Or read the posts on here. The tiger being fine is not a confirmed fact as far as the news is reporting?

It’s what’s being said on local Facebook page. Agree it’s not guaranteed.

BBC has just updated to specify that the tiger was uninjured so hopefully they tiger is allowed to live and isn’t punished for this guys actions

Only on MN would conversation disintegrate into what time someone posted and questioning what is fact and what is gossip or scaremongering
At the end of the day a young man has lost his life , he is probably someone’s son , partner , brother , friend , colleague and no matter the circumstances someone today is devastated by his actions
A healthy animal did what he naturally would do and we all hope he will be looked after and treated accordingly.

Oh please, not everything has to be about mental health and hashtag be kind. This was Darwinism in action. He did something fucking stupid and I just hope the poor innocent tiger is ok.

That’s the point - we don’t know. Maybe he was suicidal, maybe he was pushed, maybe he is a twat. But let’s not let facts get in the way of people spewing hateful bile all over the internet.

Keepoffmyartichokes · 10/10/2026 18:21

The tiger is 100% fine

likelysuspect · 10/10/2026 18:21

I hope the tiger is ok

For another poster up thread saying if someone is suicidal there is help, how naive

You really dont get any help

In any case there isnt evidence to say he was or wasnt suicidal, we dont know, it will be disclosed at the inquiry probably.

NEWS: Update following incident at Yorkshire Wildlife Park

At 1.35pm today (Saturday 10 October) we received reports of a man entering a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

The tiger subsequently attacked the man, resulting in serious injury.

Emergency services attended and sadly, despite the best efforts of medical personnel, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man's family is aware and is being supported by specialist officers. Our thoughts are with them at this distressing time.

Regarding rumours surrounding the condition of the tiger, the animal was uninjured and remained in the enclosure following the incident and there is no wider risk to the public.

Following the incident, Yorkshire Wildlife Park was evacuated and officers remain on scene carrying out enquiries.

We are aware of videos circulating online and we would encourage people not to share this footage.

Keepoffmyartichokes · 10/10/2026 18:23

From what I've heard locally he was with someone and they were shouting at the tigers trying to aggrevate them and he then climbed in. I would assume not suicidal but definitely some mental health issues. No sane person climbs into that enclosure with 2 tigers, surely.

FionnulaTheCooler · 10/10/2026 18:24

The footage reminds me of the way my cat used to do the same to the field mice she caught regularly, teasing them for a while before the kill. Must be a pretty horrific way to go. That's what cats do though, it's nature's way and I hope there are no repercussions for the tiger.

How awful for people just having a day at the zoo and then that happens.

I’m glad they didn’t have to shoot the tiger. It was very traumatic for the staff when they had to shoot a gorilla when a similar thing happened - Cincinnati zoo I think?

Greebocat · 10/10/2026 18:24

According to the Daily Mail,(not the most reliable), the man has died but the tiger is okay.

BBC is saying exactly the same, so I think this can be taken as accurate.

ExtraHotDoubleShot · 10/10/2026 18:25

I feel for the staff who have had to cope with that. Also the Park as they will lose thousands for something that's not their fault and they are already still struggling since COVID.

Yes, no doubt witnessed by lots of people, including children, who will be very traumatized. It's sad for the man and his family, it is also an incredibly selfish way to harm yourself.

BBC are quoting the police and the wording seems to be exactly the same on a couple of sites so think it can be taken as accurate :)

OonaStubbs · 10/10/2026 18:28

I saw the video earlier and it didn't look like the tiger really badly attacked the guy so I was surprised to read that he died. I guess the attack must have been escalated from there. I don't know what does through people's minds at times. Even if suicidal there are better ways to go about doing it than being attacked by a tiger. Hopefully he wasn't a social media "creator" doing it for clicks.

Whipsnade had to shoot two brown bears when they escaped in 2021 and you can tell it’s left a huge mark on the staff there.

IFeelLikeChickenTonite · 10/10/2026 18:30

Maybe the gun shots were tranquilliser shots? So hopefully the tiger is ok. It was only acting on its natural instincts after all. As well as everyone involved, I feel sorry for the park that has to close now for two days losing a lot of income. Hope they compensate the staff who now have to take the time off.

I dont think you can get pushed into a tiger enclosure, they usually have very high fences. It would be an unusual method of suicide, and regardless fairly cruel to endanger the life of the tiger and do it in front of children.

He’s died, sadly. Tiger OK.

Man dies after tiger attack at wildlife park https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c6n9r3n7858zo

That headline is so misleading. It makes it sound like the tiger started it.
