My little boy has recently been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I was totally heartbroken when we found out! Since then when people have offered him sweets/at partys/in shops, when I have to tell people he can't have things and why, This is usually followed by chubbie thirty to fifty year olds moaning to me that they or a relative have type 2 diabetes and how hard it is for them!

Type 2 is self inflicted.... btw..
I am soo angry that this has happened to my son.... He is only 4 (through no fault of his own Or anyone else) I just want to shout at them to shut up,stop eating so much shit and move around a bit more!!

This may not make sense, but AIBU?

My husband diagnosed with type 2, 4 years ago, out of the blue, he was never overweight! You can get diabetes type 2 triggered by a virus. There is no one else in his family with it.

Sugarray I don't know if you're being unreasonable but your attitude is certainly vile.

Shame on you!

A person may or may not have self inflicted Type II diabetes but who cares? True they shouldn't try to give your child sweets but when they share that they have type II diabetes they are empathising, something that seems to currently be beyond you!

Sure, your child has diabetes (type I, as you're keen to let the world know in no uncertain terms) and for that you have my sympathy, but do you know what? The world isn't fair. People and children die or have terrible illnesses, some people can't even have children.

Some people over eat as a result of personal problems (i.e. physical or mental abuse) and yes, it's easy to say 'you're fat, eat less and move more, you brought on your own problems' but how do you know what causes them to contantly over eat.

As I've said before I find your attitude to be completely unsympathetic.
I'm choosing to assume that you were having a 'moment' and that you don't really mean what you said.

I would guess that Camilla Batmaghelidjh of Kids Company is a better person and one who does more good in the world than most of us (all of us?). But gosh, she's overweight, so must be bad....
