A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

The willingness to enter reparation negotiations is very worrying.

Germany is worth keeping an eye on at the moment. Do Labour really want to rejoin an EU where such shocking statements are allowed?! 😉

I thought all these riots were caused by the 'far right' (or 'schoolchildren', one or the other...)

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/gift/38c3181e9efe8334

"Violent protests in Germany are the work of leftists and migrants, the country’s interior minister has said.
Demonstrations began peacefully on Saturday afternoon but turned violent in the evening as rioters smashed windows and looted shops in Frankfurt, where the police responded with water cannons.
Violence also erupted in Berlin, Cologne and Hamburg, where demonstrators threw Molotov cocktails, bottles and fireworks at police officers. Large-scale arrests were made in more than eight cities.
Alexander Dobrindt, the interior minister and a member of the ruling conservative Christian Social Union, accused “troublemakers from the immigrant community” of acting alongside Left-wing extremists and other far-Left groups.
Organisers said 160,000 people took part across the country."

@sesquipedalian

i agree with everything you say apart from the fact that AB is worse than KS. This just based on my absolute loathing of KS. My life is better now I don’t have to see or hear from him.

i think as the general election draws nearer surely there will have to be some sort of right-wing coalition if Reform and Restore are still pulling in a significant amount of voters. There’s still time I guess and I think Kemi is excellent so maybe as the time draws nearer more voters will coalesce around the Tories.

It would be awful if Labour got in again because of a split right wing vote

The thing that most bothers me is that if he were to call an election next spring, it’s quite possible that the split between conservative/reform/restore would let in another Labour government or Labour/lib/green coalition. I don’t see how Burnham’s plans for devolution, creating more mayoral areas, will do anything other than exacerbate regional differences - obviously he hopes (as with London) that there will be Labour mayors even if there’s a right wing administration. The way he gives away money to all and sundry - and borrows in order to do so - means that sooner or later, there will have to be an almighty reckoning as a result of socialist fiscal incompetence, and it’s a big worry as to where the axe will have to fall. And don’t get me started on the lies he told the people of Makerfield about how he wouldn’t re-open the Brexit question. I didn’t think he could be worse than Kier, but he really is.

Fully agree with this.

KathleenDarleenDayKnight · Yesterday 08:40

Yes I'd much rather wait it out till 2029 and see the back of Labour, than have an election now and have them till 2032, which sounds like pure horror.

I’m glad I don’t have to hear or see KS anymore either. Tg for that. I don’t listen to Burnham anyway but he’s easier to avoid. Probably because he relies on SM so much and I’m not on TikTok or don’t follow on IG.

Still I don’t get the love in either, for the reasons below.

The “progressive” (in the Orwell sense) coalition of Lab/LD/Greens is the worst possibility of all. It would be fucking mad. And it’s fairly likely given that the electorate doesn’t really like any of the options enough to put them in government.

Monty36 · Yesterday 08:52

I do not dislike some of his views. I do not care for others.
His obsession with giving Mayors power is not okay.
His vanity project No10 North we cannot afford.
I worry that he felt it right to have Angela Rayner back.
He hates the middle class but is one himself. A champagne socialist.

On this it’s spreading to other EU countries too. I didn’t vote leave but re-joining looks less attractive now.

At least in Germany, they're clearly saying that it's extreme Left wing and also German nationals with immigrant background causing the violence. It's been very weird the way people have been trying to pretend that's not what's happening in France.

Also, it's now also obvious it's not 'just the French being French'.

But yes, worrying.

The map in the article showing the location of the protests riots all over Europe is rather worrying.

(It's a Telegraph gift link so should be readable for all).

Yes very worrying. Hopefully the prospect of that coalition will sharpen minds at the next GE.

Many people in Jewish communities around the world and government officials in several the Middle Eastern countries have been warning western governments and the media since 2023 that this is what the hate marches lead too

Unfortunately people didn't take the threat from the unholy alliance of far left and Islamists serious. The West not only didn't try to protect their Jews but also have allowed something to get out of hand that should have been stopped when it first started testing the fences like a raptor waiting to attack. This was never going to end with the Jews because it never does.

Peaceful protests you mean

They are just trying to get more textbooks and less supply teachers I think we have been told

I previously thought the Employment Rights Act is basically a gift to malingers, grifters and vexatious mischief-makers, but it appears the illegals will also benefit.

I've been in a rain deluge like that the water is like a warm shower, quite pleasant. Friends ex a businessman in that area for 40 years. It's gone very dangerous for visitors and locals. The wealthy just move on. The officials just need money. They really don't care about independence. Their loot is stashed in banks abroad.

@strawberrybubblegum @KathleenDarleenDayKnight

as I said a few times on previous threads, it makes me think of that quote from the TV show Whitechapel “there are dark forces at play, gentlemen”. I would ignore politics but I’m still on hyper alert after lockdown. I don’t think that will ever go away sadly, even though there’s nothing I can do about their decisions.
