Anyone else noticed the evenings getting darker a bit earlier?

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the nights are coming in earlier.

Yes, it’s been getting darker earlier since the summer solstice in June, that’s how it works! But I have noticed it more this week.

It's miserable. We've had quite a bit of rain too. I find it quite depressing. Mind you we haven't really had the extreme heat that there was in the south.

I always feel that this is the start of the grey miserable weather.

The mornings are also noticeably darker. I’m up at 5 and the difference from just the end of last week seems quite marked all of a sudden

One of the liveries was saying tonight how it's started getting dark at 5am and this will be the last week she'll be able to ride her horse before work down the lane. I noticed it was much darker tonight, it was the first evening I've noticed it. I love the Summer, feel so miserable when it starts getting dark.

I suffer from SAD. I'm going to start using my SAD lamp soon to give me bright morning light again. The experts suggest you start using it this time of yesr.

Why do we need Autumn?

My DH can tell you the sunrise and sunsets with pretty good accuracy, with added "last week it was x, next week it'll be y", so the changing seasons never catches us out, but oh my am I greatful. The evening sun pours into our bedroom, and I'm longing for a cooler after dinner walk that doesn't leave me feeling coated in dog breath-like humidity.

That's so funny as I just came in from the washing line and my neighbour shouted over about how dark it was

Same as other people want summer.
Autumn is the start of the best weather to come.

Why do we need a harsh winter?

I really can't afford to put the heating on much so it hopefully won't be too cold.

I'm so looking forward to dark mornings. I love logging in to work early when it's still dark and quiet and feeling like I'm the only person in the world.
