But seriously, I don't read usernames, I just skim right over them to the posts. I remember situations posted about if they are unique enough but rarely the name attached to them. Not any more. As others have said, the site is huge, everyone name changes, it's much more anonymous.

Which has its good points, one being that your posts are judged by their content not your name.

Although I some ways it is a bit sad to lose that community feeling when everyone 'knew' everyone.

I loved ‘stuckinpollyannamode’ - does anyone remember her threads. Her writing style was fab and it was like reading Carrie Bradshaw but of a single mums of two kids getting divorced. I think she left MN.

I think this is generally true - the site is so huge, and many people name change, so it's hard to know who is who.

But I do like that when I post my (admittedly niche and not for everyone) Playmobil scenes, I always see some of the usual suspects on there. Lovely if newer people post too, but it's kind of comforting to see posters you recognise.

I'm bad with remembering off the top of my head but if I see a username I recognise on a thread, I do usually immediately think ''I'll probably agree with them'' or ''Oh no, not them again'' etc depending on the subject because I don't always agree with the same people.

Gutted is a strong word though.

I remember MN royalty when all this was fields...

I only notice the names of people who are complete twats. I don't recognise any of the names here or the ones that have been frequently said.I think a lot of people name change regularly too.

Oh yes i was coming on to say thepeopleversuswork. I don't usually focus on names but this one has registered with me a few times. An intelligent voice of reason always.

I have dipped in and out of Mumsnet for many years, a Latin sounding poster I'm remembering from around 2013? Cogitoergosometimes was the name, I remember her being on here a lot then she disappeared.

Yes, Lucysmam’s posts are a delight. So cosy and easy to visualise her in the kitchen with her morning cup of tea and cats. She has mentioned her health problems, best wishes and love, Lucysmam.
She is one of the few posters I would love to meet in real life.

I thought the 'banned poster' referenced earlier in the thread was TSC, I remember that whole episode being very cringeworthy.

I miss GetOrfMoiLand, she was so funny. But I agree I don't really clock usernames any more, I think it's because of the autofill function now, we used to have to manually type them out to engage in conversation. Also there are just so many posters now and people are so much more conscious of anonymity so very few people keep the same name for years.

NoddyHolder from way back. She’s just stuck in my head. I can’t remember exactly why but I think she was amusing, funny, one of the old guard.
She left mumsnet, must be over 10 years ago.
