... to want to kill my husband for leaving our passports in a cab the night before we fly to a wedding abroad?

I don't think I have ever been as angry with another human being as I am now. I know it was an accident. But there are accidents and accidents. If you have your passports in a bag you make damn sure they are the ONLY thing you keep your hands on in a taxi and you do not get out without them.

This was the biggest and most glam wedding I had ever been invited to; I don't do many social things and had been looking forward to this for weeks and weeks. I know there are more important things in life but it's such an unneccessary mistake and I am so upset right now.

He feels terrible and i want him to. (can't help it) :(

And it's true - I got back from work and she's almost on her way! Great stuff x

Hurrah for Mumsnet!

KickArseQueen · 02/09/2010 21:56

Sooooo glad that you got new passports Emerald, I finally crashed last night thinking you would be stuck here!

Sorry for dragging you over DP Smile you did make both threads all warm and fuzzy tho Grin

BootyMum · 02/09/2010 22:18

Good luck Emerald Smile

Good news.Leaving passports in a taxi is the sort of stupid thing I can imagine doing. Keeping them in my hand rather than putting them in a bag to keep them "extra safe" and then absent mindedly putting them down and forgetting to pick them up again because I don't normally carry things in my hand..

daftpunk · 03/09/2010 07:30

KAQ.....No worries, I was probably about 12 hours late picking up the call out...but did what I could

.. and what's all this warm & fuzzy stuff of which you speak ?

(( I have my moments..Wink))

Just glad all sorted in the end.

sunnydelight · 03/09/2010 08:34

Oh wonderful! Coming to this late due to the time difference (am down under), hope you have a FANTASTIC time Smile

how was the wedding?

emeraldgirl1 · 11/09/2010 09:56

Update for all the lovely MNers who followed this and kept me calm:

the wedding was AMAZING. Service at sunset, a lot of booze and great food, and dancing til almost dawn to proper cheesy pop and Greek folk music...

I think I appreciated it all the more for so nearly missing it. Many a merry tale was told over (lots of...) drinks about the whole saga, including everyone on here who offered help, advice, and just general kindness. Rotten hangover the next morning was all worth it (just about - is it just me or do hangovers get more horrendous the older you get?)

I've said it before but just want to say again - a huge huge THANK YOU! :)

Oh and daftpunk - I literally only just got your message - what an unbelievably sweet and generous offer from you and your DH... you are lovely!! How I would have loved to have taken you up on it, not because it would have been free, but because it would have been one of the nicest things anyone's ever done for me!!

Sorry I didn't get the message in time - ironically we are in SW London so it would have been possible...

That really was such an unbeliveably nice thing to offer - THANK YOU DP!!! xx

Fantastic, I lurked on this thread at the time and was wondering if it all went well. Grin

mummytime · 11/09/2010 10:42

Oh this is a wonderful end to the story!

DryYourEyesMate · 11/09/2010 22:54

Thanks for the update Smile

Great ending!

Tiredmumno1 · 11/09/2010 23:10

Thanks for coming back on to tell us.

What a lovely ending, i am so glad you had a great time.

Well except the hangover bit Grin

Just13moreyearstogo · 11/09/2010 23:14

I'm so glad it all ended well.

I found a passport in a black cab a few weeks ago, took it home and called the contact number in it. The passport owner's mum gave me her daughter's mobile number and I managed to return it to the girl by the end of the day. So do remember to have an up-to-date contact number at the back of your passport, just in case!!

oh so glad this had a happy outcome and that DH's balls are intact (my DH's probably wouldn' be if he'd done the same thing)
I second putting in your contact details though - might have helped!

(hmc - matricide is killing your mother, not your matrimonial partner)

thumbwitch · 11/09/2010 23:32

hmc again - just checked, you were after the word mariticide. :)
