OP posts:
loopyloops · 25/08/2010 17:16

We're all here backing you up Mary, following the thread and know what you wrote. We all feel the same apart from the ignorant eejits who have made themselves clear. Your posts will just be reiterated by others anyway.
I think it's fine to tell him to fuck off, because he should as he is clearly an ignorant nobber.

pigletmania · 25/08/2010 17:16

Surley if its that extreme its classed as ADHD, what is this additional lable needed. I am speaking as someone who has spld and dyspraxia myself.

2shoes · 25/08/2010 17:17

mary report the troll

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/08/2010 17:18

piglet - because it's a different condition!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/08/2010 17:18

mary seriously, hide the thread..go away and do something nice for yourself, it's not worth getting upset over someone typing utter nonsense online, seriously!! Hate to see you so clearly upset!

tethersend · 25/08/2010 17:19

I would like anybody who doesn't believe in the existence of ADHD and/or ODD to come and spend a day at work with me in the EBD school/PRU where I teach.

If, at they end of the day, they believe the above conditions to be a case of kids being kids, then I will personally make them a certificate and agree with them on any future thread.

Genuine offer.

mary don't go, just leave this thread

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/08/2010 17:23

now - if Breton makes any further comments after THAT, they should instantly be banned?

Hope Justine is reading this still.

Seriously, don't go Mary.

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 25/08/2010 17:23

I don't think breton is making jokes about suicide. He is pointing out that non-ADHD children and teenagers and adults all do stupid things.

I don't understand the reaction to the latest posts - they don't seem particularly offensive, just not terribly relevant - this is hardly brand new information.

PawMum · 25/08/2010 17:23

Breton reminds me of a time when i once rang nhs direct because my child had drank aftershave

man on other end 'you say she is 8yo, why on earth would dhe do that?'

'errr I have just told you she has SEVERE learning disabilities, autism, and the mental age of a very small toddler'

man at nhs direct 'but she EIGHT now, why did she do it'Hmm

loopyloops · 25/08/2010 17:23

Mary, take care.

Breton, I hope you're proud of yourself you sick f*.

2shoes · 25/08/2010 17:24

why is it that someone makes sick comments and someone always defends them

Lougle · 25/08/2010 17:26

The thing with sense of danger.

My DD3 is 16 months old. She, even now, stops to check if she has a foothold before climbing down. She looks ahead if climbing up. Sure, she sometimes misjudges and learns a serious lesson from her mistake. Her misjudgement is a result of her overstating her abilities, and not realising the consequences.

My DD1, who is 4.8, has no sense of danger. It simply isn't the same. I have to intervene when she says she is going to jump off of something, because she cannot jump but that doesn't stop her thinking she will do it. The result is not pretty. She sees a stone in the road (a particular obsession) and she will simply step out into it. I have shown her paediatrician video footage of it. I managed to pull her back by her harness she has to wear if walking outdoors, just seconds before a car went past at 40 mph. She is simply oblivious to risk and danger. Not a clue. Not even a little bit. Her 16 month old sister has more safety awareness than she does.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/08/2010 17:27

TCNY - well, I would call Mary pretty offended and hurt by the comments.

Glitterknickaz · 25/08/2010 17:32

It's frightening isn't it, Lougle, when the do the road running?

How do you think it feels to know that your child is unable to walk safely anywhere near a road without an adult present to pull them back when they step out? How do you think it feels to know that one day they might just step right into the side of the car?

They do something, it hurts them. They don't learn from that so they do it over and over again.

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 25/08/2010 17:34

Fanjo - Aye, but breton couldn't have known that. If you discuss issues like this you are always going to find people who have had dreadful personal experiences. We still need to find ways to discuss them.

Using suicide as an example of a stupid action was flippant - but not a deliberate attempt to hurt Mary.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/08/2010 17:36

TCNY - that's why I said he/she should be banned if he/she posts anything else about it AFTER Mary has been so upset? That would surely be unacceptable, no?

Tiredmumno1 · 25/08/2010 17:41

And why would bret say google these sites.

why the hell would you even bring it up in the first place.

bret you are sick, sick, sick, sick, sick

can you not see that

JustineMumsnet · 25/08/2010 17:45

Ok so we've suspended Breton1900 as we've not heard back since our note of yesterday referencing our philosophy and clearly that mail has gone unheeded.

There is a point at which persistent and aggressive inflammatory posting - even if we don't think all those posts invalid - mean that an individual has gone beyond the pale and we've reached it here. Apologies to those who've been upset - it's not what Mumsnet's for.

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 25/08/2010 17:47

Fanjo - Aye, it would - looks like action has been taken anyway :)

Coalition, i wouldn't be surprised if it was a deliberate attempt to upset and inflame on Breton's part.

His answer was ridiculous, given what I had just said re: snese of danger and not learning.

the whole discussion is around (the Breton side of it anyway) ADHD childrennot being in control of their actions.

you cannot compare that at all to children who have knowledge of the risks and dangers, but ignore those and go ahead anyway.

the comparison was crass to say the least.

and, if s/he has as much experience of teens/children as a teacher as s/he says s/he has, then s/he has surely come across a few children with no sense of danger/no control over their actions.

and yet no understanding is given at all.

I really would not be surprised if I learnt it was a deliberate action on Breton's part - light blue touch paper and stand well back.

but thiis is people's actual lives s/he is playing with here. real peopole, facing these impossible situations everyday.

Tiredmumno1 · 25/08/2010 17:50

Well done justine,

i think a lot of people have been hurt and offended by breton,

what a vile person
