What are the weirdest things you've seen when viewing a property?

I used to carry out EPCs, and the company I worked for had the contract for the Local Authority’s social housing.

One that stands out was a woman who kept her
dirty socks in a bucket in front of the gas heater (to make them easier to smell), and a dirty towel on the back of the bathroom door next to my face at that moment, which she said she hoped didn’t smell as she used it to clean “her privates”.

The highlight was when she asked if I’d like to meet her rabbits, and they turned out to have all been taxidermied and were displayed around the lounge 😬

Someone asleep in the front room abd a meat cleaver in the kitchen.

I was with a friend and optimistically said 'oh the kitchen is quite big'. 'We are leaving now' she said 😂

I was selling my house, had given my E.A. the keys to arrange the photos, & accompany viewings when it was on the market.
The next day, I was running late for work. Toddler had put a whole toilet roll down the loo so there were turds floating in it, kitchen & dining room had a good scattering of breakfast remains, unmade beds - you get the picture.

The E.A. 'phoned me at work later that day to say the people he had shown round @ 10.00 a.m. were not interested !

In the 90s my parents were divorcing. DM had a house viewing which she didn't tell me about. I worked evenings waitressing so was lying in bed around 10-11am under the covers, then my door opened with DM going 'and here is another bedroom'. WTAF DM, why would you not forewarn me?! 😂. I just had to lie there because what do you do?! 🤣

A huge solid fungus growing out between the wall and the shower tray. You sometimes see ones like this growing out of decaying tree stumps...it is often damp in Derbyshire.

A bicycle in the kitchen being used as a makeshift clothes horse with underwear drying on it

Nothing excessively bizarre as the above, but the owner showed us round the standard London Victorian semi that he'd "lovingly restored".
Every wall surface was covered with either painted woodchip wallpaper, faux wood panelling or cork tiles. He "wanted to highlight the original plasterwork" so all the details in the coving and ceiling roses were picked out in chocolate brown paint.
He was most apologetic that he would be taking the massive chandelier made from a wooden wagon wheel.
We bought another house that was even worse...

I wonder if he was the same guy we bought our terrace house from. Every surface covered in either woodchip or really cheap and tacky wood panelling. But hed nailed it directly on the walls. He'd even panelled the bath in it. There was also a full sized printing press in the spare room. Fuck knows how he got it in and out.
We had the obligatory teen in bed too. We could hear his mother giving him what for as we left.
The very first house we looked at as dewy eyed 20 year olds, was quite normal, except the bathroom, which was huge, had a bath in he middle of the floor with a raised kind of plinth all the way round, it had steps going up to the top and it was about 2 foot wide. It and the whole bathroom, was carpeted in 70s shag pile in a dark gold. It went half way up the wall too, in case there wasnt enough bacteria being soaked up.
