Thinking of all the victims of the 07 October attacks (and their families and friends).

And the Jewish community everywhere.

’Needlessly provocative’ and ‘grossly offensive’ just for placing a memorial thread for an atrocity in the incorrect topic? Wow. That wording was certainly a… decision.

Last time I went back to comment on a thread talking specifically against antisemitism, it had been deleted for being ‘against talk guidelines’. So yeah, that was a decision too.

Edited

Ouch at those words for a memorial thread.

It speaks volumes.

It really does.

"Obviously" be seen?

Not obvious to me.

"Could" be seen, possibly. Sounds like someone didn't like the thread.

I keep re-reading it, are they maybe suggesting it’s offensive towards the victims by putting it in AIBU? But it’s more than obvious that’s not the OP’s intent which they’ve referenced themselves.

When I’ve seen them move sensitive things in the past, they’ve given an appropriately thoughtful message. This is just…

But the 9/11 memorial posts were also in AIBU.

Yes, I’ve seen them there. There’s also a post today about the prevalence of women being raped when travelling to the UK via small boats. I certainly hope that poster hasn’t also received an email suggesting they’re being provocative and offensive.

As a fellow African I'd like to remember Joshua Mollel today. He must have been so excited and full of hope for the future when he departed Tanzania to go and study agriculature in Israel.

We have a Jewish saying: One who saves a life is like one who has saved an entire world. Because by saving that person’s life they have saved all their descendants, too.

So remember Joshua Mollel,
another life extinguished, another future extinguished by terrorism.

I was stunned when I received that email.

It does read like a bit of a telling off tbh. Don't know if that was the intention or not but it could have been softer in the wording considering how sensitive a subject it is.

Yes, thank you.

When I first read it I immediately felt like I’d done something wrong.

I can understand if you don't want to pursue it with Mumsnet HQ @GunnelVallquist but I think it should be back in AIBU. They can't shift it over to Chat and not do it for other AIBUs that also don't fit the bill. It is hypocritical. And leads to further questions as to why this thread in particular has been singled out.

This is clearly a memorial thread and there's nothing provocative about it! The wording of that email is suspect tbh...

But how would I go about raising it?

And what if they just end up giving me a ban to make me go away?

I agree though; why is this thread being singled out?

It’s not right and I’d feel the same if someone else had started it.

People are on the streets of London, today, calling for an Intifada and chanting "from the river to the sea", and spewing race hate outside the Board of Deputies of British Jews.
Today. Of all days.

I would just email them one-on-one.

I doubt you will be banned - that would be wholly unreasonable.

I have no idea. It's shocking.
The Board of Deputies is a community organisation, right?
So offensive.

GunnelVallquist · 07/10/2026 17:48

I think all those useful idiots on the marches should be made to look at photos/ videos of the barbaric attacks.

Then again, maybe a lot of them aren’t just useful idiots and actually depraved themselves.

They all disgust me so much.

It's absolutely disgusting, isn't it? So much hate.
Someone might say "oh it's only small numbers of people" So? It's still hate, it's still incitement and it's still on our streets.

They simply do not care. Any attempt to get them to engage with the atrocities of October 7 just leads to banging on about the Hannibal Directive and claiming Israel murdered hundreds of its own citizens.

The storyville documentary on it was one of the worst things I’ve ever watched. Save your whataboutery and antisemitism until tomorrow at least.

The fact they can’t stop even on the anniversary tells you all you need to know about these people.
