to be disappointed in some posters' nicknames?

There seems to be many nicknames in the style of:

samntomsmumma

mamato2girlies

masonsmummy.

Are people really happy to define themselves like this?

Where is their strong, independent self-image?

There are so many witty, clever or unfathomable names on here - couldn't these posters have taken the lead from them and picked something less needy?

I know this is a parenting website, but I was drawn into here by an image of strong, independent, intelligent posters and I really feel some are letting the side down. It's not some HunnyForum you know.

mumbar I'm also not that young!!! Grin

PassMeTheKleenex · 20/08/2010 21:39

DH has just informed me that he thinks of ''pleasuring himself'' when he sees my mn name. Niiiiice.

Actually, it came about when I was stressed and crying a lot.

I would like a witty name, but have no imagination.

DollyTwat · 20/08/2010 21:41

Chickenshavenoeyebrows yours is one of my fav names on here

mumofthreesweeties · 20/08/2010 21:43

YABU to think that just because one has mum in their nickname they are not intelligent. I absolutely love my nickname of mumofthreesweeties because that defines who I am and I am proud of it. I am a strong independent woman who is also a mum of three. I also know that I am highly intelligent. I did not feel that I had to stress out to find a name that ticks your box OP so that other posters would feel that I am intelligent or not. Who really cares to be honest. To be disappointed in MN names means that there is something missing in your life for you to find the time to even start a thread criticising people's nicknames. WTF. Each poster is entitled to pick the name they want end of. I initially joined using a different nickname but changed it to the current one because it is meaningful to me. The reason I love Mumsnet is because of it's anonymity, if we are now going to be judged by our nicknames then I really dont know what this world is coming to. YABU

I'm with the others too chicken to namechange. Blush

I would like to namechange, but I'm so used to this one now, I don't want to start again*

Plus it is an accurate description!

*Disclaimer - I don't expect people to recognise who I am, apart from a few delinquents. Wink

BelligerentGhoul · 20/08/2010 21:44

Yes, ChickensHaveNoEyeborws is a name of wit, intelligence, style AND is unfathomable! It is a work of genius.

Chickens - you are clearly a 'strong and independent woman.' :)

MaMoTTaT · 20/08/2010 21:45

Bitter you can't name change - I think you're name is fab......although it's not very accurate imo Wink

chaostrulyreigns · 20/08/2010 21:45

Recognise you too BaTCD - I also think your name is up there in my top 5 (laminated) names.

AMumInScotland · 20/08/2010 21:46

I picked mine because I only planned to answer the one thread (about the Scottish education system) and wasn't going to stay, so there was no point thinking up something witty and original. 3 years on, I'm just too used to it to want to change, and a few people actually recognise me so I'm happier to stay as I am.

I think its pretty shallow to judge a person's entire personality based on such a trivial thing - I reckon I'm strong, independent, and intelligent enough to cope with your criticism though Wink

chaostrulyreigns · 20/08/2010 21:46

MaMoTTaT - I like it!

But to my shame I can't work out the MaMo part of it. Blush

AmazingBouncingFerret · 20/08/2010 21:48

SNF, im intrigued, who do you think I was? Grin

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 20/08/2010 21:48

BelligerentGhoul · 20/08/2010 21:49

MaMoTTaT · 20/08/2010 21:49

echt · 20/08/2010 21:50

My nickname is twatty and pretentious, but there you go.

Actually, it's echt, but you know what I mean.:o

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 20/08/2010 21:51

We will have to come up with something less clumsy MOT - seriously! Grin

Chaos - Laminated?

MaMoTTaT · 20/08/2010 21:52

well how about MMTTaT

I AM clumsy - fgs I got myself stranded on holiday and have had to spend a fortune just replacing basic stuff that I need that were in the bag that got lost!!

PfftTheMagicDragon · 20/08/2010 21:54

I have loads of names - about 15 of the things, sitting there not being used.

MaMoTTaT · 20/08/2010 21:54

or how about TeeTaaTong (something I have been heard to shout on more than one occasion while trying to attract T, T or T Wink)

frasersmummy · 20/08/2010 21:55

FGS Some people just dont think before they post

I use this name in memory of my darling first son who was stillborn almost 7 years ago

I think having suffered this tragedy and gone on to have a great little lad 5 years ago I would consider myself to be

strong, independent and intelligent

But if you want to wrongly think of me as needy and unintelligent you go right ahead ...

AmazingBouncingFerret · 20/08/2010 21:55

Well done you!
Im terrible at guessing name changes.
