Sky remote has disappeared in the living room and we cannot find it

DS got up first this morning and went downstairs and turned the tv on and was watching tv when I got up. He used the sky remote. Got him and other DS dressed and out for the day at holiday clubs. I worked from home and didn’t turn the tv on, it must’ve just turned itself off at some point. When DC got home could not find it anywhere. DS adamant he can’t remember what he did with it.

I’ve turned the downstairs upstairs down, moved the sofa, checked toy boxes, everywhere I can think of and we don’t have a massive living room. It won’t have gone upstairs as neither DS went upstairs this morning and I didn’t touch it. We don’t have one of those fancy buttons that you press and it beeps so I cannot understand where on earth it has gone. Any ideas??

Down behind the sofa cushions.

taken into the loo

taken into the kitchen

ScottBakula · 17/08/2026 23:00

If you have looked in all the normal hiding places like between sofa cushions, under the sofa, in pockets it's time to start looking in the odd places ,
In the fridge
In bed
In the bathroom
In the dishwasher
Kitchen cupboards
Car
Dressing gown pocket

Shefliesonherownwings · 17/08/2026 23:01

I’ve pulled the sofa apart, checked the kitchen, including in the fridge. Even looked in the bin. Not taken upstairs. I’m baffled

Jacket pocket

Shefliesonherownwings · 17/08/2026 23:02

No jackets, too hot to wear them!

Accidentally dropped in a bag which then got taken out of the room

Knocked off sofa arm into a bin

On one of the sky boxes (possibly skyQ) if you press the button on the middle front of the box it makes the remote play a sound so you can find it

Shefliesonherownwings · 17/08/2026 23:04

No bags taken out today, packed them in the car last night. No bins in the living room.

Annoyingly we don’t have that button on the sky box, think we have a sky mini?

Just saw someone else posted this

I found our missing sky remote folded into a blanket about a month after losing it! Any clothes/bedding it could have got caught up in?

holachicatita · 17/08/2026 23:12

I found the remote down the pocket of the oven gloves where your hand goes. Hanging from the oven. My toddler had just popped it in there.. didn't find it for about four days as we don't use the oven much these days!

hahabahbag · 17/08/2026 23:12

Ours is usually on the bed (obviously went to use the bathroom and put it there with no recollection) on the kitchen table, by the kettle, on the little table by the front door or even in the en suite (definitely was him not me) spent hours looking for it, didn’t know it made a sound! Stranger places I’ve found missing things including the fridge, the car, in my bag, upstairs in dsds room (who’s left home so must have been one of us!) … honestly could be anywhere, good luck

Nomorepants · 17/08/2026 23:13

Found ours tonight after 1 month MIA. Was in the ottoman storage built into the sofa. Must have fallen in though was sure had checked.

SmallShephard · 17/08/2026 23:13

I have taken mine to work twice, and more than one had hit scooped up into the washing machine…
Do you have a Ddog? My oldie used to pinch the remote and hide it in her crate!
Hooe you find it, it’s so annoying when it’s lost!

Defender90 · 17/08/2026 23:14

I took mine to work once, never assume anything is off the cards.

Crispynoodle · 17/08/2026 23:14

Have you had a word with St. Anthony?

Shefliesonherownwings · 17/08/2026 23:17

I think I need to search the upstairs more thoroughly although I don’t know how it would have got up there unless DH or I absent mindedly put it somewhere. I just don’t remember touching it this morning and DH left early for work.

we do have a kitten but she’s tiny and I can’t imagine she’d have been able to carry it anywhere. I’ve checked under everything in the living room in case she pushed it somewhere but no luck. We don’t have the fancy beeping button thing on our box

On a shelf in fridge where DS put it while glugging milk from bottle.

caringcarer · 17/08/2026 23:21

People put things in odd places absentmindedly. My Mum put her wallet in the bottom of fridge whilst putting away some tomatoes. She must have had it in her hand and was worried sick where it could be. My sister had to drive her back to shops they'd visited that morning. My Dad once put an adaptor plug socket in the chest freezer. He'd been shaving using adaptor plug socket and Mum asked him to put something in the freezer. He did but put adaptor plug in also. Then he spent about a week looking for it.

CelticSilver · 17/08/2026 23:23

You say you 'got him dressed'. Was that downstairs? Did you scoop up his nightwear and take it upstairs/put it in the wash basket?

canklesmctacotits · 17/08/2026 23:30

How tall is your DS? If 3-4’ tall, you need to look at things that he can reach: chairs tucked under tables, blanket bucket, under the coffee table, wherever shoes are kept. You also need to think like a boy his age: put next to sink in loo, stuffed into a shoe he’s not wearing, in toy box etc

avignon1234 · 17/08/2026 23:34

Fully under sofa, it gets knocked off, and falls funny (or someone un-knowingly budges it). I am not sure if it is expensive / difficult to replace but I lost one (not sky) recently and bought a replacement from Amazon, came next day. I was thinking that the first one was bound to turn up irritatingly, but it didn't, and still hasn't, if it does, I at least have a spare, which is no bad thing.
