Thinking of all the victims of the 07 October attacks (and their families and friends).

And the Jewish community everywhere.

Remembering all those beautiful young people at Nova and for all who were murdered on October 7th.
Prayers for you always.
I stand with Israel.

NancyThompson · 07/10/2026 12:27

I thought I'd seen all the footage of the atrocities. Today, on X, I've seen footage that is new to me. Sickened and shaken all over again.

I'm being a coward and not looking when stuff comes up. It's too horrible.

I haven’t seen much if any but the messages from the Nova festival from young people hiding to their parents made me cry.

Absolutely sickening. I have a 2 and 3 year old and I look at them and think, how ? Just fucking how?!

Completely agree.

There were two atrocities, of course - the one on the 7th October 2023, and then the ongoing one now, where some still try to defend Hamas.

Very sick people.

And some criticise Tel Aviv for waging such terrible retribution against Hamas.

I would have done exactly the same and take some small solace in terrorists being ‘neutralised’ still today.

They all make me sick.

Screeching ‘Free Palestine’ and intimidating Jewish people.

And then today, of all days.

No shame, no decency.

No moral compass.

Vile.

My heart goes to all the October 7th victims and their families. It was one of the most shocking events that happened in my life time, up there with 11th September.

Wishing love and peace to Israel.

localnotail · 07/10/2026 12:48

Let see how many Palestinians, and how many of their supporters, are going to solemmnly commemorate the innocent victims, as any decent people would on such day - without dragging Gaza and Israeli government's actions into it.

Probably none.

Quite.

And how many Gazans have been offerered refuge by any Islamic country since October 2023?

Also, none.

I went onto x just now and searched for October 7. First post I saw, the opening line said no one gives a fuck about October 7. I closed the app. It hits harder today.

sunflowersintheday · 07/10/2026 13:00

And when the Israeli retaliation happened, why couldn't the people of Gaza get shelter in the extensive tunnel network? Because it was being used to imprison and torture innocent hostages.

TalkingintheDark · 07/10/2026 13:22

Thank you for starting this thread, OP. I too am thinking of all the victims of the atrocities of October 7th, and their families and loved ones. And of those who survived, especially those who eventually made it home, but now live with the trauma of what was done to them, those they loved and their communities.

I am Muslim and as anti-Netanyahu as they come, but goodness today is about remembering the innocents of 7/10. The terror they must have felt and the horror they experienced. I often think of the poor poor mum of Shani Louk and the memories and flashbacks of her beloved daughter that she must endure daily. Bless all that died and suffered that day, and their families. X

Well said.

BewaretheIckabog · 07/10/2026 13:40

I’m trying to word this post carefully. I am not minimising or playing down the rise in antisemitism. I understand why Jewish people feel afraid. I am disgusted by the hate marches and protests.

However, there are about 70 million people in the UK and more than 9 million in London, a minuscule number are still attending these hate rallies. I’m not saying a couple of thousand people glorifying terror and celebrating an horrific atrocity is ok but I truly believe there are far more British people opposed to these demonstrations.

Green Party membership is about 0.3% of the population.

It feels bleak. Most politicians are weak and listen to the rabble rousers and loudest voices.

I am lucky enough not to work in the public sector or live near a university campus and the people around me do not hate Jews or Israel. They understand the conflict in the ME is a complex situation. The majority of people I know are more likely to support Israel than shill for Hamas or the IRCG.

I still, hopefully not naively, believe we are in the main a decent, tolerant society.

I have been heartened by the backlash I have seen toward the Green Party both in real life and online. The people around me do not want to see Israel dismantled.

Remember the Labour Party was unelectable under Corbyn.

I know that doesn’t alleviate the fear and the voices calling out antisemitism and hate have been too quiet. As a British person I am sorry and going forward I will be more pro-active calling out the hate and supporting our wonderful Jewish communitie.

Is it true that babies were murdered ?

I am shocked and saddened that anyone has to ask.

sunflowersintheday · 07/10/2026 13:47

@BewaretheIckabog. You're using numbers here in order to attempt to minimise the fear and intimidation felt by Jewish people.
It's like a woman, fearful of walking home ar night is told she's "over reacting"., look at the numbers!
Maybe 69m people didn't take part in those marches, but they were intimidating and they fanned the flames of hatred.
The impact was spread far and wide. If Jewish people tell us that they are afraid and that they have to conceal their identity - we should listen.
This is not a free and diverse society if our Jewish population cannot live their lives openly.

Interesting to look back on the thread started on that date and the views expressed in the heat of that moment 3 years ago. www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4914836-to-ask-if-we-can-please-try-to-have-palestine-and-israel-thread-where-we-acknowledge-how-awful-it-is-for-everyone-but-try-not-to-throw-shit-at-each-other?page=39

Beyond heartbreaking.

Can you imagine this happening anywhere else in the world and it receiving the same lack of coverage, especially on and around the anniversary?

Or being justified.
Or minimised.

And the fact that this thread has been banished to Chat is part of this.

Brushing it under the carpet.

Nothing to see here.
