You know the ones. You see their username and think, excellent, they’re here.

Who are your Mumsnet favourites? No smooching required, just appreciation. 😏

Well I certainly enjoy and appreciate the Playmobil threads. Many thanks.
Imo MN is too big for cliques. CBA with them. If they do exist, hopefully they’ll fly over my head.

Et, I think a few cliques still exist…

Royal threads anyone? 😬🫣🤐

@Electraby I didn't know BitOfFun died, can I ask when that was?

I thought the 'banned poster' referenced earlier in the thread was TSC, I remember that whole episode being very cringeworthy.

I miss GetOrfMoiLand, she was so funny. But I agree I don't really clock usernames any more, I think it's because of the autofill function now, we used to have to manually type them out to engage in conversation. Also there are just so many posters now and people are so much more conscious of anonymity so very few people keep the same name for years.

I was just trying to remember whether she was the one that had the raven, but I think maybe that was SarahStratton?

I remember stories too, the poster who was a widow and then met somebody new and we all cheered along from the sidelines.

And the very lovely poster who fostered babies, including those who were born addicted. Really beautiful threads, actually, I’m worried she might’ve been one of the posters who passed away, but she was incredible.

@WearyAuldWumman

She agrees with a lot of my comments and I like reading her comments about her life.

Thecomedyclub · 02/10/2026 23:33

@pigletjohn would
be sorely missed as they have provided many, many people with amazing help, assistance and support.

sherbetlemonade · 02/10/2026 23:37

There's several people who pop up fairly often on the gardening board but my head is like a sieve today.

That sounds like a riddle….
I’ve not been on the Gardening board much lately, I was gutted when MereDintOfPandiculation decided to leave. She was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.

It was quite a few years ago now, at least 5 but might be even longer. She had a thread when she was quite poorly asking for advice for a final holiday which she sadly didn’t get to go on.

WouldYouLikeAnyToast · 03/10/2026 00:20

OMG, I see this is really a love in fest. Don't disagree with any FWR name 😂 Otherwise deleted.
Yet they're usually for free speech and against "hurty feelz."
"We let things stand to see how it is! Sunlight!"
OK. 😁

Some of the ‘absolute dickheads’ I referenced in my PP are the same people being named on here as ‘posters they’d be gutted to see disappear’. Which just shows how subjective it is I guess 😬

Yes, one of the posters who has been mentioned is someone I've always assumed was trolling us all!

Ratherhaveacupofteaandabiscuit · 02/10/2026 21:29

Are we back at school cosying up to the popular girls?

Yes. That's about right. Don't say ooh no to a name mentioned as you get deleted if you don't agree that they're high beings or something. 🙄

I agree with WearyAuldWumman also the feisty NovemberMorn.
Most other names don't register.

It was before my time here but i wish posie parker posts were accesible

Why? Is that the content you came to MN for and with nothing to do with parenting (fair enough if so)

AndyouWILLATONE · 02/10/2026 19:43

There was a time she was a favourite of mine. Then I realised we had totally different views on many different things. She often still makes me smile though!

So now we’re discussing posters?

”oooh, I used to like her, now I’m not sure..”

Not ok.

XenaSharples · 03/10/2026 00:56

I don't really notice names that much. I change mine all the time, and I assume many others do the same.

That name popped into my head today for some reason. It's one of the few I notice.

Toffeefudgecaramel · 03/10/2026 01:08

I still remember how good Redtoothbrush was on Brexit - I used to feel that I knew a lot more about Brexit than the people around me who weren't on Mumsnet. These days I sometimes notice her on the feminism threads, and she talks sense on those, too (in my view).

Because she is very forthright about a paticular issue and would not back down and got banned, and i wonder if her posts then were more temperate, and if they would be allowed now. Or if she was always as unequivocal then as now.

Does anyone else read a post and think this has to be so and so under a name change? Like you recognise their style of writing?

One for sure. She posts a LOT of GIFs.

The fosterer was EMIN (EarthMotherI’mNot). Sadly she died. Her daughter posted on here to tell us. She was an amazing woman and the thread about her addicted foster baby was so memorable. I’ve reread it as it’s in classics. To hear she had died was so very sad.

Lampzade · 03/10/2026 02:01

I barely recognise names these days
As others have said , MN royalty is a thing of the past.
I have been on MN for many years when it was much smaller . I thoroughly enjoyed it
I have name changed over the years and I think that many others have too. Sometimes I can still recognise posters by their writing style
MN is definitely not what it used to be

Ohyesiwill2 · 03/10/2026 02:55

"Gutted" over a person you don't know and will never meet not posting on an often crappy and occasionally interesting site I occasionally visit? No, no.

Tbh if mumsnet shut down, along with Reddit, Tumblr and most of the rest of the internet it would be a good thing. But it passes the time when I'm bored or feeling unwell and can't do too much.

I rather like Wearyauldwumman's responses though.

Doubleth · 03/10/2026 02:56

FindingMeno · 02/10/2026 19:45

I don't notice any more.
MN royalty is a thing of the past.

Agree. Endless posts chirruping "I agree with Worra!" did get a bit annoying.

I've been on MN for 18 years and change my name very often, sometimes weekly. It depends on how much I've posted or who I've interacted with.
