MN is quite happy to let innacurate thread titles be posted that could promote discrimination against disabled children and their famillies

Well done MNHQ, and thanks.

Glitterknickaz · 25/08/2010 17:51

waits for poster by name of Bretagne or something similarly stupid to register

Glitterknickaz · 25/08/2010 17:52

sorry that wasn't meant to all be bold

pagwatch · 25/08/2010 17:54

thank you Justine

I think this thread has been challenging and certainly remains full of people with very different views. But most are trying to discuss . Breton was only trying to goad.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 25/08/2010 17:55

Hurrah MNHQ but unfortunately i suspect he may be back. People like him often aren't happy unless they piss people off

silverfrog · 25/08/2010 18:08

thanks Justine.

bumder · 25/08/2010 18:20

Breton a number of people who DO have experience of ADHD/ADD diagnoses have explained to you that bad parenting is one of the first things that is looked into before a diagnosis is given. That coupled with the fact that many parents have NT and ADD/ADHD kids surely kills any legitimate argument that you have. The fact that you have "evidence" means nothing. There are scientists who believe that global warming doesn't exist, that the twin towers were brought down by the US government, that smoking isn't linked to cancer and that HIV doesn't cause AIDS. Intelligent, sensible people, however, look to the consensus rather than crackpot conspiracy theories.
If you are actually a teacher rather than an attention-seeking weirdo you should be ashamed of yourself - I very much doubt you are following guidelines and fulfilling your duty of care to SN kids in your school.

I hope Mary is OK shame it came to this to get it recognised what harm certain posters are doing.

Thank you, MNHQ, not for the suspension of Breton1900 itself, but for the message it sends out.

Claw3 · 25/08/2010 19:10

Pigletmania, did you say your dd has been diagnosed with ODD?

Claw3 · 25/08/2010 19:11

Oh dear, just read some more of the thread, not sure what happened, but i can guess, hope you are ok Mary.

pigletmania · 25/08/2010 19:18

No she haent but has had behavioural issues as a result of poor communication, she is going to be seen by Ed psych and is seeing the SALT and we have seen great progerss which is good. This week has been good, as her communication is improving her behaviour is much better. I still havent had good sleep for 3.6 years though. I really did not want to offend anybody and that was not my intention and apologise, just challenging the term of ODD

pigletmania · 25/08/2010 19:21

dd has problems with social communicaiton, but with the help of the SALT she is getting so much better in social situations and making converstaions. The Ed psych will assess to see what stratergies can be done at pre school as that is where her communicaiton really struggles. Its a different environment, with more confident communicators and lots of additional stimuli which i think can overwhelm her a bit. She is a very young developmentally 3 year old.

Claw3 · 25/08/2010 19:24

Oh right, i thought i read earlier in the thread that you said your dd has it.

Apologises, i didnt read the thread properly, just skimmed through.

It is exceptionally rare for a child, to have only ODD. It is a common pattern of comorbidity with other disorders, especially ADHD.

Glad your dd is improving and doing well. If i remember rightly, i remember your thread a while back about the nursery and wanting to refer her to SENCO or something along those lines?

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/08/2010 19:32

no, piglet joked that her DD has ODD because she has normal 3 year old stubbornness.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/08/2010 19:32

but I don't think she meant to be offensive so no hard feelings. Smile

Claw3 · 25/08/2010 19:38

That explains it, i saw a reply saying my dd has it, wasnt sure if Piglet was referring to ODD as just skim reading.

Then i thought i remembered a thread from a while back and thought Piglet's dd had received a diagnosis.

I put 2 and 2 together and made 5!

I have only read this last page but nothing is as important as free speech. We want to live in a country where we are prepared to die to enable those whose views we detest have the right to express them, whether that's leaving babies to cry or never them them away from your body 24/7, whether that's breastfeeding on demand or bottle feeding rules, whether that's black is white or disability doesn't exist or whatever.

What in summary was said which led to a ban? Anyway I didn't read it but I'm pretty glad I can live in a country where we are free to express views even if that upsets some people.

Heathcliffscathy · 25/08/2010 20:26

xenia, I agree that banning isn't the right way to go. ignore him. argue with him. swear at him. but banning him means he wins and we lose I'm afraid.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/08/2010 20:40

he wasn't banned for his views but for constant inflammatory goading, which is against mumsnet terms

pagwatch · 25/08/2010 21:20

it might be sensible then to read the thread .

And perhaps also read the previous inflamatory and deliberately antagonistic thread that preceeded this one before we all link arms and march for freedom of speech....or the right to be continuously offensive and goad the parents and carers of people with special needs.

ccpccp · 25/08/2010 21:24

Well done!

24 pages and you FINALLY got rid of him. Bet you're all proud now.

If Maryz was a genuine poster then you are as much to blame for her state of distress as Breton was. You made this an issue when you should have just ignored him.

Mind you, goes to show that a campaign of tattling to MNHQ and throwing toys out of the pram sometimes does get results.
