Sky remote has disappeared in the living room and we cannot find it

DS got up first this morning and went downstairs and turned the tv on and was watching tv when I got up. He used the sky remote. Got him and other DS dressed and out for the day at holiday clubs. I worked from home and didn’t turn the tv on, it must’ve just turned itself off at some point. When DC got home could not find it anywhere. DS adamant he can’t remember what he did with it.

I’ve turned the downstairs upstairs down, moved the sofa, checked toy boxes, everywhere I can think of and we don’t have a massive living room. It won’t have gone upstairs as neither DS went upstairs this morning and I didn’t touch it. We don’t have one of those fancy buttons that you press and it beeps so I cannot understand where on earth it has gone. Any ideas??

And cancel the cheque!

Under the sofa hiding behind one of the sofa legs so not always visible if you crouch down and look under?

It's always down the back of the sofa ime. They seem to be able to slip right down the back or side, where it's hard to push your hand down.
Failing that, your son has wandered to another with it in his hand and absentmindedly put it down, so ask him to retrace his steps on that morning.

I lost my remote for 2 weeks. Ordered a new one. I pulled my living room apart. Searched the settee multiple times. It was well and truly wedged down one of the settee arms!!

I don't know what age your kids are but mine are quite prone to putting things inside toys like bin lorries, ambulances and car garages. It's become such a frequent occurrence that's now where I check first.

Yes same! We now have 2 remotes. Mines was in the sofa.

Have you unzipped the base of your sofa underneath in case it’s gone right inside?

Did you go to holiday club in the car? If so, try looking in there where ds was sitting. What about in a bag you or they took with them?

You could also look in the kitchen - it could be in a cupboard or the fridge.
Washing basket? Washing machine?
We once found ours in the garage - the freezer is in there so someone must have taken it with them when they went to fetch something.

I think it’s under the sofa, but your view is blocked by the sofa leg.

One of our remotes disappeared a couple of weeks ago. My DD was watching TV then when she went to turn it off it was gone. We have searched everywhere.

Same thing happened with a car key a few months back. I came in, put it down on the side (or thought I did) and in the morning it was gone. I searched the whole house for two hours. It still hasn't turned up.

I blame the house fairies. Or a random black hole that appears in our hous every now and then 😺

Only way to find it is to buy a new one.

Tbf - its hidden by the sofa too ( yes I agree I should possibly have dusted a bit more - I do dust and clean the bits you see far more frequently 😏)

When ours went missing it was in my son's school blazer, he forgot he put it in there, he even helped hunt for it

Found mine in the garden, the dog had taken it out there. Had already bought a new universal remote.

Mine was in a toy box once. Also I lost my phone once and I put it in the snack box!

You can get all sorts of remotes from Amazon. There is a number on it. Google the model no of the set and look on there. Always handy to have a spare. No set ups on our Sony when we did this. Just put in batteries.

I was going to suggest the fridge, my carer once found his glasses in the fridge.

OK where was DS sitting? look under the sofa, the actual one not the cushions.

Another one for the fridge. I once put my handbag.in the fridge - frazzled after a hard day and putting the shopping away. It will turn up in some random place.

You can’t have a sky mini box without having a main Sky box? The mini has no satellite cable input and relies on the main Sky box for its input!

You can put a virtual remote on the Sky Go app to use while you try to find yours

Someone could have wandered off with the remote in their hand so it could be anywhere anyone has gone recently. I would try places like the fridge
