Thinking of all the victims of the 07 October attacks (and their families and friends).

And the Jewish community everywhere.

Can you imagine this happening anywhere else in the world and it receiving the same lack of coverage, especially on and around the anniversary?

Honestly, I can’t.

Today is a day to remember and honour those lost, and who have lost.

Sending love and support to our Israeli and Jewish sisters today as they mourn those who were so brutally tortured and murdered three years ago.

Those of us who were online that day saw what was being done - and how it was CELEBRATED. Anyone who excuses or defends this is morally repugnant.

We continue our fight against the rise of Antisemitism and have been heartened by how many people support and agree with us.

We are active on Substack FB, Insta and X and have a podcast - if you want to find out more about us a quick google will get you there.

My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the awful October 7th attacks. The images and stories I've seen and read about that terrible attack will always stay with me.

My blood boils at the pathetic bunch protesting down in London today, fair few wearing face masks or using umbrellas to disguise their identities, waving Palestine flags on the third anniversary of the October 7th massacre... it begs belief that they thought it was appropriate.

And when the Israeli retaliation happened, why couldn't the people of Gaza get shelter in the extensive tunnel network? Because it was being used to imprison and torture innocent hostages.

I think you are being generous to Hamas here. The tunnel network was more like an underground city, many hundreds of miles long and at least double layered. There was plenty of room to hide hostages and shelter civilians.

Hamas chose not to shelter their citizens. Nor to build any bomb shelters to protect their civilians in the war they were planning to start. Why would any government make those choices? Because to Hamas, the death of their own civilians has been good publicity to turn gullible westerners against Israel.

The reality is all those civilians who died in the war Hamas deliberately started would be alive if Hamas had not started the war. And most of them would be alive if Hamas had hid them in their tunnels once the war did start.

It was an horrific attack in which many atrocities were committed. This was not some brave uprising against oppression, it was a slaughter of innocents. My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected.

As a fellow African I'd like to remember Joshua Mollel today. He must have been so excited and full of hope for the future when he departed Tanzania to go and study agriculature in Israel.

Being undeservedly charitable I think those of us who were online that day have a completely different take.

Thinking of all those murdered in the most barbaric of ways, especially the parents who watched their children murdered and the children who watched their parents murdered, the many heroes who held out to their last breath trying to fight back and save others, the many accounts I’ve read today of these atrocities will never leave my mind. Thinking too of all those left behind who have to live with what happened to their loved ones forever.

RedLeicesterBlueCheese · 07/10/2026 15:19

The Telegraph has a story about young people hiding in a rubbish container and their last text messages to their families.

It’s heartbreaking.

I’ve had a message from Mumsnet HQ.

I’m guessing because it says ‘reported content’ at the bottom someone has complained?

Hi GunnelVallquist,
We have moved your thread to Chat, where it is more suitably placed. Please, in future, could we ask you not to post in AIBU for traffic unless you have an AIBU. Otherwise it can read as needlessly provocative, which would obviously be seen as grossly offensive on a day like today and run counter to your aim for the thread.
Best wishes,
MNHQ

A disappointing but not surprising act of cowardice.

I only ever see “What is your AIBU?” from posters attempting to censor the topic. Are
we to now expect more thorough policing of posts to ensure that there is a genuine dilemma?

Newrumpus · 07/10/2026 15:34

I’m so tempted to report every post that doesn’t have an AIBU

This is about October 7th.

It’s fine to use an anniversary to remember a specific group of people that suffered on that day.

’Needlessly provocative’ and ‘grossly offensive’ just for placing a memorial thread for an atrocity in the incorrect topic? Wow. That wording was certainly a… decision.

Last time I went back to comment on a thread talking specifically against antisemitism, it had been deleted for being ‘against talk guidelines’. So yeah, that was a decision too.

To who, exactly? I mean, I'm assuming some of the deleted posts came under that heading.

I keep re-reading it, are they maybe suggesting it’s offensive towards the victims by putting it in AIBU? But it’s more than obvious that’s not the OP’s intent which they’ve referenced themselves.

I don’t apportion any blame to MN, but it has evidently triggered some of the pro-Palestine/anti-Israel posters.

That’s how I read it, anyway.

@MNHQ can you explain why this one was moved, yet this one, far more provocative about 9/11 in August this year, was allowed to stay in AIBU?
