My little boy has recently been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I was totally heartbroken when we found out! Since then when people have offered him sweets/at partys/in shops, when I have to tell people he can't have things and why, This is usually followed by chubbie thirty to fifty year olds moaning to me that they or a relative have type 2 diabetes and how hard it is for them!

Type 2 is self inflicted.... btw..
I am soo angry that this has happened to my son.... He is only 4 (through no fault of his own Or anyone else) I just want to shout at them to shut up,stop eating so much shit and move around a bit more!!

This may not make sense, but AIBU?

Kitty, Yes I do have self esteem issues. luckilly though, I don't know you so I'm not completely in the gutter yet.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/08/2010 19:39

people's weight does not have any effect on how valuable they are as people..I know some fantastic obese people and some fantastic slim people.

puddlepuss · 25/08/2010 19:40

I'm fairly sure I didn't mention anyone's name so who has the issues now? Jumping to conclusions...

RubyBuckleberry · 25/08/2010 19:40

why is it totally shallow to pity someone who has to carry all that weight around, puff up and down stairs, and generally do their whole body no end of damage from carrying the equivalent to a few sacks of potatoes rond with them all day every day. it must be a living hell frankly.

kittywise · 25/08/2010 19:41

Oh I don't know puddlepuss, I'd say you got down there a while back. As I say, it takes the very insecure to throw personal insults. Hit a nerve there, with whatever issues you have with your weight puddlepuss, I think

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/08/2010 19:42

you said they "JUST" inspire pity and an "eugh" reaction..that's pretty shallow to me!!

RubyBuckleberry · 25/08/2010 19:42

eh? haha oh i see, you think that i think you meant me with the ignorant twat thing... clever lol... clearly i also have ishhooooos lol

Litchick · 25/08/2010 19:43

No honestly, it doesn't take someone insecure.
I'm a fab size twelve. I'm blonde and have good skin. I could go on...
I have no ishooos.
And I think you come over as a heartless twat Kitty.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/08/2010 19:44

you two are not really doing yourself any favours here...but carry on bitching like schoolkids, it's quite amusing...

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/08/2010 19:44

yup, am not obese and agree with Litchick re Kitty too

edam · 25/08/2010 19:45

Thing is, all the medical evidence shows it's very hard to lose weight and keep it off for good. Most diets fail. Within a year or two, the dieter has piled all the original weight back on again with a little extra on top.

Depressing but true across populations and studies...

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/08/2010 19:45

I x-posted, of course I meant kitty and ruby were bitching.

RubyBuckleberry · 25/08/2010 19:45

sorry fanjo, i see what you are getting at but it is semantics really - the use of the word 'just' is dodgy you are right. i suppose if i don't know them and i see them then i pity them. and sometimes when they have a big roll of fat hanging down by their knees it is not exactly going to make me think phwoar is it???

kittywise · 25/08/2010 19:45

yeah and I think you come across as an idiot frankly, so what? What does that further? I'm glad for you and you size 12ness. Odd.

one of my favourite people in the world is that size...I just see her and think "there is my friend".

Litchick · 25/08/2010 19:47

Yup that's me...a complete dolt.
But I aint the one who has 'drinking' down as a hobby.

kittywise · 25/08/2010 19:47

she doesn't know me, you couldn't miss her could you. She can't even walk properly now. it's such a shame.

kittywise · 25/08/2010 19:48

hey litchick, glad you're taking SUCH an interest in me. Are you an old size 12 or a new size 12, they have changed over the years you know?

puddlepuss · 25/08/2010 19:48

Have I denied I have an issue with my weight? No. Did I mention any names? No.

RubyBuckleberry · 25/08/2010 19:49

that is because you know her fanjo, that is very different.

you're telling me you never judge anyone, even for a moment before you remind yourself there might be a story behind it?

kittywise · 25/08/2010 19:50

if you have an issue with your weight you should deal with it and not take it out on me.

RubyBuckleberry · 25/08/2010 19:50

are you talking to me again puddlepuss??? Confused

Ruby- if I ever did, I would do it secretly, be ashamed of it, and not trumpet it all over the place proudly.
