Random things that you realise, realtively late in life, you just dont like?

Sidebeforeself · Today 11:50

Fairly recently, Ive realised I dont like these things:

Live albums/song recordings. No matter how much I love the band or song.
Watching dance…especially in a musical
Songs named after women…even I can’t explain that one!
Meals where every mouthful is the same…e.g. pizza

I wouldnt have said these things a year ago I dont think , so it proves TIPU am still getting to know myself in my late 50’s!

Anyone else had a similar epiphany?

London. I love the idea of London, but when I'm there I want to go home.

Alcohol. Even when it's other people drinking it. Can't stand it when people are even mildly intoxicated. Was fine with it when I was younger but I've seen it destroy two people in recent years and it was horrifying to watch.

Shouty, screamy people. Looking at you Alison Hammond as you are ruining Bake Off again after initially calming down and being tolerable.

Completely agree with this. She's way too loud!

Frys - I don't like them. Even if someone else cooks them or whether they are from a greasy spoon cafe or five start hotel. I do not like them.

BBC oh and the BBC

Agree on coats. Hate them. I get so excited when I can cast off a coat in spring
Tights. I haven't worn them for years

People. Individually, great but en masse they drive me insane. I just can not tolerate crowds, cities, large concerts and events or mingling amongst strangers. I feel as though I am suffocating in those situations. Give me nature and a great big meadow or beach and I am happy as Larry.

Also working. At 53 I realise that half my issues have been due to working, I just don't like it, tried it and I don't enjoy it, same goes for adulting but not a lot I can do about either of those sadly.

I was diagnosed ND last year so maybe all of the above makes sense now.

Fake over the top confidence with screechy laughing Alison Hammond style. Genuinely think she's a lovely person but can't stand her on TV.

Also know 2 people in real life that have a similar vibe and can generally only tolerate them for 5 minutes.

Never used to bother me but my tolerance is so much lower these days.

Christmas Day

Totally agree, I like the build up to it and the time off work but the day itself is a load of shite.

History before 1900 (sorry!). My DH loves history, but I have bugger all interest in hearing about ancient Mesopotamia. Give me WW1, WW2 and 1960s America any day.

Actually, I probably could get into the Tudor period one day. And London pre 1900.

Instant coffee. It’s made it so much easier when people ask me what I’d like to drink & I can decide straightaway on tea.

Yes I used to drink cups of it now can’t bear it. Horrible taste.

Haha! I should have added that I've been put off all of these (in part) because my DH's side of the family love talking endlessly about them. And rugby as well. God, I hate it! 😄

I do love socialising, people and pubs though.

Anyone I meet in real life who says anything like ' Ooh I'm mad me. The party only starts when I get here. I'm craaaaaayyzeeeee'. All you will see is my feet moving at great speed in a cloud of dust. You are not fun/ mad/ crazy you are desperately running away from something inside your head that you are medicating with noise/ booze and manic behaviour. Thats fine but I won't be anywhere near you.

Sharing food. Also travelling anywhere on a BH weekend. Nightmare.
