to think grown women, anyone over the age of about 16 actually, expressing lustful thoughts for actors/celebrities or men in the public eye, are just ridiculous?

How can you fancy someone you have never even met?

Surely that is the realm of tweenagers, teenagers or stalkers!

I do find it very hard to stomach when supposedly intelligent adult women go all silly over some sleb or other, whether its Jeremy Paxman or Michael Buble or Robert Pattinson or Brian Cox ... or whoever.

I remember when I was about 13 and romeo and juliet was out my friend and I were mad on Leo Di Caprio. Her mum was too and she ripped a picture out of 1 of our magazines and hung it above her and my friends dads bed.

It was there for months and we thought it was amusing. Looking back though they must have been having sex for months with that pic above their bed and once I thought of that it used to make me laugh even more! That is a true obsession.

Morloth · 31/08/2010 20:53

puddlepuss · 31/08/2010 20:58

Dh wouldn't ever get any if I didn't feel my pants heat up watching tv in the evenings Grin

2shoes · 31/08/2010 21:01

sorky that is m shadows, lead singer with avenged sevenfold

nameymcnamechange · 31/08/2010 21:09

Hmmm. I am a killjoy, then.

But ... but ...

When you fancy a sleb or someone from the telly then you are just fancying the way they look? And that's just a wee bit nonsense, isn't it?

OP posts:
MillyR · 31/08/2010 21:11

NmNC, no, you either use their character's personality or you invent them an ideal personality.

sorky · 31/08/2010 21:11

Do you not fantasise about anyone then Namey?

Surely, thats the weird bit?!?

AMumInScotland · 31/08/2010 21:15

Like MillyR - you extrapolate their character from the character(s) you've seen them play, but their looks are part of it too. It's not like a real relationship, and it's not meant to be!

SalFresco · 31/08/2010 21:15

I had a sex dream once about Johnny Depp. It was amazing. I also had one about Simon Cowell and can report that he is an excellent lover. I felt a bit embarassed next time I saw him on X-Factor, like I had't called him after our great night of sex and had now bumped into him somewhere. DH thinks I am mad.

nameymcnamechange · 31/08/2010 21:17

Sorky - this is my secret sleb crush! I am clearly not a very visual person Grin. I cannot be at all interested in any person based on looks alone. Why can't everyone be more like meeeeeeee? fgs!

EightiesChick · 31/08/2010 21:19

Taken too far, and by that I mean writing them letters, doodling your first name and their second name on your pad at work, or leaving your DH/P just in case when you hear they've split up with their partner, then yes, it is sad.

But as a simple object of lust to brighten up the daily routine, then YABU. How joyless life would be without the ability to do this from time to time!

Morloth · 31/08/2010 21:19

Well namey talking isn't exactly what I have in mind when I see a shot like this.

EsmeDiamond · 31/08/2010 21:20

You sound really dull OP Grin.

For me Robert Pattinson sends me into all of a lather and I used to go jogging regularly round Barnes in the hope of running into him!

CatIsSleepy · 31/08/2010 21:20

oh namey
don't be such a misery Grin
i had a very nice dream about david tennant once

what's silly about fancying someone?

TheBolter · 31/08/2010 21:21

I find certain slebs attractive but have never gone so far as to majorly fancy any of them. I have to get to know them first.

BitOfFun · 31/08/2010 21:22

The slebs that I admire and like the idea of usually remind me of my DP in some way. I think that gets me off the hook.

Morloth · 31/08/2010 21:22

Robert Pattison and the Puppy just make me want to find a decent clean t-shirt for the boy and make him a sandwich and a cup of warm milk.

emmyloulou · 31/08/2010 21:24

Yes it's all shallow nonsense but meh.

Having rudey dreams about celebs is far better than having rude dreams about the postie/neighbour/DH boss and having to face them in RL, when you don't even have a conscious crush on them Blush

spiritmum · 31/08/2010 21:24

Can I just say to everyone who fancies him that Duncan Bannatyne gets really cross if you get his name wrong.
