MN is quite happy to let innacurate thread titles be posted that could promote discrimination against disabled children and their famillies

EVERYTHING silverfrog said.... couldn't agree more

silverfrog · 24/08/2010 22:21

oh, i was only bothered aboutt he sweets because dd1 cannot have any colours.flavourings/gelatin/you name it really.

plays havoc with herr digestion and leaves her in pain for days.

clearly dh & I are not against vile over-coloured, over-flavoured sweets - that's why I was there (with hands full!) in the first place Grin

sadly this thread is just bringing the very people who cause the problem out of the wood work.
I wish mn hq would take a bloody stand once and for all.

have we been invade by trolls from another site,
as there seem some very odd posts on here

Glitterknickaz · 24/08/2010 22:27

As you prove ours.
Very ineloquently.

"Breton-you should be ashamed of yourself.
Like I said before, what makes you think that you are in position to talk about ADHD, when clearly you don?t have a clue what ADHD means for each individual."

Well by that logic none of us should express an opinion about anything unless we have direct experience of that particular topic/issue.

What a dull world that would be!

Breton1900 · 24/08/2010 22:33

arsani: I should also point out that no one individual can understand the experiences of every other individual. It's a logical nonsense.

LadyBiscuit · 24/08/2010 22:33

Why is it very foolish to be upset that your children are deemed not to be the people you know them to be ccpccp? Seems a very appropriate reaction to me

SlubberOnAMission · 24/08/2010 22:34

silverfrog you have my greatests sympathy and I understand how all consuming caring for someone with a disability is.

But you can walk away from mn. Really you can. You don't have to battle it out on here. I'm not sure leaving things unchallenged is silently condoning them tbh.

loopyloops · 24/08/2010 22:36

Any associated field.

What are your qualifications or experiences that can be linked in any way?

silverfrog · 24/08/2010 22:38

oh, i do, slubber, at times.

and I don't click on threads if I am not in a place to cope with them.

and I try not to get sucked into answering every ridiculous "see? they haven't come back to answer my latest fatuous post. I must be right" crowing.

but sometimes,

it's better to try to reason. at least then the rational side of the discussion is there for others to read too.

(and sometimes it is very cathartic to rant at strangers who clearly have no clue about anyhting Smile)

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 24/08/2010 22:38

I think that some people are genuinely and understandably upset by and offended by some of the threads on SN.

I don't think that is sufficient reason to pull a thread.

One of the things about mumsnet is that the moderation is very light touch. Particularly in AIBU. This is one of the things that people like about it, and was one of the significant differentiators in the netmums thread earlier.

I think unless a post or a thread is a personal attack or illegal it should stand.

That should be the rule for AIBU/Politics other forums like that. I think stricter standards should apply in the support forums.

silverfrog · 24/08/2010 22:40

but that's not the criteria applied across the board, TCNY.

there are many threads that are started, get a few posts in and someone says "massively insensitve, I'd get it pulle dif I were you" and poof! off it goes.

but that doesn't happen when the thread is about SN, and the people insulted and offended (in the majority) are parents of children with SN

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 24/08/2010 22:42

Silverfrog - that's the poster getting it pulled rather than being moderated, which is a different thing.

What are you talking about LadyBiscuit? Show me where posters are saying that and I'll report them myself.

As I've said before, too many people becoming emotionally invested on an internet thread.

And now I see Swedish post has been deleted. Maybe if you righteous internet warriors can convince Breton to use the C word in posts you can get those deleted too?

Its worth putting up with Bretons shit to watch you lot pop with impotent fury.

Anyway - off to read the ADHD thread which is at 1005 posts now. I love AIBU :)

SlubberOnAMission · 24/08/2010 22:51

lol @ the cathartic rant.

I am quite unable to cathartically rant hence pets and camping chats only.

I do admire those who try to reason, especially when there is full frontal trolling going on. I worry sometimes that folk will get so wrung out with the reasoning on here that they are like some dessicated husk by the time they switch the pc off to go and put the tea on.

bullet234 · 24/08/2010 22:53

You know what? I don't give a flying fuck what people say about me. They can make all the wrongful judgements they want about me. But it's a different matter when it comes to my children. Because my children can't defend themselves against bullies, they can't advocate for themselves, they can't stop the prejudices and ignorance and downright bile that some people see fit to exhibit.

loopyloops · 24/08/2010 22:53

lol @ dessicated husk! Grin

Breton, credentials...?
