To think that a woman the other day had given her DC incredibly poncy names?

Artemis and Montgomery.

One or the other but both together was a bit much I thought.

Apologies if you are an MNer and you read this.

" I did go to school with a Porsche and a Mercedes which always made me giggle."
Sorry verytellytubby the pedant in me just has to point out that Mercedes is a traditional Spanish girl's name - the car was named after the daughter of Mr Benz (?).
Although I'm sure the parents of your schoolmates just fancied naming their kids after cars!!

ladette · 03/09/2010 23:59

was just going to write, my grandmother was Mercedes (Spanish).........

@OP - whilst I wouldn't have chosen Artemis or Montgomery for my DCs, who's to decide what is poncey and what isn't? I'd say each of us at the point at which we name our own DCs. I do see where you're coming from re those names - but their parents probably find them different, or classy, or classic. They might think your/my DC's names are common/chavvy/boring/whatever. So whilst I do agree with you, to a point, find it very odd that you started this thread tbh....

oldinboden · 04/09/2010 00:26

I have a spanish friend called Mercedes-beautiful name

Jugglers · 04/09/2010 00:34

I met an Atticus the other week. Had never previously known one (other than in fiction, natch) in RL or online.

However, do know a ginger cat called Dave!!

hmc · 04/09/2010 01:11

Yes these names are a bit poncey. Sure, expect she was a perfectly lovely person with perfectly lovely children who pays her taxes and all that, but yep - rather pretentious names.

What is with all these posters getting highly piqued at you mocking a complete stranger - whom they have never met, and was totally oblivious to your secret opinions???. Where is the harm done?

Weirdies!

scottishmummy · 04/09/2010 01:17

LOL,whats with aligning self to op whom never met,and proclaiming her to be spot on
