In a sort of patronising tone?

Ggggggrrrrrrrrrrr
My fellow MNetters, does anyone actually find buying jeans
A) easy?
B) a pleasure?

No? I thought not
Permission granted then?!

I'm an 8, 4'11 & more or less live in jeans. I used to wear Per Una but then tried on a pair of Primark skinnies & was amazed. The comfiest, best-fitting jeans I've ever had. I bought 4 pairs on the spot.

Heartsease · 19/08/2010 15:32

Grin at diddl cutting off the 'feet'. Alternatively you could sew up the ends for a skinny denim sleepsuit effect...

Thanks to everyone on MN who recommended Topshop Marthas, I bought some and they are great.

rimmer08 · 19/08/2010 16:18

buying jeans can reduce me to tears problem...

  1. am 5ft
  2. have small waist and curvy hips and muscly ass
  3. have well defined thighs from the gym

solution = g star

MilkNoSugarPlease · 19/08/2010 16:27

I...by chance...finally found a pair of jeans, in my size (26) skinny enough to tuck in boots....and they make my legs look loong and thin...and the waist goes high enough to pull my stomach in....So I went back and bought another 4 pairs...

bossyboop · 19/08/2010 16:30

I was kidding about the bikini wax!

stegasaurus · 19/08/2010 16:42

I'm only 5ft tall and Next is the only shop I have found that sells jeans almost short enough for me. They all seem to be a bit longer than they used to be though (I don't think I have shrunk), so now I can't get jeans that don't drag on the floor. My sewing ability just about stretches to sewing on a button so I can't turn them up myself. Anyone got any suggestions that don't cost a fortune?

shoshe · 19/08/2010 17:12

The only place I can buy jeans that fit is Monsoon, I am short round and dumpy, but they fit. Grin

bossyboop · 19/08/2010 17:40

Ive just won some brand new with tags Next petite jeans for £6.99 including p&p on ebay. Just hope they arent too big like some next jeans, the last pair i got were great but like you say stegasaurus they are too long. My dorothy perkins ones always seem to be a good length but then they dont always fit well on the waist arrrggghhhh!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 19/08/2010 18:13

Bossy- I was rather hoping you were joking Wink but I know what you mean. Some are so low rise they are not really rise at all!!

DilysPrice · 19/08/2010 18:29

I've got some pretty good Next jeans atm, but there are times that I've despaired completely - I'm curvy, so have resorted to yelling (inwardly) at the women queueing up to buy jeans that actually fit them "Ha, you may be happy now with your normal body shape, and clothes that actually fit you, but you won't be laughing in thirty-to-forty years when you have dropped dead from having a marginally less healthy waist-hip ratio than me!" Harsh, but that's the sort of thing that prolonged failed trouser shopping can reduce you to.

innocuousnamechange · 19/08/2010 18:58

Second the Primark jeans suggestion, and Oasis. Both fit and wash far better than you'd expect for the price

Heartsease · 19/08/2010 19:04

Bossyboop, you may have been kidding, but I once met up with a friend whose jeans really did require a bikini wax (which she had not had). And she's by no means a wild dresser usually.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 19/08/2010 20:52

Heartsease ....

Eeeuuuuuuuwwwwwwww for REAL

RatherBeOnThePiste · 19/08/2010 20:55

All these different brands available!

I wonder though, how much shopping around did it take to find the right style?

OP posts:
Heartsease · 20/08/2010 00:38

Yes, for real! I was sitting at the table in her garden. She went to fetch the wine and came back to pour me a glass, so my face was at low-rise level Shock. I think if we'd been in public I'd have had to say something, as she'd be mortified, but since it was just the two of us I kept it to myself (until now).

dustycups · 20/08/2010 00:56

ratherbeonthepiste!! dont worry no one can ever find what they really want in gunwharf, its shit really!

CheerfulYank · 20/08/2010 05:14

YANBU. I hate jeans shopping. I always find one pair after much searching and heartache and then wear them every day until they fall apart, and then the whole vicious cycle starts up again.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 20/08/2010 08:16

Dustycups - it is an odd place, you sort of get what they have rather than what you want iyswim? We actually wanted to get trainers from Nike and they were v good value, and they have good ski stuff in the season. Obviously chocolate too, but the rest is odd and it was HEAVING!

OP posts:
dustycups · 20/08/2010 08:20

hate the fact they took the cheap toy shop out because you could bribe the kids to be good! i only go for the vans shop and the works and to get the kids there yearly gap hoodys.
its only a 10 minute bus ride for us, but dont go often!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 20/08/2010 08:35

Oh yes Vans.... Got DS a bag for school games in there which was a bargain. DD likes jack wills but there were too many braying teens in there for me plus if you are into that stuff, their online sale at the mo is fab. We did once go up the tower which DC loved. Iys about an hour for us so it will be a while before we go again!!

This is why I don't wear jeans! Wink

mmsmum · 22/03/2011 21:43

Tall people should look at www.longtallsally.com

I just go to Gap

I agree with the OP's DH, but not the patronising tone

JarethTheGoblinKing · 22/03/2011 21:53

Clothes shopping in general for me is hell, but especially with Jeans.. My back curves in more than normal which means that my hips have always been 2 sizes bigger than my waist (sobs)

Bench jeans used to be very good (but they don't make them in anything bigger than a 12, seemingly, so no use to me now!)
I like DP jeans now (the shame!)

oldraver · 22/03/2011 22:05

The whole fashion for low slung jeans/trousers put paid to an decent fitting jeans if you have a less than flat stomach

I recently found a few pairs that are not belly pingers, oh the joy of comfy fitting jeans
