Artemis and Montgomery.

One or the other but both together was a bit much I thought.

Apologies if you are an MNer and you read this.

I do not understand adults mocking other peoples names. I thought only rude children did that?

lljkk · 04/09/2010 06:59

Welcome to the catty World that is Mumsnet, GTAmom.

NiceShoes · 04/09/2010 10:57

Unless it is really bad and made-up like Princess Tiaamii, then I really don't mind.

jillhastwoponies · 04/09/2010 13:17

Haven't had time to read the whole thread, but am assuming the OP has kids named something like Harley-Rae and Kayden?

lemonysweet · 04/09/2010 13:48

happiestblonde · 04/09/2010 17:24

I like Araminta, Arabella, Octavia and Pandora. But I am a MASSIVE Surrey-born ponce and proud of it :)

hmc · 04/09/2010 17:27

Good for you!

diddl · 04/09/2010 17:30

I wouldn´t call those names "poncy" at all.

sorrento56 · 04/09/2010 17:35

Would you have preferred it if they were called Montgomery and John/Frank/Ian/something plainer? Hmm

I have a friend called Temi and my Mum once wondered whether it was short for Artemis. It isn't, but it would be a nice nickname for it wouldn't it.

Personally would not call any of my DCs anything that rhymed with penis.

Jugglers · 05/09/2010 16:59

Grin@ LeQueen's post - v funny!!

meltedchocolate · 05/09/2010 17:09

haha LeQueen :o I have to agree that they are dreadful names. Each to their own.

ZZZenAgain · 05/09/2010 17:11

wonder what they would call a third child?

giveitago · 05/09/2010 17:45

Perception is the key - I think octavia and pandora are naff.

But then as an older first time mum we've managed to call our ds a name that no one else has but was fairly typical of the 80's. So back then might be a normal name, now a middle aged accountant springs to mind. And that's my son.

For me the the most horrible name is India - like I'd call my child dominican republic or something.

I personally like first testament names - not that my ds is called one.Saul is great I think.

My view is that we all like to call people 'chavs' but the main chav callers are the ones who give their kids really naff names.

HalfTermHero · 05/09/2010 17:51

Yanbu. Two quite shocking names. Poor kids.

HalfTermHero · 05/09/2010 17:52

And lol at Crufts remark Grin

TheOneInQuestion · 05/09/2010 21:41

To The OP.

I think it's quite disgusting that you started a thread like this slating, not a persons name but a name in general. My daughters name is Artemis and I think it is a lovely name. I would.

I don't know what you have called your children but it may be something I find boring, un-imaginative or just plain horribleness.

Each person likes different things and chooses a name for different reasons and for you to come on here slating it, isn't actually that funny and quite upsetting to those who have chosen the name you are slating

We ALL turn our noses up at other peoples names, but it's not our choice.

How about you share your childrens names so we can all have a good laugh at the real imaginative thought process you spent on choosing them??
