To be angry that 30 year old fatties are moaning!?!

My little boy has recently been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I was totally heartbroken when we found out! Since then when people have offered him sweets/at partys/in shops, when I have to tell people he can't have things and why, This is usually followed by chubbie thirty to fifty year olds moaning to me that they or a relative have type 2 diabetes and how hard it is for them!

Type 2 is self inflicted.... btw..
I am soo angry that this has happened to my son.... He is only 4 (through no fault of his own Or anyone else) I just want to shout at them to shut up,stop eating so much shit and move around a bit more!!

This may not make sense, but AIBU?

yeah it is

SoupDragon · 25/08/2010 19:00

Try to use the right words. It's really quite simple. As simple as how fat people should just eat less. Wink

ivykaty44 · 25/08/2010 19:01

It would be rare to ever happen with type two - it can but rarely as it is different - type one don't produce insulin at all

A long tiem ago I read up a lot about this and it was the one thing that sruck me over the pear drops smell.

As for honsety, I like it when soemone is honest as then when they give praise I know it is real, some give far to much and it begins to lose its effect.

There are some very odd coments on this thread about being think or slim - there is nothing at all worng with being a sensible weight and being slim and slim people don't all obssesse about food or being slim - they do have lives and plenty of life

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/08/2010 19:02

well fat people don't all obsess about food either, and also have lives and plenty of life!

RubyBuckleberry · 25/08/2010 19:05

imarried, i have read the thread but without an in detail breakdown of your nephews life, it would be silly for me to comment. i understand you feeling defensive about his position. i can only imagine how galling it must be to have a member of your family taunted for something that isn't his fault.

everything is everything you are absolutely right and on further research, the shimshal people are not as healthy as channel 4 had me believe, although it is true that they don't have the big 'lifestyle' diseases that kill people like we do, mainly down to their diet and exercise (climbing K2 for a start Hmm)

and puddlepuss that must be awful. but again, i don't know your personal life story so it is difficult to comment accurately.

all i am saying is that there are many many people out there who could eat less sugar, fewer carbs, fewer 'lower fat' alternatives, more fat, more protein, more raw vegetables and fruit and do ALOT more exercise and they would be healthier.

the PCOS comment also was not entirely accurate - but it can be controlled with diet as i understand it (that is what i meant), and all those people on that show start of fat, sweaty, spotty, breathless, unfit and unhappy and finish it shiny haired, active, slim, good skinned and most importantly, inspired and motivated to carry on and change their lives for the better.

and going against what i said earlier, having re-read the OP as i thought i was going totally of the point of the thread, as far as her anger goes, it must be annoying for her to see fat 30 year olds with self inflicted type 2 diabetes whining and moaning about how hard it is when her son has ended up with a life-long disease through no fault of his own. i can totally see her point.

I recall a party when someone looked over at a larger lady and said.
'I know it's awful but I really can't abide people who let themse;ves go like that.

Me: 'I'm worse. I can't abide thick people, and at leats that lady over there can change her weight.'

We once fostered a lad on stearoids who was very overweight. He only ate baby food and bananas as he had ASD. Twas most definitely the drugs.

ivykaty44 · 25/08/2010 19:19

fanjo - I shouldn't think they do but why all the slim bashing?

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 25/08/2010 19:19

Spot on, Litchick - as I said earlier, I can lose weight - but can kittywise ever lose the judgemental arrogance and become a nice person?

I note that kittywise hasn't seen fit to answer my earlier point - that in her disgust at we fatties, she may be missing out on knowing some lovely, intelligent, caring, funny, generous people.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/08/2010 19:21

i never do any slim bashing. I do bashing of slim people who feel the need to tell non-slim people to lose weight!

happiestblonde · 25/08/2010 19:24

YANBU

It's also your taxes that are paying for weight loss treatment on the NHS, the medication for diet related illnesses, heart problems etc.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/08/2010 19:25

yes, fat people should pay more tax! Hmm

RubyBuckleberry · 25/08/2010 19:25

"Well, I just thought I'd check in to see how the ignorant twats were doing and it seems they're great! Fab! Having looked at a certain someone's picture I think she's actually just jealous of people who have a shape to their body. I'd hate to have no tits and be confused for a man all the time. Ho hum..."

oh my life, puddlepuss, why do you feel the need to say horrible things like that????? so personal! so bitter! saucer of milk for you!

Litchick · 25/08/2010 19:28

I think because that person was being very mean about other people's appearances. And if you do that, you'd better be darn hot yerself, no?

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/08/2010 19:33

kittywise has made her photos private

kittywise · 25/08/2010 19:33

oh dear puddlepuss, I think you have really bad self esteem issues, I'm sorrySad. I am, not being sarcastic actually.

puddlepuss · 25/08/2010 19:33

Rubybuckleberry, I was typing that when your post came up so I hadn't seen it and I can assure you, my comment wasn't aimed at you. It's a genuine comment though, I'd hate to have no tits! Thank you for your sympathy (NOT sarcastic - I wish you could express intonations while typing)

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/08/2010 19:33

i wonder why she would have self-esteem issues... Hmm

RubyBuckleberry · 25/08/2010 19:33

wasn't she talking about the morbidly obese - are they nice to look at? the epitomy of beauty? gorgeousness embodied? or not even as far as that - what a human being should be like? i don't think they are particularly nice to look at. don't get me wrong, there are beautiful larger people - beautiful for many reasons - looks or not, but the morbidly obese just inspire pity and a bit of an eugh reaction! i don't think her saying that is reason to look at a photo of her and say things like that. its too personal and shows that puddlepuss is taking this conversation way too personally. or she has ishoos, as they say.

RubyBuckleberry · 25/08/2010 19:35

i know your comment wasn't aimed at me - i don't have any pictures on mumsnet Confused.

kittywise · 25/08/2010 19:35

Yes I have, love to know how on earth anyone has managed to make any kind of picture about my stature from the one that was there though.
Still, I think there is some desperation here from some posters and a lot of sadness too. I'm glad I don't feel the need for personal insults.

RubyBuckleberry · 25/08/2010 19:35

oh, the ignorant twats thing... getting confused now, sorry!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/08/2010 19:36

"but the morbidly obese just inspire pity and a bit of an eugh reaction"

Only in totally shallow people.
