What’s something you learnt as an adult that made you think that’s completely obvious and yet I have never considered that….i feel like a bit of a plonker?

Mine was when taking tablets, the more you drink with it the better it will dissolve. I think alot of tablets are testing with the assumption people will drink 250ml alongside it.

I thought water polo meant people riding horses in a swimming pool.

It wasn't too many years ago when I discovered rice Krispies were actually made from rice 😂. I just couldn't believe it. The person who had expanded my knowledge that day, just said 'well, what did you think they were made from?'. Hmmm

I suppose I was technically an adult when I realised for good that the Biblical history of Mankind was allegorical. As a child, I literally believed in Adam and Eve, Noah's Ark, Heaven and Hell as physical places, and all that other nonsense.

That Brussels sprouts aren’t just tiny cabbages bred to be picked young (like a cabbagey version of baby corn).
It blew my mind when I saw them at a farmers market growing off a stem. In my defence I had a very urban childhood and had only seen them bagged in supermarkets.

Tipping back makes it not work for me. My chemist friend said to me have a drink, then take another bit of water, keep in the mouth then post the tablet thought the lips and swallow. This helped me immeasurably as I had decade of struggling to take tablets. My son learnt by taking them in ice cream until he could do it just with a drink.

I was on holiday with a friend of a friend who is far brighter than I am and she said that she took her tampon out to pee and I explained that she didn't need to do that and drew her a sectional diagram of why. She was amazed. She was 32.

That's not true

Very ancient boats had a hole in the middle called a 'moon pool' though. The idea being that the movement of the water within it would act as a pump and pull air in and out of the rest of the boat to act as ventilation.

I'm in my 70s too. We were always told to have a good rinse after brushing. The advice changed and I learnt about not rinsing several years ago. But, like most health advice, they may well change their minds again!

Well done. My point was that thinking less of a man for not knowing about the internal workings of a woman is ridiculous, when women don’t always know.

Of course it’s always clear on threads like this that some women judge other women for not knowing.
