07 Oct Attacks Anniversary

Thinking of all the victims of the 07 October attacks (and their families and friends).

And the Jewish community everywhere.

I saw a post online which basically said that three years later people still aren’t asking the real questions.

Just picking out a few…

Why did crowds in Gaza cheer when they learned women were being raped and children were being burned?

How can feminists look at the systematic sexual violence of October 7
and still march under the same flags?

How can LGBTQ activists scream "Free Palestine" for a regime that would throw them off rooftops?

Why is there no global outrage for the Christians being slaughtered in Nigeria, the women in Iran, the millions dead in Sudan and Congo...
but endless marches when
Jews defend themselves?

And the most important question of all:
Why are so many people still more comfortable blaming the victims than confronting the ideology that celebrated their
murder?

I’m pleased to say I’ve seen several thoughtful pieces recently. I won’t share them here as they aren’t relevant, but it’s reassuring that there are clear sighted people who don’t think the only democracy in that part of the world should give in to the death cultists.

GunnelVallquist · 09/10/2026 16:41

Maybe I should start a new thread, asking if IABU to think the above questions are valid.

Would that one be allowed to remain in AIBU or be moved to Chat as well I wonder.

I can’t adequately express my disgust that people would come on this thread and effectively claim that Israel deserved it, and that people would march for the people who carried out this atrocity on the anniversary of it. And that we didn’t prevent it.

You were right when you referred to it as a cult. Because that’s what it is at this point.

It’s impossible to have a rational debate because a lot of people are so far gone.

Hamas must be rubbing their hands gleefully and thanking their lucky stars there are so many useful idiots.

To be honest, I've been hearing and asking those and similar questions for three years now. The problem is the people who don't want to hear the questions, far less answer them.

I've encountered pro-Pali people who when I mention October 7th have actually said out loud - what happened then? They seemed genuinely not to know. Fuckwits - they're everywhere.

Shocking.

But not surprising perhaps.

Probably getting their ‘news’ from Tiktok.

I despair.

I think that one would be allowed to stay in AIBU if phrased like you suggest. Can’t see how they could justify moving it.

It would just be one big pile on though, wouldn’t it?

I can just see all the vile comments.

And then thread would be pulled anyway.

That’s the worst bit, it seems impossible to talk about this without being shouted down. And then people still claim there is no antisemitism!

There probably would be vile comments by the usual suspects.

To be honest. I wish it wasn’t so.

And to think some of them are probably raising children.

For anyone interested, a documentary with English subtitles has been released on youtube which covers the events of October 7 at Soroka Hospital using video from the hospital security cameras. It is harrowing but well worth a watch.

Thank you for that, I will watch it.

I also watched ‘We will dance again’ which really stayed with me.

That’s why it infuriates me when I see all the vile comments on here and elsewhere. And the marches.

And certain celebrities who really should know better.
