Has anyone else seen the news about what’s happening in Portsmouth this evening
A boat has arrived in Hampshire and the protesters from Dover are currently in the sea blocking passage with hundreds more on the quay blocking coaches waiting.

Yes, Ive just seen this. I have family in Portsmouth.

ThisMauveExpert · 06/09/2026 23:20

Yes, I'm currently watching two seperate live streams.

Looks like at least a thousand people have turned up from the surrounding area and beyond. Very angry.

The boats that were arriving most recently this evening had coaches waiting for them.

smallglassbottle · 06/09/2026 23:21

There's a livestream.

Shmoigel · 06/09/2026 23:28

It looks very heated

This is the first time they have arrived in Hampshire

Oh I have the one stream with the guys sort of standing between the boat and the police and coaches, attempting to stop them from entering the UK.

And another separate stream that I believe is from a very nearby location where people have already alighted from boats earlier today and are currently waiting on coaches to be transported elsewhere. Hence the thiysand or more people turning up to protest.

And I do agree it looks very heated

Yet the authorities were all ready and waiting with coaches and tents. Really makes you think, doesn’t it?

Friendlygingercat · 06/09/2026 23:36

These people are not wanted here.

Mooselander · 06/09/2026 23:41

Excellent. People are finally making it clear that we will not put up with this any longer.

PinguMoll · 06/09/2026 23:41

And so it begins.

Scary but necessary.

I hope those men stay safe.

It's all orchestrated. The real question is why?

The men are very brave. I hope they all stay safe.

Lots of love on Twitter for a grandma who has canoed out to the demonstrators with battery chargers and other supplies.

mynipsWILLpointnorth · 06/09/2026 23:46

Are the boats carrying refugees, people escaping violence, war and poverty?

Because small boat arrivals are down this year.

This doesn't suit those groups who need "stop the boats" as a recruitment tool, so they're upping the drama while they can.

We’re not allowed to talk about it on here, are we?

They're being brought in. This isn't some sort of rescue. It's so obvious.

😂 The boats arriving and the government having everything ready for the “asylum seekers” is orchestrated, not the demonstrations 😂

It’s undeniable at this point.

No, theyre coming from France.

The small boats that have gone from 50 people to 180 people per boat.

Yeah. Less boat, just more people.

In France????

PamelaShipman80 · 06/09/2026 23:52

Being brought in why? I’m glad to hear people are there at least trying to do something!

PerkingFaintly · 06/09/2026 23:52

Is this the boat the French were shadowing for 10 hours earlier today? But deemed it too dangerous to attempt to stop while on water.

So they've been dealt with on the British side instead?

We're not allowed to talk about why. You'll have to use your imagination or head over to X.

By whom? To what end?

It’s far more likely the authorities were made aware a boat was en route, given it’s a busy shipping lane, and have had time to make provision to safely accommodate people rather than have them disperse completely, especially if they have been made aware of the likelihood of some kind of protest. It’s to nobody’s benefit to have people stood out in water in the dark, whether they came on the boat or are trying to stop the boat.
