out gigging and drinking 9 days after the birth

Is it wrong to be a little bit or mean to be even slightly judgy?

Or perhaps it should be more 'bloody good for her' ?

I never had size 8 jeans! Well not since I was 8 anyway

BitOfFun · 21/11/2009 21:17

Can't say I'm surprised by you Bonsoir, but gosh, I sort of am that anyone would think like that.

scottishmummy · 21/11/2009 21:24

this is an ole gimmers sucking teeth thang.hell i wish i could have done it at 9days

after couple weeks my friend said
"time to have a shower, put on make up". i looked like a midden.and when i did go out i felt great for it

traceybath · 21/11/2009 21:31

If I'd had housekeepers etc so I could have focused totally on the baby and found time to express then I'm pretty sure I'd have gone out sooner than I did. But for the majority of us there's housework/cooking etc to do as well as look after baby.

But I'm someone who values having babies/small children who go to bed at a reasonable time so DH and I get time to ourselves and can go out for dinner.

scottishmummy · 21/11/2009 21:33

are you suggesting coleen doesn't value her baby?that is unsubstantiated and mean

traceybath · 21/11/2009 21:38

I think you misunderstand me Scottishmummy. I meant I like having children who got to bed at 7pm so I can go out and leave them with a babysitter.

Did not say she doesn't value her baby at all.

BikiniBottom · 21/11/2009 21:42

Bonsoir - "plump wag". What planet are you on? Its no wonder there is a serious problem with body image when people make ridiculous comments like that. Obviously anything above a size zero is obese.

Portofino · 21/11/2009 21:52

In Paris all the women are thin of course. Apart from the ones I saw the last time I was there....

violethill · 21/11/2009 22:00

I'm waiting for the thread that tells us what a cleaning lady looks like. Obviously there's a definitive look

Portofino · 21/11/2009 22:12

Like this

Portofino · 21/11/2009 22:13

this even

Sidge · 21/11/2009 22:14

I'd rather give birth than go to a Beyonce gig, but if Colleen wants to do that 9 days post partum then fair play to her.

I went to a wedding 5 days after a crash section under GA, so I'm in no position to comment.

scottishmummy · 21/11/2009 22:15

Just caught up with this thread and i now have diet pepsi all over my fricking netbook. Bonsoir's comments so out of leftfield i spat my drink out laughing.

Think this might be one of my favourite threads ever .

waterbirthbaby · 21/11/2009 22:23

i think bonsoir lives in Les Ulis, and alludes to the hermes lifestyle

chattermouse · 21/11/2009 22:43

That's one competition i'm not winning. It has taken me 8 months to get back into my size 8 jeans. I can kind of see where kate is coming from, it does feel good . That said i could not give up Starbucks drinks and cakes. Gingerbread latte with whip and a black forest cup cake feels pretty good to me .

Portofino · 21/11/2009 23:01

Can't believe that you can come back here and make jokes about cakes chattermouse after your earlier comments!

chattermouse · 21/11/2009 23:11

We might have differing views but we're all friends here Porto .

I still think Bonsoir should get quote of the week!

violethill · 21/11/2009 23:12

I think some MNers were born in the wrong era. Didn't it used to be the case that women were expected to have a 'lying in' period after childbirth, when they would take to their beds and lie there helplessly? You know, back in the day when women were considered lesser beings?

Or even better, maybe some MNers would like to go back a couple of thousand years when women were considered unclean after the oh-so-unatural act of childbirth, and had to remain indoors until they'd been ritually purified a few months later!

violethill · 21/11/2009 23:19

On a serious note, a little word springs to mind..... karma!

The most earth-mother-attachment-parenting-couldn't-be-separated-from-precious-firstborn mother I knew is now, 16 years later, divorced and has a messy and stressful step family situation on her hands. No doubt she would have disapproved of DH and me going to a gig two weeks after our firstborn. I'm glad to say DH and I are still happily bonded to eachother and our children. Good relationships and good parenting are about a hell of a lot more than what you do in the first few weeks or months.
