to hate the Zingzillas with a passion?

is anyone else unbearably irritated by this program? I run for the remote as soon as it starts, even my DC aren't keen on it thankfully for my ears.
Is it a complete BBC flop? Bring on more Charlie and Lola and less of the Zingcrap.

Agree that the music part of Zingzillas is a great idea, and the stupid monkey costumes and plotlines are just an unnecessary distraction.

Also agree that Get Squiggling is one my most hated.

I was SO pleased when Show me Show me came back on, had been meaning to start a thread asking when it would be back, and dd has been nagging me. It was a real lunchtime treat, now it's on in the am, i have to tape it so we can watch after lunch. I think I like it because it's REAL children's TV and possibly the closest thing to Playschool on Cbeebies. As cg007 says, it's the gentle and easygoing programme...so many of the programmes for kids are very manic and stressful.

Apart from Show me Show me, the only other good programmes are Charlie & Lola, of which we have almost every episode taped, Tinga Tales - genius on all levels; the voices, the colours, the stories, the cultural education, and Jackanory Junior. And I LIKE Green Balloon club. Why is everyone slagging it off?....(and as everyone has confessed their Cbeebies crush, I like the lovely ginger Green Balloon bloke).

I hope someone from Cbeebies keeps an eye on mumsnet, they could get a lot of useful feedback!

AnneinEdinburgh · 27/07/2010 16:12

And it goes on for ever! Mind you if its a choice between Zing and Tweenies I am not sure - suicide / alcohol beckons with both!

Housemum · 27/07/2010 16:44

Thank you lot so bloody much - I have now got the Zingzilla song looping round my head.

Hate Zingzillas (the acting) love the music bits. DD3 (2.5) doesn't think much of it. Her CBeebies faves are Something Special, Night Garden, Waybuloo, Show Me Show Me and Timmy Time.

Oh, and I Can Cook - Katie is OK, 20 times better than Big Twat Little Twat (anyone on here mentioned how often Big Cook dodgily splats white goo over Little Cook?) - at least her stuff is real food rather than some art and craft with a sausage stuck in it.

Penelope K - someone put her down!

MerryMarigold · 27/07/2010 17:25

AIBU to HATE Charlie & Lola with a passion?

They are so annoying and middle class...I am so glad I do not live in an area with too many Charlie and Lolas (know only one Lola, hooray).

Zingzillas is really annoying - but I don't find it grates on my nerves as much as C & L (grrrrrrrrrrrrr...)

Big Barn Farm and Timmy Time are my fav's

Onestonetogo · 27/07/2010 17:36

MerryMarigold, C&L are maybe a wee bit middle class, but are you suggesting a working class version should be made, with working class names and dialogues?
I love C&L's graphics, and how the author portrays what a child's imagination is capable of picturing. Very visual and cute storylines.

MrsBabooKaloo, I hate the Green Balloon club for many reasons; it seems a bit "look at us, we're so special we're in this exclusive club, we go on the telly every day"... yeah, maybe goos fun for the kids on the programme, not for the ones watching at home.

Lola is a little brat. I used to think my DD2 reminded me of Lola, "small and very funny". Unfortunately cute at 4 can be a PITA at 7!

MaudofallHopefulness · 27/07/2010 17:57

Space Pirates was alright, I quite liked it but Zingzillas is too loud, bright and irritating. DS never watches Cbeebies now thankfully as I think I hate nearly every show. Still, Fireman Sam will soon lose its novelty.

Shaz10 · 27/07/2010 18:04

I hate Chris and Pui! I know I seem to be the only one who does but they are soooo smug.

hester · 27/07/2010 18:07

My dd wants Nisha from Same Smile to be her mother . Sometimes she will only listen to me if I pretend to be Nisha...

Whoamireally · 27/07/2010 18:08

LoL that would be a great thread. Alternative versions of Charlie & Lola:
X Factor version = Kai and Britney
Middle-aged version = Frank and Susan
Victorian version = Edward and Florence
Roman version = Tacitus and Claudia

What fun!

Booboobedoo · 27/07/2010 18:35

I love Zingzillas, and DS is mad about it.

DH puts it on for him in the morning, and I get woken up to him shouting 'it's the laaaaaast COCONUT!'.

Also, I love watching him Doing Bhangra.

MissWormwood · 27/07/2010 18:39

The device called Beebatron is awful. I feel sorry for Sid, having to talk to it. And stay out in the garage all the time.

The only thing I hate about Charlie & Lola is that Charlie apparently has to bring up Lola himself. Why can't their parents explain the consequences of her eating her lunch hours before lunchtime? A real big brother would gloat and say "look at me eating all my lunch, mmmmm", not give her bits of his!

Love Timmy Time, can't think why I forgot it before. Not sure why Finlay (the fox cub) starts off at Timmy's birthday party and then mysteriously disappears before the games commence... poor Finlay.

The funny thing about Big Barn Farm is the total lack of credits - I wondered if Dave Lamb (of Come Dine With Me) was doing the narration on the new series, but no credits so no idea. Love the slightly ironic narration though.

Does anybody else find Penelope K talking to her hand in a sock a bit worrying? (Loathe the character, loathe the programme)

So nobody else likes Chris from Doodle Do then? Ha! No competition means Mine All Mine!

whomovedmychocolate · 27/07/2010 18:41

Zingzillas is indeed irritating but I think it may be worth developing a racist streak just so I can justify my aversion to 'Same Smile'. Of all the patronising, facile twatfacedness on cbeebies, this has to be the worst

Incidentally you know the Cerrie rap for Get set go, the one that goes 'Cbeebies is the place to have fun together......something something, making love whatever the weather' WTF ARE the words, it drives me nuts every time I hear it.

MarineIguana · 27/07/2010 19:00

Ooh captain DJ. I miss his fascinating trousers him now DS has moved on to CBBC. CBBC is more fun for adults, but there's not so much quality totty. However at least this means I've never seen Zingzillas - yet - but I guess baby DD will be getting a cbeebies habit eventually.

waitingforbedtime · 27/07/2010 19:26

What is worse than any programme is the new weekend filler bits with all 4 presenters.

I could handle Cerrie and Alex being rubbish because Andy was funny and Sid was sexy good but I am disappointed in them, they have lowered themselves to a new and altogether more disappointing level.

FunnyLittleFrog · 27/07/2010 19:27

I have a bit of a problem with gender representation in ZingZillas. Panzee wears pink and flounces, bats her eye lashes and talks in a stupid itsy voice, Drum can't talk at all and the only other females are the beach birds (!). Men - a very knowledgable John Peel style DJ, an old uncle type authority figure, the two moaning stones, Zach and Tang. Realy not good for kids' TV in 2010.

waitingforbedtime · 27/07/2010 19:27

Marineiguana Iain Stirling is on CBBC - he is definitely 'quality totty'

whomovedmychocolate · 27/07/2010 19:27

And all the bloody trailers all the time

I do not want to see a making sodding moment nor do I want to hear another ZingZillas song with the word cbeebies replacing the word Zingzillas

FunnyLittleFrog · 27/07/2010 19:29

I like the cbeebies summer song but it's the same one they used last year isn't it? Bit lazy.

whomovedmychocolate · 27/07/2010 19:31

Funnylittlefrog - you wait till they wheel out the autumn one again. I loathe those green balloon kids - keep hoping they'll fly away!

And they don't even get the seasons right, it was spring until the end of May on cbeebies.

FunnyLittleFrog · 27/07/2010 19:39

They had better make a new one for this winter - the last one was the pits with Cerrie and Alex in that hot air balloon and the fake snow flakes.

I don't like the new version of the bedtime song either. Just wrong.

teaandcakeplease · 27/07/2010 19:45

I think it was Sid and Cerrie in the balloon and Alex and Andy dancing with the kids somewhere with high rise offices and the rubbish fake snow flakes I hope they do a new Winter song as well.

I like Chris from Doodle Do as well. I'd like that to start again, my DD liked it.

I also think the chap who is on Green Balloon Club is rather nice looking but I have no idea what his name is, as my DCs are bored stiff by it so we turn it off when on.

Galena · 27/07/2010 19:51

whomovedmychocolate, meteorological reckoning for seasons has: spring begins on 1 March, summer on 1 June, autumn on 1 September, and winter on 1 December. So it's about right...

teaandcakeplease · 27/07/2010 19:54

whomovedmychocolate do you mean that one?

I'm supposed to be icing my DD's birthday cake but I'm enjoying this thread a little too much

MarineIguana · 27/07/2010 20:00

waitingforbedtime, yes I know the one! - I would have been breathlessly in love with him when I was 16, sadly he's a bit wet behind the ears for me now. He's v good though, as is the Ed & oucho one and Barney. But they just don't do it for me.

Doodle Do Chris on the other hand...
