No agenda and no judgement, as in the title how long would it take you to drink half a bottle of white wine? One that you like.

If out for dinner then probably 2 hours.

If at home, having a half glass with dinner, probably a week.

comealongdobbeh · 03/10/2026 22:59

Years. Can’t stand the stuff!

SkyLark79 · 03/10/2026 23:03

Half a bottle with food, less than half an hour x

ReadingSoManyThreads · 03/10/2026 23:05

I don't drink alcohol so wouldn't ever touch it.

Depends on the situation.

An hour maybe two. It would be red though I don’t like white! Not drinking currently as on a diet so actually about six months as I will drink at Christmas.

maggisimpson · 04/10/2026 00:41

Two glasses would be an hour max.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/10/2026 01:02

The only time I drink white wine now it’s champagne or Prosecco on my birthday with DH and (adult) DD so I never have half a bottle.
Red wine similar - one good bottle with Xmas lunch and there’s usually a bit left to have with cheese for supper.

Wednesdaysotherchild · 04/10/2026 01:32

Really don’t like wine these days… I’d struggle!

SENsupportplease · 04/10/2026 01:57

Half a bottle? So 2 glasses? If I was in a good mood, 20 minutes

BobbleBear · 03/10/2026 21:27

A year? I don’t drink it by the glass but tend to use alcohol in cooking occasionally, so I might open a bottle of something and bung it in the utility fridge door and then completely forget about it for several months. DH doesn’t drink either.

Not what she was asking but congratulations

menopausequeen · 04/10/2026 06:28

About an hour

wanderingwillows · 04/10/2026 06:41

2 hours

OrdinaryGirl · 04/10/2026 06:44

3 weeks!? And it would have gone off way before then

Life is infinitely better without alcohol

If they could make non alcoholic drinks that genuinely taste like wine, gin etc, I would drink them. I like the taste and do not like sweet drinks so don't drink 'pop'.

Cruzcampo alcohol free lager is pretty good and I drink that quite regularly. I've heard the Guinness version is good but I don't like Guinness.

Of the wine style ones, white fizz is the least worst but still a bit bland sweet rather than tasting like a good dry cava, cremante or champagne. White is too sweet and alcohol free red is just revolting.

Alcohol free gin is just extremely expensive cordial that tastes nothing like gin no matter what anyone says.

We just finished a bottle of nice white wine in an hour watching an episode of what we love and was thinking it felt fast and was just wondering what other people did. It’s been a stressful week at work and was just wondering.

Half a bottle is like 2 glasses isn't it? - I guess it's quite fast but it's not that much really if you're relaxing and having a nice time.

Wouldn't do it every night but it's fine!

For full disclosure I can drink much more than this was just wondering about the speed ratio!

I used to be worried about the speed i drank alcoholic drinks. Then I realised that I do just drink all drinks really fast- water, hot drinks, etc.

Also, it depends what you drink. I mostly have wine and cocktails, so only 125-250ml which is quite a small volume, and don't stay cold for long. The same volume of beer would take me far longer to drink.

Now I've realised I can drink a lot in short period of time, I limit myself to 1-4 alcoholic drinks depending on the occasion.

That's my experience too.
Though I appreciate its not the same for everyone..

There is a 0% one called Divin (white Sav blanc I think + red) which is - as the name suggests- divine. It's the price of a good wine, but it's worth it.

morbidcuriosity · 04/10/2026 08:22

Well its 3 large glasses.. and my first glass is usually gone in 20 minutes or half hour.. so I reckon 1.5 glasses is probably 45 minutes maybe..

sometimes the first glass goes down quite quick though..

DominoLover51 · 04/10/2026 08:24

Probably about 30 mins if I was just out having g a drink, but that’s if I made the effort to slow down a bit. My usual tipple is cider. A pint typically lasts me about 30 mins, but if I’m thirsty I have to make a real effort to slow down.

Temporaryname158 · 04/10/2026 08:26

It’s less the speed, although that does indicate you were drinking v fast and perhaps not stopping to savour it? But more that you are blaming a stressful week. So I’d be asking the question, do you drink as you enjoy the flavour/experience with your partner/it’s a nice treat, or is it some sort of stress relieving crutch?

if it’s the later you need to think more about that, if it’s the former I do t think you’d be gulping it down so fast

AmberTigerEyes · 03/10/2026 21:28

About six months because I cook with it now and again and don’t drink it.
Hoping the no judgement still holds with this honest reply.

Edited

Only judgement is I would think the wine would spoil?

Personally I wouldn't know, but am interested in those that keep wine for cooking for months on end - is it really still useable?

ThreeMogsAndCounting · 03/10/2026 20:15

Well ive got one in my fridge. Its been there about two or three months at this point...

If it’s already been opened you might as well tip the rest away now as it will have oxidised and gone bad after that amount of time.
