What small things do you look forward to each day?

Going through a tough patch at the minute and realised I am just going through life never looking forward to or enjoying anything.

What do you look forward to? What helps to get you through the day. Hoping to find things I can add to my day or week.

Morning cuddle with my children.
First iced coffee when it's warm outside.
Getting into bed at the end of the day!

spacecadet · 14/09/2026 14:05

Early morning cortado at my favourite coffee shop
Listening to latest ep of my favourite podcast
A line of Galaxy with a cup.of tea in the evening
Watching an episode of my favourite series
Browsing on Vinted
Making a mango and feta salad in the summer

MrsPapillon · 14/09/2026 14:06

10.30am - a coffee and Popmaster.

Laiste · 14/09/2026 15:33

Dinner finished with, washing up done, arse in chair - the hot chocolate and chill out before bed.

Laiste · 14/09/2026 15:34

Oh and dead heading the roses or the butterfly bushes in the sun - like just now 😊

frozendaisy · 14/09/2026 15:41

Having clothes and bags ready the night before and a clear kitchen surface to make coffee first thing

Having a tea with the teens when they get home for a quick chat about their day/anything needs doing

Getting a foot rub from H in the evening whilst complaining the didn’t release the whole of Ted Lasso series in one go (other tv series are available I believe)

Finding a book you actively try and find more time to read

A weekend meal (usually at home) with a nice glass of wine

rivalsbinge · 14/09/2026 15:43

My dog snuggles.

Pleasant1234 · 14/09/2026 15:48

The kids’ bedtime 😂 seriously though I’ve realised the exact same so I have started trying to tell myself how lucky I am to be able to do some things. Like today, while I was working out (don’t enjoy it) I told myself what a privilege it is to have the time and the body that allows me to do it and it does work. I saw some cheesy TikToks about adding some whimsy to your life that I’m going to take a little bit from. So for me, I love drinks, I’m not a big eater so I’m planning on making myself some lovely homemade coffees etc and try to be mindful whilst drinking. Sorry I know it’s hardly thrilling but I wanted to let you know I feel the same. I also know that anything big I won’t be able to maintain and I don’t want it to be a piece of cake or 2 hours watching a film because I’ll just feel worse afterwards.

Being with my dog and DH, a decent cup of tea , a sunny day, getting into clean jammies & clean bed after an evening shower. Rewatching some really old tv shows I thought I'd never see again on you tube . I'm easily pleased 😁

CountryGirlInTheCity · 14/09/2026 15:57

Reading a good book on the sofa when it’s raining outside.

That feeling after a good gym session (I’d highly recommend exercise for lifting the mood btw)

An impromptu dinner out with DH (even a quick trip to Waga’s if it means I don’t have to cook when I thought I would)

A long chat with my sister. Even better if it’s in person.

A weekend away with DH

CountryGirlInTheCity · 14/09/2026 16:00

Meant to add obvs DH and I aren’t away for the weekend all the time but we’ve usually got something in the calendar even if it’s a few months away and I enjoy daydreaming about a holiday/break to give me happy vibes!

Morning glass of water and then morning coffee.

I used to love the return leg of the school run when kids were in primary school. The walk home took me through the park and that’s when I felt as though my head was clearing from the morning mayhem.

In the evening I love having half an hour in bed just reading before going to sleep.

Also like to swim each morning (when possible).

PixelDustMom · 14/09/2026 16:05

A big one for me is sitting down at dinner time with my family and enjoying a nice meal. And right now I’m reading an amazing book so I look forward to getting everything done of an evening and sitting down to read with a cup of tea and a biscuits.

Daily life can be very mundane and it’s easy to get into a slump. Look for little glimmers, nothing big but something that makes you feel happy 💞

Feeding the garden birds first thing and seeing them fly in, especially the jays.
Going out to get a coffee, perfectly made for me by a professional, and walking back through the little garden cemetery/park.
Pottering in the kitchen after a day at my laptop, cooking dinner with the radio on.
Bed with tea and a good book.

God I'm old Grin

I live in Sydney so for most of the year the weather is nice enough to go straight outside after I wake up and sit on our balcony with a decent coffee (good machine) and do Wordle, read the paper and do the crossword. I really enjoy my peaceful mornings and look forward to getting up.

Autumnallaround · 14/09/2026 16:26

Coffee after my morning exercise. It's usually decaf because of the palpitations but I buy expensive beans and use a superb coffee maker. It can make me smile at bedtime, knowing I'm only 10hrs away from the first coffee.

Also my morning exercise. I've been doing weights for 15yrs and I adore that time on my own in the garage 'playing'.

OrchidRoseSunflower · 14/09/2026 16:30

Coming home, making a cup of tea and cuddling my fluffy dog. Comforting.

Walking in the countryside.

Hot shower, hair wash, then clean bedding and something interesting on tv.

ArcticBells · 14/09/2026 16:33

Nincompoo · 14/09/2026 12:48

Finishing work.

This!

OrchidRoseSunflower · 14/09/2026 16:35

Hanging the washing out early in the morning, with the birds singing and the rays of sunlight creeping through the trees 🌳

hotmumshit · 14/09/2026 16:35

Coke zero first thing - bad for you but wakes me up
A good meal for dinner

💐 xx

Desmondo2021 · 14/09/2026 16:36

My run, gym session or netball game, depending what day it is, my morning online puzzle routine with a cuppa and bed. Bed is the thing I look forward to most.

ImWearingPantaloons · 14/09/2026 16:42

My drive home from work then, when I get in, washing my hands using my lovely kitchen soap and making a cup of tea.

Cherrycola4 · 14/09/2026 16:44

Proper coffee with cream and brown sugar when I wake up.

Getting into my teenager’s bed for a quick snuggle and a catch up before sleeping is the best part of my day.

Greendiamondbee · 14/09/2026 16:46

Morning coffee, hopefully with 10 mins of everyone else still sleeping. Showering, PJs on. Watching my DD fall asleep holding my hand.

Lobsterteapot · 14/09/2026 16:52

Proper coffee from the machine
My candle warmer and nice candles
Guinea pigs cuddles
Wind down time with DS before bed (we either read next to each other, or watch a relaxing you tuber like Steve Marsh)
A big night out with friends (good to get things in the diary)
My beats headphones and podcasts like “Archive of pop culture” and “Cautionary tales”
Pick of the pops and Top of the pops 2
