What small things do you look forward to each day?

Going through a tough patch at the minute and realised I am just going through life never looking forward to or enjoying anything.

What do you look forward to? What helps to get you through the day. Hoping to find things I can add to my day or week.

The first cup of tea after finishing work. It helps my brain switch from work to home (whether I've been in the office or not).
I've just started knitting a scarf. I need to be able to switch off from my thoughts and this has been perfect: I'm a novice knitter so I have to only concentrate on that. I only do 3 or 4 rows each evening but I look forward to it and seeing it grow slowly is really satisfying.

MintedOnVinted · 14/09/2026 12:45

Making a nice drink. It can be just a cup of coffee but using a nice creamer from America, or making a ‘crispy’ Diet Coke

The first coffee of the day in bed.
A walk with the dog in the fields near my house.

LaurieFairyCake · 14/09/2026 12:54

Dog cuddling. I have 2 very cuddly dogs who like to sit on me at all times. There’s nothing nicer than finishing work, picking one up and plonking her on my knee. I then get this long sigh of contentment from her that indicates she’s happy my day is over and she will then get to sit on my for the next 4 hours.

(this requires a dog)

I also like putting my pyjamas on, lighting a candle (or the fire in winter) and making myself 2 cups of different teas at once.

Hotdoughnut · 14/09/2026 12:55

Hot chocolate after the school run in the morning, before I turn my work computer on. Bliss.

Coffee and cats in the morning

10 mins to read a novel

Insight Timer meditation

Movement - Joe Wicks or Yoga with Adriene, and/or a walk while it's still light!

Funny memes sent from a friend

Nothing groundbreaking but help pause the daily grind!

Dog walk and podcast
Jigsaw
Bath and some messing about with face masks
Reading my book

DrunkenKoala · 14/09/2026 13:12

Morning glass of water and then morning coffee.

I used to love the return leg of the school run when kids were in primary school. The walk home took me through the park and that’s when I felt as though my head was clearing from the morning mayhem.

In the evening I love having half an hour in bed just reading before going to sleep.

Spaniels4Eva · 14/09/2026 13:12

My 1st coffee from my machine in the morning
Standing outside with the dogs as the sun comes up/goes down
A crisp autumn day with the smell of blackberries and bonfires in the air
Standing watching the stars in the sky at night - very grounding

The first coffee of the day! I go to bed thinking about it.

Taking the dogs for a walk in the evening and watching my greyhound do his little happy skip for the first few minutes. He's a rescue so I imagine he's thinking how amazing it is to have a family.

Needle felting pretty things. At the moment its pumpkins.

Blasting Bad Bunny in the car once the school runs over.

Seeing any bird or animal. Wag tails, squirrels, sheep, a cat, pheasants the baby seagull that lives on my neighbours roof. Just seeing animals going about their daily business.
