Which tv theme tunes from your childhood/teens gives you the biggest waves of nostalgia?

I was a complete googleboxer as a child and teen back in the 80’s/90’s, I may be a bit biased as I grew up in those decades but imo the best tv shows came from that era.

I often find myself listening to my favourites on YouTube and they give such bittersweet memories. Memories of my happy childhood and watching tv in our living room because we only had one tv growing up. I also have such fond memories of watching a lot of these shows with my parents who are sadly now elderly and mum has advanced dementia so they often feel even more poignant these days.

Anyhow, this is my list:-

Shows my parents would watch and I’d hear from my bedroom at night wishing I could watch them too (we were allowed during holidays and weekends),

Hill Street Blues
M.A.S.H
Taxi
Dallas (we were allowed to watch this every week when it was on)
Bergerac (mum fancied John Nettles!)
Auf Weidersehen pet (dad’s favourite because he was in the building trade)
The Golden Girls (my mum’s, sisters and my favourite show, I still watch this on Disney)

Murder She Wrote
Kate and Allie
The Wonder Years
Moonlighting (I feel deep nostalgia for this theme tune because it was the first ‘grown up’ show I was allowed to watch when I was 14 years old, on my little black and white portable tv in my bedroom)

There are dozens more but these are the ones that really pull on my heartstrings.

I got mine from a company called Truffle Shuffle. I get so many remarks on it with people usually singing ‘We’re off to Button Moon……..’.

Yes, it probably was. Its funny because I wouldn't blink at seeing Jack Whitehall advertising a resort in The Maldives on Instagram now but looking back at Ross Kemp doing it on primetime BBC feels weird now somehow!

Does anyone remember this theme tune, I found it very unnerving and still do.

There was also another them tune to a show I'm sure they used to show at school in the 80's. I can distinctly recall the tune but can not recall the name, the opening started of as a kind of Pandora's box turning on a pedestal thingy and then this guy (actor) with white hair started narrating but for the life of me I can not remember the name.

Out of Town gives me a massive nostalgia hit, watching it with my Dad while Mum bustled about cooking dinner, a slow-paced gentle show, feeling so cosy, safe in our simple family routine with not a worry in my head. Same with family watching Dad's Army, Happy Days, Antiques Roadshow, Upstairs Downstairs, Flambards, The Onedin Line, Dr Who (but scary whirly titles).

Kids shows- Rhubarb and Custard with a great theme tune, and doing homework while eating toast and watching Grange Hill.

Picture box..the narrator died recently.
