09/2010 12:39

Proof that you should be responsible for all the housewife stuff and he should stop trying to be all 'New mannish' with a woman who doesn't appreciate it. He should have demanded that you make him pizza and omelette because that's what he fancied.
Do you supervise him with managing the children too? Gave my dad his DGD to hold when she was three days old, first time he'd been allowed that close to a baby under 4 months.
You do sound like a micromanager.

Goblinchild · 11/09/2010 12:40

What's the female version of dickhead?
Twat?
Cunthead?

thisisyesterday · 11/09/2010 12:44

no i agree that there are nicer ways of saying you;d rather not eat half-cooked pizza and that you were wondering what happened with the potatoes and salad

it's just the whole "oh he tried and that's what matters"

well... if you basically have a dinner you can't eat, then it isn't ok that he "tried"

he's a grown man. he is capable of cooking a sensible dinner, and i think if i got in and found that waiting for me i wouldn't be overjoyed that at least he had cooked!

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 11/09/2010 13:00

For future reference, the correct phrase to use WRT the undercooked pizza is; "I think this could just do with another couple of minutes, I'll pop it back in shall I?"

To be used in all cases of being served frozen/still-bleeding food.

If you can affect a look of surprise that implies it's the oven's fault, so much the better.

Claw3 · 11/09/2010 13:01

Vagina head i guess.

diddl · 11/09/2010 13:13

These men who can´t cook-did they go straight from Mummy to wife?

AlCrowley · 11/09/2010 15:31

Could be worse - a Pizza Burger

QOD · 11/09/2010 15:47

yanbu - I get quite mithered trying to explain to my dd that an accompaniment to pizza would not be a jacket potatoe with tuna, or 3 sausages etc.
It's just wrong on so many levels LOL - a pizza or the omelette are the main thing

ChippingIn · 11/09/2010 16:02

YANBU what was the point in phoning you to see what to cook for tea, then doing something different - that really annoys me, if you don't want to make what I want, then make what you want, but don't bloody ask me what I want, then do as you please - it makes me feel like you don't give a shit about me (this applies to many things, least of all dinner - one of the many reasons, EX is EX)!

Pizza & Omlette - very weird? Not sure what all the shock horror with pizza & potatoes is about either - it's just pizza & chips with less fat surely!

and as for all the 'you should be grateful he cooked you dinner' PAH - not it's a we combination & undercooked - he's a grown man FGS not a 7 year old having a go.

Mowgli1970 · 11/09/2010 16:13

Yes, I disagree that I should be grateful he cooked dinner for me - he got home first. I cook 99% of the time, whether I'm home first or last! But it seems I'm in the minority...

Those poor men. All they have to do is serve up something unappetising combined with something inedible, with no obvious nutritonal value, and all these women start complaining. Much better for the little wifey to do it herself.

massivemammaries · 11/09/2010 16:19

Bizarrely I really fancy pizza and omelette now

ChippingIn · 11/09/2010 16:23

Mowgli - nah, post the same thing on a Tuesday at 8pm and you'll get totally different replies Grin

YANBU Wink

BonniePrinceBilly · 11/09/2010 16:56

Does nobody else eat pizza and chips? Just me? Blush

mmmm carbs...! Grin

HecateQueenOfWitches · 11/09/2010 17:57

Thisisyesterday, there certainly are nicer ways than to walk in and launch into a list of criticisms.

deserved or not, it's not nice and it's not necessary.

Who would like to be on the receiving end of that? Not me.

thisisyesterday · 11/09/2010 18:00

i know. i never said that was ok or necessary did i

just that i thought it wasn't unreasonable of her to be pissed off

Mowgli1970 · 11/09/2010 18:21

BTW, I didn't walk in and launch into a list of criticisms. I was genuinely looking for the potatoes and salad - didn't ask in a "WELL WHERE ARE THEY GODDAMMIT?" manner.
