Why Gaza?

Mixymaxymoxy · 10/10/2026 21:27

There are several atrocities happening in the world that could be described as genocides. Sudan, DCR, Rohingya in Myanmar, Yazidi in Iraq,

why has the Gaza / Palestinian cause motivated young people in the west more than any of the above ?

if you are a protester, how do to decide which cause to protest about ? If your children are protesting, why do you think they chose this one ?

I’m 54 and was not politically active when I was younger. I’m seeing the protests in France and elsewhere and wondering why Gaza so much part of the protests?

Thats it, you get no more from me, I understand you may not be in the UK but it would have taken you five minutes of googling yourself to check and perhaps use your own faculties to figure out why security services may or may not tell you stuff. Also it’s not against the law for the security services not to tell us everything all the time. I can’t imagine any country’s security services operate like that.

You are clearly projecting here, your points make no logical sense at all, they are just vague accusations that i believe in secret plots and conspiracies and that for some reason I think you are an enemy of the state (don’t even know where you got that from).

Everything I said is confirmed there, it would help you to read it.

FoxtrotPapa · 11/10/2026 20:08

Because it’s the British who caused it in the first place, read up on the Balfour Declaration 1917 and the Nakba 1948. This isn’t a new conflict.

I still maintain that as a Jew or Israeli or British citizen or woman or brunette I have no obligation to share my political opinion with anyone and should still be allowed to peacefully exist and be protected. The odd swerve on here to say Jews are somehow morally obligated to share - and share loudly via popular media? - opinions about military operations and a several thousand year old history was unexpected. Why on earth would anyone care what I had to say and why is that my responsibility?

October 7th (and 9-11 actually) is viscerally burned into my memory. They were days of intense grief and sadness and an odd sprinkling of pride while watching the responses. Pride in humanity for finding a way to come together to support survivors and figure out how to heal.

I will never forget either of these and I was at least 2 steps removed from them. (A classmate of my brothers was a hostage who was killed after 7 October and I grew up in New York so had friends and family caught up in it. Friends of friends died.) I can say it broke my heart.

The American military response to 9-11 and the Hamas tunnels and the IDF and Netanyahu - I don’t feel in any way responsible for this or indeed educated enough to have an opinion on how I’d have managed this better. I can say civilian deaths are tragedies. I can say I wish things were different. I can say it feels endless and horrible and frightening and hideous. But I can’t say much else. How could I and why should I?

Why thank you, it was painful to have to do that. I do understand that we don’t all consume the same news or information and many will not be UK based so information will be more opaque.

I will try to evidence my posts more throughly but honestly I genuinely thought this was common knowledge (and common sense to be honest) thats not necessarily redtags fault, I’m sure theres stuff I miss all the time but it’s clearly led to some significant errors in understanding.

It's not that deep. We don't like what we see.

Actually the whole situation is VERY deep. Jumping on the bandwagon is the opposite, it's very shallow.

I'm always skeptical when certain people claim to be the very ethno religion that's under discussion. It goes back to anybody being who they want to be, online. Accounts don't add up to the reality.

I completely stand by what I say, utter fucking numpty, we have never ever attacked an actual ally who has neither harmed us or our interests. If we are going to conduct military action at all it should be against people who have actually attacked us which Israel hasn’t.

You don’t have to like them but there is no reason for us to attack them. How would it help the situation any? What would be the purpose?

Is this the MP you were referring to ?

If so. did you notice that what he actually said does not match what you claim he said ? Is that, by the way, why you did not mention the name of the MP, or link to the story ?

If this is the MP, then you were misrepresenting what he said.

Why am I projecting ?

You claimed terror plots were foiled that would cause a large number of deaths of Brits. You did not say where ( what country), so assuming you meant in the UK, then it would be totally normal, and expected, to see charges brought, court cases, sentencing etc, with all the usual rights. Yes, some specific info might be redacted, but the story would be in the news. It would be on record.

You made the claim, so it really is up to you to provide the evidence. The same as how you claimed an MP said something with no name or link given. I looked it up, found the MP, found what he said, posted a link to the story, and it appears you did misrepresent what he said. And with the work I done to check your claim, you still will not confirm if the MP I indicated was the one you were referring to.

Read this a few times now and wondering if you’re suggesting that I’m not actually a Jewish mother and am instead someone else altogether who has the time and energy to develop an elaborate fake online life… as a boring Jewish mum in the suburbs? If I was going to have a fantasy life I wouldn’t pick this one!

What no, we often have short reports of plots foiled in the news. What we don’t get is the intelligence details. So for example MI5 have specifically said that over 20 Iranian plots have been foiled in the UK since 2022. Clearly MI5 don’t tell the public every time they find something because it’s obviously sensitive. This is a government page with statements regarding threats to the UK. Sorry it hadn’t occurred to me that you may not be British and so not getting the same information as the rest of us. I hope this helps you understand that we don’t get some sort of public statement and details of the investigation and where intelligence was gleaned from. This would obviously pose a risk to sources or expose other security services for example.

https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/protecting-national-security

On statements made on hansard you know if an MP stands up and say we have intelligence sharing arrangements with Israel, literally any other MP can get up and refute that. So if Kemi and Tom were lying any MP is able to challenge them. I just find it extraordinary that you think theres some sort of conspiracy where they are lying about it for some reason.

On Shamima Begum it was widely reported that a judge heard evidence from security services in closed court, this is a link to the case file produced by the court so you can see evidence was heard in secret. Again because it was considered sensitive. I imagine she wouldn’t necessarily be on tele sharing the details of why the security services think she should have had her nationality revoked, might make her look bad.

www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Begum-v-SSHD-CA-2023-000900-2024-EWCA-Civ-152.pdf

As you can see nothing I have said is pointing to secret plots or any weird shit.

There is evidence above that closed courts are used to hear evidence from security services that is deemed too sensitive to be heard by the public in the UK. You can also see the security services own statements about how many plots have been foiled and yes again we may not always know and we may not know where the intelligence comes from

Aaaand heres Ed Miliband confirming that intelligence sharing between the UK and Israel exist

https://www.thenationalnews.com/news/uk/2026/09/09/miliband-confident-israel-intelligence-sharing-will-continue-despite-damaging-sanctions-backlash/

Sorry, I missed this post.

This is what I was responding to. Here a clip from my post, quoting you, what you said in bold.

"RedTagAlan · 11/10/2026 13:48
Quote "Israel is an ally, they prevented terror attacks originating from Iran that would have killed a lot of brits. "

Your first link is from the commons. About state actors

"In the last year, the number of state threat investigations being run by MI5 has jumped by 48%."

and

"The Director General of MI5 recently stated that since the start of 2022 the UK has responded to 20 Iran-backed plots, presenting potentially lethal threats to British citizens and UK residents."

Yes, those plots are known about. I mentioned it. And we can look them up. Iran was going after dissidents. Arrests were made. It was in the news. No Mention of Israel intel in that.

2nd link. Shamima Begum. I see no reference to Israeli intel.

3rd link, about Intel sharing. No mention of foiled terror plots against brits.

You are conflating. You are joining separate things, to come out with this -

Quote "Israel is an ally, they prevented terror attacks originating from Iran that would have killed a lot of brits. "

You have taken " potentially lethal threats to British citizens and UK residents" from one source, added it to "Britain’s Foreign Secretary has insisted intelligence co-operation with Israel will continue, particularly on Iran, despite the diplomatic backlash over UK sanctions on illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank.", then you joined them up to make a claim there is no evidence for.

You done the same with the MP it seems. You took what he said out of context, changed it a bit, added in extra dots, then made an unproven claim.

I suppose it makes a change from the ' I earn £500k a year and my DH earns a million. We're a bit skint. How can I get my Harrods shop down to £100 a week for us and our 7 DC's?'
