As per the title, does anyone believe in ghosts?
I have had a couple of things happen in my life that were very strange. Has anyone else?
And it makes a nice change from talking about Bonnie Blue. 😀

Other staff told me stories of their experiences (being pushed/scratched) in other parts of the castle, such as the cellar (not open to the public) but that room is where most people feel it, there was one girl who refused to go near the room as it creeped her out so much lol. They do do ghost hunts there and lean into it at Halloween time

You must be local to me. Do you know The Old Mill in Baginton?

A family member had an experience there and one of the staff then mentioned they have a ghost. I googled it and there is a few stories. I even found a woman who used to work there and another that owned the place once, they all had stories of things that they had experienced

If you are from Warwick, have you heard the story about Anne Diamond when she went to view a house for sale?

We have a ghost who it seems as moved with us (me )for over 30 years.

Been seen by dds late teen bf who cried all night and slept with the light on !
Seen by me a few times but inly from ghe back -a small blind boy about 3 . As small dc my dad's claimed someone played with their toys during the night.

Heard running around and laughing by ds 20 in our old house .so scared was he that he slept on the sofa for a week rather than go upstairs to bed (we were away ).
Lots more examples.

Am I reading this right? The ghost of a blind three year old boy has been moving with you from home to home for the past 30 years?

Does anyone here believe in ghosts?

I'm not sure if I'm more shocked at a leprechaun up in crown court or the fact that posters have never heard of them.

Yeah, I was thinking the same. It's a tough call.

hourglass2 · 12/09/2026 12:46

Can someone enlighten me about Leprechauns? I didn't think they were real, just folklore, however I do believe there are strange creatures in the UK and Ireland...

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · 12/09/2026 12:48

Yes, because it makes life more fun. Why kill all the magic just because I’m an adult? Also sometimes helpful in a relationship - “oh sorry honey the ghost used the last of the coffee I’ll grab some on the way home from work.”

I don't believe in ghosts, as in "dead humans hanging around", but I do think that we don't fully understand our world and that things existing in other dimensions that we can't fully perceive may sometimes have an effect on our world and cause things we can't fully explain

This. We have 5 senses with which to perceive our world, but there might possibly be other senses that we don't have.

I always use ants as an analogy. They go about their business, totally enclosed in their own world. They have no idea about humans, cities, planes, cars etc. They are simply not physically equipped to perceive these things.

Similarly, I believe there are things in our world that we are not physically equipped to be able to perceive.

Pumpkinsaregrowingnicely · 12/09/2026 12:59

Oops meant blonde..but yes he has been in my life since I was in my 20's...now 55.
Other incidents include hair pulling. And an earring.

Yes, they are just folklore -- they're just the Irish equivalent of fairly lowgrade supernatural beings from other mythologies, like sprites, brownies, goblins, gnomes etc in that they're traditionally small in size, and mostly play small tricks on humans (or sometimes help them).

Irish fairies on the other hand are powerful, amoral, acquisitive and have a bad habit of stealing human children and nursing mothers and replacing them with changelings, or cursing those who interfere with their mounds or trees.

Traditionally you appease them with food or drink, put protection on the doors and windows of your house at times of year when they're particularly powerful, and to this day, builders are reluctant to interfere with 'fairy forts' (really the remains of early medieval farmsteads) so they act as a sort of defacto preserver of archaeology.

I was home alone once and someone came and blew really hard in my ear, never got to the bottom of that one.

whippersnapper55 · 11/09/2026 22:33

What is a leprechaun?

A minature (12" tall about) human being usually seen in Ireland. Often called "little people" and they have magic powers (apparently)

UnderThePressure · 12/09/2026 13:14

I used to see a figure at the bottom of the stairs in my childhood home. My window would open in the night despite being locked and I would hear breathing at my bedroom door but no-one would be there I opened it.
I always slept under the blankets.
My mum lives there alone now and despite being a complete sceptic, she has trouble trying to explain some of what goes on.
In my current home I've seen a few figures, even my own daughter who is alive and well, but she wasn't in the house at the time.
It doesn't scare me anymore and it really interests me.
I go to spiritual meetings and paranormal investigations and use these to further my experiences.
Prisons are my favourite places followed by pubs.

wendywoody · 12/09/2026 13:32

Years ago my exH bought a car (an old banger basically, just to get him to and from work). He decided to take it for a run one Sunday am before the insurance came into force. I told him not to do it but he insisted and said he would take it for a run around the dock estate which would be empty.
Later he came back white and shaking.
He told me that he was driving along an empty road on the docks when a voice from the back seat of the car shouted "Noooo! Stop!". He promptly did an emergency stop and looked around but there was no-one in the car or anywhere near the car.
He took the car to a garage to put it up for sale on the Monday.
My exH was an atheist who didn't believe in anything.

No. When you’re gone you’re gone. Although I guess elements of you can live on through your children eg personality traits etc.

I am a ghost, and I am fed up with humans saying that they can see us. You can't, we are invisible to your naked eyes.

👻

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 12/09/2026 13:37

@GameOfJones funny you should mention a 1960s hippy - that’s the ghost my dad saw. He drove straight through him with a bus!

Kickinthenostalgia · 11/09/2026 22:42

Yes… I think it’s hard for some people to believe when they haven’t experienced it.. I’ve seen several over the years. Including the one that used to stand over my son’s bed when he was about 3, not in a sinister way just as almost like comforting way. My brother wasn’t a believer, in fact he used to take the piss out of me and my mum often until one night he experienced something himself and now he’s stopped taking the piss. Often hear footsteps upstairs when I’m the only one in the house… ( before any smart ass mentions about someone living in the attic, we only have eaves storage and it’s impossible because it’s filled to the brim with Christmas decs so much so Santa is faceplanting the door) 😂 when we first moved here, we had all the deodorants and perfumes on the bedroom cabinet, every night for about 2 weeks they’d all fall over.. the same time every night, we never had the window open because we moved in January and had one of the worst snowstorms for that area. So was bloody freezing and we didn’t have proper heating up and running either. Never saw anything. Defo seen loads since.
my Nan died in the house in the middle of the night 8 years ago… every year on the anniversary I’ve not been able to sleep until after midnight when it happened, she died on the kitchen floor against the back door and I’ve seen a fading figure when I’ve gone into the kitchen by the back door every year since her death. I mean the image has never left my head when I found her and I’m guessing she’s keeping the memory alive 🤭🫠

Edited

I haven’t experienced being high in drugs, but I still believe it happens. That’s because there is actual evidence that it can happen.

With all the advances in technology, science etc don’t you find it strange that there isn’t a single shred of scientific evidence that ghosts exist? Nothing documented other than fanciful stories, all based around the same themes, which are based entirely on literature from the past. It’s the same with alien sightings. How coincidental that they all look like the ones drawn for movies half a century ago?

Think about it logically. If ghosts were real and you could see them, what’s the chances you’ve only seen a handful and many people have never seen even one? There have been 117 billion people who have lived on earth. Even if only half a percent of people become ghosts, that’s 585 million ghosts hanging around over time. Why do most of them come from a very specific time period? Has anyone ever seen a ghost of a Neanderthal? The beaches of Normandy should be swarming with ghosts, Ground Zero would be very crowded indeed, are there 1,000 ghosts bobbing about in the North Atlantic near Newfoundland?

People like to counter this with “oh but there are so many things that are unexplained” yes, then science investigates them and they become explained. We have the technology that allows us to actually see the moment the earth was created, and yet they haven’t ever been able to even suggest it might be a little bit possible that ghosts could exist.

If people feel comforted that old aunt Aggie is roaming the halls of her bungalow, fabulous, I’m happy for them. But to decide that people who choose not to believe in fairy tales, just don’t have the capacity to believe is very wide of the mark.

BermudaRhombus · 12/09/2026 13:45

I’ve had a few “supernatural” experiences, but I believe there is a rational explanation for all things. I don’t believe in “ghosts”’or the like.

Pinkbananaa · 12/09/2026 13:46

A lady committed suicide in our old house and i saw her at the end of the bed she died in that very bedroom. Toys would randomly go off which were switched off and lights flicker. The night after my auntie died she came to see me to tell me she was ok. Ive seen orbs and lights flicking and felt her presence. My dad passed away and ive never seen him and hes never visited me. I believe ghosts are real and on a different plane adjacent to ours,I just i think so people are more sensitive to others.

Of course not. Don't be silly.

Don't be rude, it's been a nice thread so far. Feel free to not read it.

Is there a difference between a dimension and a universe, as in multiverse? I am probably talking out my arse but I have seen multiverses mentioned on nonfiction tv programmes, and of course science fiction. Perhaps the PP's confusion lies there?

geumsun · 12/09/2026 14:36

violetcuriosity · 12/09/2026 11:06

I know this exact feeling you’re talking about. After DD2 I used to feel someone standing behind me when I’d be doing her nappy all the time.

It's extremely unsettling. A sudden feeling of terror. You want to turn around, but you know you shouldn't.

The thing that bothers me most is that it hasn't happened again after leaving that house. I still work standing with my back to the door. So in theory my mind could continue to magic up someone sneaking in and standing right behind me, the surroundings and opportunity are all similar, but it hasn't happened.

TheWytch · 12/09/2026 14:36

Yes - experienced too many things not to.

Me too! I am so intrigued by what happened with this one, though.
