The tiger is fine and the man is injured but alive. It been discussed (but not confirmed) that the man may have had additional needs

Why do so many people post inaccurate news like it’s fact?

CinnamonBuns67 · 10/10/2026 18:14

I live not in the same town as the zoo but in a nearby town and go to YWP regularly. I just hope the tiger is still alive, as they shouldn't be killed for human behaviour (mental health or otherwise), the tiger did no wrong. I also hope the man gets all the mental health support he needs and that he gets better.

Edited to say just seen the man died, what an awful thing to happen.

IzzyLeng · 10/10/2026 18:14

I e seen a video online. Things obviously must have deteriorated because in the clip I saw the man is sat up wagging his finger at the tiger who looked like it was playing around a bit. Guess it’s like a cat with a bird though, they play for a bit before getting serious.

Awful

I’ve seen the footage, it’s shocking. Obviously a completely unhinged and reckless thing to do but i strongly suspect there are underlying issues - mental health or learning difficulties who knows. Nobody in their right mind is going to jump in there for a laugh and lots of the comments on social media are very unpleasant. Obviously hope the tiger is ok too.

Exactly, Im probably the only one who remembers the cat man who jumped into the lion (or big cat) enclosure at London Zoo in the 80s/90s, he went to a psychiatric hospital afterwards, not sure for how long. People get obsessive and fixated either MH or ND or a mixture of both. Very dangerous.

The BBC is reporting differently.

It was fact 15 minutes ago. I didn’t refresh the news before I posted.

danniT2 · 10/10/2026 18:15

I agree the tiger didn’t deserve to be hurt but the comments about the man especially those gloating over his death are fucking gross.

I think it’s a delicate situation. I sometimes think that people who jump in front of trains/lorries are selfish due to the impact it has on the respective drivers as well as other transport users - but then I remind myself that the people who carry out these acts aren’t in a stable frame of mind.

We should wait for the facts before we judge.

Or read the posts on here. The tiger being fine is not a confirmed fact as far as the news is reporting?

It had been updated before that person posted, and there is no confirmation on the news that the tiger is alive as far as I can see.

A lot of these types of people arent actually mentally ill though, they are often ND. Not a diagnosible, treatable MH condition, what service would he sit under. Obviously Im spectulating but a huge number of my service users are like this. There isnt any 'treatment' as such.

Oh please, not everything has to be about mental health and hashtag be kind. This was Darwinism in action. He did something fucking stupid and I just hope the poor innocent tiger is ok.

Rituelec · 10/10/2026 18:17

Sky news doesnt say the tiger wasn't shot. People on SM are saying tiger was shot.

I only know what I read that the man has unfortunately died and the tiger is safe in its enclosure?

ShutupLwren · 10/10/2026 18:18

Poor fella, hope he’s at peace now.

Glad tiger is okay, poor thing probably had a hell of a day.

ChorizoDog · 10/10/2026 18:19

The title of that article is so misleading.

A tiger didn’t attack. A human intimidated a tiger and got hurt 🤷🏼‍♀️
