to think grown women, anyone over the age of about 16 actually, expressing lustful thoughts for actors/celebrities or men in the public eye, are just ridiculous?

How can you fancy someone you have never even met?

Surely that is the realm of tweenagers, teenagers or stalkers!

I do find it very hard to stomach when supposedly intelligent adult women go all silly over some sleb or other, whether its Jeremy Paxman or Michael Buble or Robert Pattinson or Brian Cox ... or whoever.

PosieParker · 31/08/2010 20:14

I do find some slebs attractive but not fancy any or have a crush and wouldn't confess in the street!!

southeastastra · 31/08/2010 20:15

oh it's fun, don't be such a mis

DreamTeamGirl · 31/08/2010 20:16

oooh I dont know. There was a very long time when the sight of Leonardo Di Carpio as Romeo sent me weak at the knees

I admitted it in public too :)

autodidact · 31/08/2010 20:19

I like a nice lust after someone unattainable whom I can admire from afar and imbue with wonderful projected characteristics. Different kind of pleasure from that you get from maintaining a love relationship based on reality.

Emo76 · 31/08/2010 20:19

Is this related to the John McCrickick thread?

AMumInScotland · 31/08/2010 20:19

Nothing wrong in rating a celebrity as attractive, and fancying them, IMHO, so long as they don't get weird and obsessive about it. Grown men are allowed to think actresses/sngers/models are attractive. Women aren't really any different, are they?

I certainly feel a certain something at some blokes on tv/films - I'm not going to send them my knockers in the post or send hate mail to their girlfriends because of it.

sanielle · 31/08/2010 20:19

YABU, Attraction isn't so simple as what should or shouldnt be. I fancy totally inappropriately people in real life too.

AMumInScotland · 31/08/2010 20:20

Or even my knickers

CrunchyFrog · 31/08/2010 20:20

PMSL at knockers in the post!

Itsjustafleshwound · 31/08/2010 20:21

It is daft...

But then, so is a fat middle aged man lusting after some scantily-clad popette ...

MillyR · 31/08/2010 20:23

YABU.

It is really good fun.

massivehead · 31/08/2010 20:25

jesus : )

deaddei · 31/08/2010 20:27

YABU.
I have several.

MrsMadWriggle · 31/08/2010 20:27

It's just a nice treat for the eyes. I know they really won't be attracted to a middle aged old hag like me.

MillyR · 31/08/2010 20:28

MH, are you saying that the man in the public eye that you lust after is Jesus?

massivehead · 31/08/2010 20:29

I suppose though,in fairness to the op , there is a difference between fancying a character in a show and actually fancying the real life person who plays the character.

HeavenForfend · 31/08/2010 20:29

I don't see why this would bother anyone. What harm is it doing? YABU and a bit of a killjoy.

HeavenForfend · 31/08/2010 20:30

Mind you, those people texting Brian Cox's wife saying they hoped she died so they could have him were being VU.

Don't condone that kind of thing at all.

massivehead · 31/08/2010 20:31

Yes MillyR the most famous man of all.I know where he lives.

hormonesnomore · 31/08/2010 20:31

I don't care how 'ridiculous' you think I am, at the moment I am lusting after the male judge on the Great British Bake Off. He's gorgeous.

YABU

Stop being such a misery guts. I like lusting after all different types of men. Ones on telly, ones on the street, ones in magazines. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

oh, and DP of course Blush

AMumInScotland · 31/08/2010 20:32

Expressing lustful thoughts about Jesus would probably count as a bit odd - you're not meant to "love" him in quite that way ;)

2shoes · 31/08/2010 20:33

YABU
I will continue my crush on m shadows thank you very much
it is only a bit of fun ffs

MollieO · 31/08/2010 20:33

I don't have a crush on Jeremy Paxman. He is far too obtainable - I've met him and I know where he lives. He is very tall and charming though.

Instead I target those celebs I am never likely to meet. Why spoil a fantasy with what will probably be pretty dull in reality? Grin
