to be disappointed in some posters' nicknames?

There seems to be many nicknames in the style of:

samntomsmumma

mamato2girlies

masonsmummy.

Are people really happy to define themselves like this?

Where is their strong, independent self-image?

There are so many witty, clever or unfathomable names on here - couldn't these posters have taken the lead from them and picked something less needy?

I know this is a parenting website, but I was drawn into here by an image of strong, independent, intelligent posters and I really feel some are letting the side down. It's not some HunnyForum you know.

We've apparently scare the OP away.

Well done us!

scottishmummy · 20/08/2010 21:56

ach it was harmless op.nae harm done

QueeferSutherland · 20/08/2010 21:57

Well, my NN is based on an unfortunate love-making quirk I've developed, and the copious 24 box-sets I've consumed, since the birth of DC3.

I wouldn't say it defines me... That would be weird.

scottishmummy · 20/08/2010 21:58

all the spoonerisms and puns are funny.

Ronaldinhio · 20/08/2010 21:59

i only think this about scottishmummy
lol

Boys2mam · 20/08/2010 22:01

frasersmummy

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 20/08/2010 22:01

Frasersmummy - I don't think this was meant as a serious thread, and even if it was, the majority have said it's a personal thing and no-one elses business - use your name with pride, it is who you are. Smile

2kids2dogsandahorse · 20/08/2010 22:02

Mine IS boring, one day when I am feeling witty and intelligent I will attempt a name change

celebmum · 20/08/2010 22:03

i've probably missed the boat on this one but hey ho.... i like my 'mum' name.. it actually took me quite a while to think of it!!Grin
i am an independant woman and my MN name suits me! Smile

poshsinglemum · 20/08/2010 22:05

Well it is mumsnet after all. Aren't we all a bit needy if we feel the need to post on here rather than run our own company or something?

scottishmummy · 20/08/2010 22:06

or been at work all day need something shite that doesnt matter

poshsinglemum · 20/08/2010 22:07

I wish I'd thought of something more original. As it happens my nickname reflects mu insecurity and denial that I am really a commoner.
It's also not the most anonymous name ever.

TrillianAstra · 20/08/2010 22:08

Oh dear, I'm so sorry to be disappointing you.

Blah blah blah.

My name does not reflect me at all. It reflects one book that I like. That is all. It doesn't say 'mummy 2xxxx' because I'm not a mummy to anything, but it is ridiculous to expect someone to define themselves in something snappy and easy to post back.

poshsinglemum · 20/08/2010 22:09

True sm- it's a bit of trivia really.

BelligerentGhoul · 20/08/2010 22:09

Stealth - am confused. What did I do?

Have you not been something else recently? I remember being pointed towards piccys of your gorgeous dd in a thread about dd's and diva behaviour!! Your dd is hysterically funny iirc Smile

teameric · 20/08/2010 22:27

mumbar no I've always been teameric, and yes think I remember that thread Smile

cupcakesandbunting · 20/08/2010 22:41

Mine was a namechange after some other poster described me as being "a bit too cupcakes and bunting" when I complained on AIBU about some scuzzers swearing loudly in the local park Grin

2kids2dogsandahorse · 20/08/2010 22:43

lol I like your name :)

StealthPolarBear · 20/08/2010 22:44

oh sorry, assumed it was a reference to this thread (read the OP) but obviously I have an inflated sense of my self importance :o

Fizzywinelover · 20/08/2010 22:45

Love your name cupcakes even more after eharing the story. Grin

Ahh - nope, I didn't think of that - but am sure you are VERY important anyway. I was merely mocking the phrasing of the OP.
