As per the title, does anyone believe in ghosts?
I have had a couple of things happen in my life that were very strange. Has anyone else?
And it makes a nice change from talking about Bonnie Blue. 😀

Ooh I love threads like this, especially on a Friday, I will be back later after I've sorted dinner with a glass of wine in hand, hopefully with lots of creepy stories to read ( I have a few of my own too).

Secretsquirrel2 · 11/09/2026 18:21

Yes.

Shhhhitsmagic · 11/09/2026 18:22

Yes, 100% Had too many strange things happen to deny it. I sometimes hear things that others can't hear (and no I'm not crazy/need a carbon monoxide detector before anyone suggests it 😂)

My husband, total practical and nerdy Capricorn and not prone to flights of fancy, woke one night at a friend’s house for a sleepover (aged 14), and heard the sound of a top loading video player operating, like a video ejecting then being pushed in again.
He, wide awake at this point, in the half light, saw a small boy sitting by the television in the bedroom. With totally black eyes. There was no other child in the house, no siblings.
He has no other explanation than it was otherwordly, and it has stayed with him.

Clydebuilt · 11/09/2026 18:29

No.

ShakyBake · 11/09/2026 18:34

Not ghosts no but I had one of the worst experiences of my life with an actual leprechaun (back in '81 in my university dorm). I still can't go into details but a police report was filed and a crown court case was unfortunately dropped and I still have related counselling to this day.

Whyohwhy99 · 11/09/2026 19:30

Yes.

My son had some experiences. He used to talk about a man with chattering teeth and ds said he used to take smokey things from his pocket. He meant cigarettes.

There was a time he saw something on the stairs. It was like a dark black shape. But ds daud it was dangerous/evil. I was at the bottom of the stairs ds was at the top this dark shape was between us. Ds was crying his eyes out begging me not to go up the stairs. He got himself in a massive state.

Another time we were all in dd's room . We were all just chatting. Ds said he could he somone in the room. He started getting nervous and sweaty and panicky. . Then my son said something but it wasn't his voice. I didn't catch what was said and automatically said what? It was ds voice again he was really shaking and scared he went to get a drink from the kitchen and splash his face.. he started he really panicked started crying and shouting that this ghost had a knife. Another time he saw a pan im a dressing gown standing near our shed. Hes not seen anything for years now.

Olderbutt · 11/09/2026 22:40

Yes 100%.

Kickinthenostalgia · 11/09/2026 22:42

Yes… I think it’s hard for some people to believe when they haven’t experienced it.. I’ve seen several over the years. Including the one that used to stand over my son’s bed when he was about 3, not in a sinister way just as almost like comforting way. My brother wasn’t a believer, in fact he used to take the piss out of me and my mum often until one night he experienced something himself and now he’s stopped taking the piss. Often hear footsteps upstairs when I’m the only one in the house… ( before any smart ass mentions about someone living in the attic, we only have eaves storage and it’s impossible because it’s filled to the brim with Christmas decs so much so Santa is faceplanting the door) 😂 when we first moved here, we had all the deodorants and perfumes on the bedroom cabinet, every night for about 2 weeks they’d all fall over.. the same time every night, we never had the window open because we moved in January and had one of the worst snowstorms for that area. So was bloody freezing and we didn’t have proper heating up and running either. Never saw anything. Defo seen loads since.
my Nan died in the house in the middle of the night 8 years ago… every year on the anniversary I’ve not been able to sleep until after midnight when it happened, she died on the kitchen floor against the back door and I’ve seen a fading figure when I’ve gone into the kitchen by the back door every year since her death. I mean the image has never left my head when I found her and I’m guessing she’s keeping the memory alive 🤭🫠

Thepossibility · 11/09/2026 22:45

Yes. When I was 17 we lived in a house where we all saw ghosts.
When I was younger our cat went missing. I saw his ghost once and then another time my dad and I both saw him. Strange thing is I've had many pets over the years and he was the worst, he wasn't close to us at all. Yet he was the only one that hung around.

Sagarmatha · 11/09/2026 22:49

Yes. My parents house has ghosts. When they first moved there they woke up one morning and.both bedside lights were on the floor upright.

It was freaky.

Namechangerage · 11/09/2026 22:51

When I had my youngest I used to smell cigarette smoke. When he was young he used to talk about an old man with black curly hair specifically in his room. My grandad had black curly hair, and used to smoke 70 a day. No pictures up or anything so no way he’d seen a picture. I hope it was him anyway!

When my uncle died, not long after we were at my aunt’s house. In the night there was a massive bang. We came down and found a candle still burning that was just about to catch the wooden table alight. Another night I also saw a shadow walking past the living room when we were all in the lounge.

I used to be on the fence/didn’t want to believe but then had such a scary experience at a known haunted castle that it feels undeniable now

Did you want to share it or is it too scary? Can’t help wondering if it was at Chillingham.

dustabsorber · 11/09/2026 23:16

I am a ghost, and I am fed up with humans saying that they can see us. You can't, we are invisible to your naked eyes.

When I was a child, we used to live in a haunted house. Funnily enough my parents live in a house that is older than that one, but we've never had an experience in this house. Mind you, that makes me think that we were really experiencing things and not just being dramatic.

I also lived in a haunted student house. Scariest night I ever had, listening to something heavy being dragged down the hallway and bump against my door. A few minutes later one of my flat mates came out of his room and so I did too, thinking he had also heard it. Turned out he was just getting up for a wee and had heard nothing. Nothing was out of place, other flatmates in bed - and yet I literally saw my door vibrate when the heavy dragging thing hit against it.

Thebutterflyslovemybush · 11/09/2026 23:51

I had never had any experiences but ghosts have always been my irrational fear, I'd never stay anywhere I'd been told was haunted.

That was until my mate bought a really old house and it's definitely haunted. I've stayed overnight a few times now and never had a good experience. I get a reoccurring dream of someone shouting in my face telling me 'I don't belong here' and the last time I woke to the feeling of something lifting my legs up. I was terrified and don't think I'll be staying again

My mum died recently. I have become convinced she has been reincarnated as a crow that is following me around. She was very religious and wouldn't be happy with that idea. I just wish she was at peace. I don't find her presence comforting or supportive. I am the most logical non-woo person you could hope to meet, so I don't know where this has come from and worry I am losing my marbles.
