MN is quite happy to let innacurate thread titles be posted that could promote discrimination against disabled children and their famillies

Title say's it all.

So to summarise:

AIBU is full of people with differing views, and some of them are offensive bastards.

SN parents have the right to point the finger and cry 'disablist' as an answer to any post they dont agree with.

Breton is a superior windup merchant and plays fools beautifully. And still they come back for more.

MNHQ have decided the ADHD thread will stay, so this silly offshoot thread can die now.

ccpccp wants a coffee.

"SN parents have the right to point the finger and cry 'disablist' as an answer to any post they dont agree with."

I suspect that if you post about chicken keeping then very few will do so. I think if you post offensive shit about sn then yes indeedy , they may well cry disabilist.

And any poster can object to whatever they want. I will have the right to cry 'you are talking out of your arse' on many subject - not just sn. As do you.

Claw3 · 25/08/2010 09:41

So you can swear at someone and that person can be offended and can ask for comment to be deleted and it will be and no one objects to this form of censorship.

I could call you all a group of wankers and you could ask for the comment to be deleted and it would be and no one objects to this form of censorship.

Tell a group of people that they are responsible for their child's disability and the comments stand, despite many asking for it to be deleted.

MN's answer is that they wont delete because its not illegal Hmm

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 25/08/2010 09:42

pagwatch - I don't see any evidence of a lack of equality of censorship - but this could well just be because we pay attention to different things on MN.

The only way we could determine this is for MN to release the data about what has been moderated and why - which would open a can of worms, cause privacy issues and be open to misinterpretation.

Daftpunk has been involved in some pretty offensive threads about sexuality and race.

I think the alternative to "anyone who wants to state any shit should be allowed to do so because they may, somewhere have an element of a point." is that censorship would inevitably creep in to more and more issues, as other sets of people say "Well THOSE peoples issues are protected, why aren't MINE?"

Clearly, this shouldn't apply to support forums.

Claw3 - I don't agree that it WAS discrimination, as above.

wasuup3000 · 25/08/2010 09:43

Oh and here is MrsCraftys comments
Many children just have shit parents who can't be bothered to spend time/say no and then wonder why their children are little fuckers and go running to their Dr's to get a statement.

OP posts:
pagwatch · 25/08/2010 09:45

Then I think that may be the nub.

Perhaps you just don't see the lack of equality.

I am not being smart arse. I think that you may be right about not noticing , or not being on the same threads etc. I suspect many things wash over us if we are not directly involved - casual racism or sexism for example.

But I have seen thread where this has happened.

But FWIW I did say that I thought intent is the key and intent is incredibly hard to determine

wasuup3000 · 25/08/2010 09:46

Obviously as these comments are still published on mumsnet then MNHQ obviously are in full support of disabilism.

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 25/08/2010 09:47

Is it the case that if someone calls me a cunt I can ask for it to be deleted? WEAK.

I've always assumed that 'personal attack' needed to go a bit further than that and would depend on the context.

PawMum · 25/08/2010 09:47

where isthe swimming pool thread?

Is that about the guy with TS in Strood?

snowmash · 25/08/2010 09:48

Some may find this interesting (or not).

wasuup3000 · 25/08/2010 09:48

We have told you the context and they are in full view to see disabled children according to MrsCrafty are little fuckers. Attack an adult by all means but a child - come on!!

OP posts:
TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 25/08/2010 09:49

pagwatch - Yes - it's like how the BBC is accused of both Left AND Right wing bias. We notice those things that are important to us.

PawMum · 25/08/2010 09:52

vinnie jones and davina mccall don't come as very 'bright' do they?

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 25/08/2010 09:52

Wassup3000 - but the thing is that

"Many children just have shit parents who can't be bothered to spend time/say no and then wonder why their children are little fuckers and go running to their Dr's to get a statement."

is a true statement.

Many children DO have bad parents. Many of then ARE unable to see the link between this and their children's behavior. Some of them DO then try and blame this on recognized disorders.

wasuup3000 · 25/08/2010 09:52

Thanks snowmash

pagwatch · 25/08/2010 09:52

lol at TCNY not think 'you area cunt' is a personal attack.

pagwatch · 25/08/2010 09:53

area cunt?

I mean you are a cunt. An area cunt would be a weird thing I think

wasuup3000 · 25/08/2010 09:55

Thanks TheCoalitionNeedYou for showing your disabilist colours. The odd parent here and there may behave like that (I have never met one who does) but certainly not many.

OP posts:
TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 25/08/2010 09:57

Maybe 'area cunt' is like 'bucket fanny'?

Anyway...

Anyone who gets a post pulled because someone calls them a cunt is clearly a wanker.

Claw3 · 25/08/2010 09:59

Thecoalition, You dont think ADHD does not exist and that bad parenting is the cause of ADHD is discrimination?

and yes if someone calls you any name and you ask, it will be deleted. As this is classed as a personal attack.

If i say you are all a bunch of wankers, if you ask it will be deleted. As this is classed as a personal attack.

But you can tell a group of parents they are responsible for their child's disability and that it doesnt exist, many posters ask for it be deleted, but the response they receive is 'it is not illegal'.

Im all for freedom of whatever, just dont like double standards.

Goblinchild · 25/08/2010 09:59

'area cunt?
I mean you are a cunt. An area cunt would be a weird thing I think'

I thought you were making a classist comment pag. Grin

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 25/08/2010 10:00

wassup3000 - I don't understand how you can say I am disabilist at the same time as agreeing with my point.

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 25/08/2010 10:01

Claw3 - an attack on a group is, by definition, not a personal attack.

wasuup3000 · 25/08/2010 10:02

I am not agreeing with your point I said may as in may in your opinion and that I have never met these parents.

You are disabilist pure and simple.
