to hate the Zingzillas with a passion?

is anyone else unbearably irritated by this program? I run for the remote as soon as it starts, even my DC aren't keen on it thankfully for my ears.
Is it a complete BBC flop? Bring on more Charlie and Lola and less of the Zingcrap.

You're all singing "Making love ZingZilla style" aren't you?

LittleBugsMum · 27/07/2010 22:32

I think I fancy Sid and Andy (I know, both!?)

hester That's so funny that you pretend to be Nisha!!

And does anyone else want to know what happened to Cerrie's arm?

prettyfly1 · 27/07/2010 22:35

my kids LOVE LOVE LOVE this programme and it drives me crazy. They LOVE it - as in make sure they are up bright and early so as not to miss it and even my eight MONTH old wont pay attention to anyone or anything until it finishes - its like crack tv for kids!! (bloody handy when I need to get the dishes done tho)

prettyfly1 · 27/07/2010 22:37

Oh and they also love big and small but I love that one too so I dont mind as much

ellasmum1 · 27/07/2010 23:44

glad its not just me.I absolutely HATE Zingzillas with a passion and my kids hate it too!

BetterBitOfButter · 28/07/2010 01:06

Zingzillas ia AWFUL. Ds likes it though, he got very excited because there was a man playing the clarinet "like you mummy!". He cannot yet discern between good and bad playing.

Best TV programme? Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom is bloody genius, the one where they try to catch Big Bad Barry with the Jaws and Mutiny on the Bounty references has me on the floor. DS will not have it though that Nanny Plum and Mrs Rabbit are one and the same.

Onestonetogo · 28/07/2010 06:42

BetterBitOfButter, I love Ben and Holly's too, although sometimes I think, you only ever see the king read the paper, not the queen (same in Peppa Pig). I love nanny Plum!

Surely it is quicker to list the half decent programs than all the awful ones - there is just so much crud on TV? Personally I can only stand Charlie and Lola, a little bit of Humf, (maybe some Tinga Tinga). WHY do all children's programs involve horrible headachey colours, shrill voice artists (if I ever meet any of the Tweenies or Upsy Daisy they're in big, big trouble) and awful plots? That's if they have a plot - I can't see the point of all this baby talk goo goo gaa gaa rubbish (Waybuloo - arrrgrhhhh). When DD was of Waybuloo/Tellytubbies age she much preferred to watch DVDs of Trumpton and the Flumps - purchased by my nostalgic DH. And I much preferred to have them on!

sc13 · 28/07/2010 10:53

DS loves Zingzillas, but peculiarly his faves are the stone statues/aliens/what are those guys?
I don't hate it as much as Numberjacks - that IS creepy - is there anything creepier than Spooky Spoon, the tall guy with the hat, the blob with glasses? What is that all about?
My favourite remains 3rd and Bird, which DS despises. I even tried to get the singing/wing-flapping toy from ELC for my office him, but he wouldn't have any of it...

SamandZack · 28/07/2010 11:20

I actually quite like it, though I usually only hear it in the background. I don't actually sit down to watch it or anything. My DS LOVES it and he runs into the living room and does his air guitar whenever it comes on. I love watching him, it's sooo cute. Am wondering if my DS watches too much telly though. He's at nursery five mornings now so it's not so bad I guess, but how much is too much??????

Did anyone notice that Mrs Rabbit is aslo Nanny Plum from Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom?

LittleBugsMum · 28/07/2010 12:40

Mrs Rabbit has loads of jobs and I've never seen Rebecca's dad. B***d.

...unless he died

SolidGoldBrass · 28/07/2010 12:41

I won't hear a word against Chuggington (and I'm glad it's not just me who has a rather unhealthy interest in the cartoon mechanics, either).
I hate Bird and Turd because of the disgusting simpering Muffin, Big Cock Little Cock for the appalling attitudes towards food and cookery, and Numberjacks because of the unhealthy obsession with making everything normal and the completely incoherent plotting.
But does anyone else think the theme tune for the horrendous Same Smile is actually ripped off from Crash by the Primitives?

foxytocin · 28/07/2010 12:43

I don't like Zingzillas at all but dd1 (5) does and I have learnt that resistance is futile. So I am in denial.

However, between Zingzillas and the stream of 'I wants' triggered by the commercial channels, I will take CBeebies anyday. They think that there is Milkshake (due to Thomas and Peppapig) and CBeebies are the only children's channels on our telly.

Gill79 · 28/07/2010 13:44

We love Zingzillas!! It makes DS (2.6) SOOOOO happy, he shrieks with excitement, runs to find his guitar and drums and then plays along. Then we do role plays for the rest of the day where he gets to be Zack or Tang and I always have to be Todd He knows a cello from a violin, and a trumpet from a trombone, can play along with his triangle in time and can sing all the songs (many times....) One of the best I think.

Gill79 · 28/07/2010 13:48

SlightlyTired - I think the babytalk is for a purpose - according to my friend who's a speech therapist those simple repetitive sounds are ideal for babies. Ditto bright colours. And they don't really need particularly sophisticated or sound plots do they?

GothAnneGeddes · 28/07/2010 14:15

I am the only one who likes the Alphablocks?

Also, I wish they'd bring back the clip where the children say goodnight in other languages.

taffetacatski · 28/07/2010 14:59

DD (3) loves Alphablocks and despite me trying to teach her the alphabet its only through watching Alphablocks she wants to do it

We've only seen it live once though - no idea when its on so we just watch it/do the games online

Octobrrr · 28/07/2010 15:00

SolidGoldBrass - THANK YOU! I thought I was going mad when I started singing "Crash" eachtime Same Smile came on!

As for Zingzillas, it's awful but DS loves it. Can't we just have 20 mins of Andy... -ahem-...?

foxytocin · 28/07/2010 15:14

I do like alphablocks myself and it has helped dd's interest in words.

She loves the online games too.

if you go onto youtube some of the episodes have been uploaded by a kind soul.

The saving grace for zingzillas imo are the musician guest stars and their instruments.

NorkyButNice · 28/07/2010 15:21

We love alphablocks here. All the episodes are on the cBeebies website.

My personal favourite is 'e' as he gets the best songs. DS loves 'r' as he wants to be a pirate...

GothAnneGeddes · 28/07/2010 15:42

My favourite alphablock is 't' for the moustache and monocle combo.

misschord · 28/07/2010 16:56

I've only watched it once - the episode with Julian Lloyd Webber. I just thought it was a bit weird the way he sat in that clearing playing his cello, and didn't actually say anything!

CheerfulYank · 28/07/2010 18:02

oooh, I've never heard of alphablocks...wonder if I can netflix it?

This is the sort of thing that makes me love not having cable. DS can only watch DVDS, and since he's not big enough to put them in himself, I only choose ones I can actually stand. Sesame Street and Kipper, sure! Barney and Scooby-Doo, not an icicle's chance in hell!
