out gigging and drinking 9 days after the birth

Is it wrong to be a little bit or mean to be even slightly judgy?

Or perhaps it should be more 'bloody good for her' ?

That is so not true of the nursery dd went to! But that is a different thread!

scottishmummy · 21/11/2009 19:16

collen has a husband, supportive family, circle of friends she is very fortunate

violethill · 21/11/2009 19:20

Not true of the nursery mine went to either porto! But hey, let's not let that get in the way of a few mind boggling generalisations

argento · 21/11/2009 19:30

Agree with Bonsoir that most of the ideas of what we have to do with babies, how mothers must behave and what is "natural" are cultural anyway. The Mummy Martyrs are simply imposing a particular social construction of motherhood on everyone else.

Ivykaty44 · 21/11/2009 19:39

roneef you beat me I only lost three sotne in 10 days and got back in my size 10 jeans to go out for a couple of soft drinks in town. Got chatted up by a chap ten years younger and went home at 10ish when all the others went clubbing. I couldn't have faced going clubbing with leaky boobs!

If you want to sit in judgement that is your business not mine.

ii years on and I have a well adjusted dd who doesn't complain if I have the odd night out or time away from her and is happy to be with other people not glued to me or insecure.

Bonsoir · 21/11/2009 20:01

I am interested in the thread that tells me why nurseries are horizon-broadening...

scottishmummy · 21/11/2009 20:03

coleen looks so happy and glowing.

Bonsoir · 21/11/2009 20:06

I think she looks like the plump WAG she has always looked like

scottishmummy · 21/11/2009 20:08

happy is a frame of mind not dress size

Bonsoir · 21/11/2009 20:10

She really doesn't look any different to the way she has always looked. There is nothing to say about her appearance.

scottishmummy · 21/11/2009 20:12

i think she looks nice, great to see her out too

Bonsoir · 21/11/2009 20:13

Oh well, variety is the spice of life . I've always thought she looks a bit like a cleaning lady, but there you go.

Portofino · 21/11/2009 20:27

And I always thought you have your head up your own arse Bonsoir! But like you say, variety.....

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 21/11/2009 20:35

Bonsoir 'plump wag' 'cleaning lady'

I bet you aren't half as fabulous as you believe yourself to be

Defluffmyfanjo · 21/11/2009 20:36

'Cleaning lady' - you really are a nasty piece of work Bonsoir.

Well done for getting the bitch of the night award.

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 21/11/2009 20:41

Actually, I think Bonsoir likes to be provocative as a method of attention seeking, it's just an adopted persona imo

DarrellRivers · 21/11/2009 20:45

She's young, what aged 23 and had a baby
Perhaps the people unable to go out after delivery are a little more, ahem, elderly

scottishmummy · 21/11/2009 20:47

the article is actually quite complimentary of coleen

her vertiginous heels, well i could never manage that.i would be so scared of falling that id land on my arse for sure

scottishmummy · 21/11/2009 20:48

aye darrel the ole gimmers can stay at home practising pelvic floor muscles exercised instead

DarrellRivers · 21/11/2009 20:49

greenmonkies frankly it is none of your business

Portofino · 21/11/2009 21:05

You are the voice of reason Shiney!

traceybath · 21/11/2009 21:15

It is pretty unusual behaviour though - I don't personally know anyone whose gone out minus baby quite so quickly.

Entirely up to her of course and presumably the baby is being well looked after.

With dc1 I felt totally overwhelmed and remember feeling very jealous of DH going off to meetings and out for drinks as it demonstrated his life had not changed as much as mine had.

I do think that if I'd had dc1 at 23 as opposed to 31 I would probably have wanted to go out again sooner.

Also am sure it makes a difference if you've had a nice birth and feeding is going well.

Not sure as to relevance of weight loss or are we having a competition as to who was back in their size 8 jeans first
