Mine is in Titanic (1997). The immediate aftermath of the ship hitting the iceberg and the reaction to it. I have seen the
film more times than I can count but bit still takes my breath away.

When Andie walks into the school before meeting ducky to go to the prom in Pretty in Pink. I love the music

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 18/08/2026 18:14

The 'translation' scene in Hot Fuzz.

If ever I'm feeling down and depressed I watch this. "It's not the dog we need!" That and the only one swan section.

But I need cheering up more than I need an excuse to cry, so I do tend to watch funny stuff most of all!

The final scene of The Way we Were .
The Two Towers , Aragorn opens the doors .
the final scene of The English Patient.

The final scenes in Heat where Robert De Niro and Al Pacino clock each other outside of the evacuating hotel. Then they end up on the air field and Al Pacino uses the run way lights and shadows to shoot Robert De Niro. Its a bittersweet scene because you want them both to “win”- Robert to get away for a new life with Eady, and Al’s loss of marriage and relentless quest to get his man to pay off. And the final music is just amazing.

I also love the scene in Heat where the bank robbery is taking place and there is no music, just silence and then shooting and then silence. It’s so powerful not having music to create suspense.

Salam Hayek dance scene dusk til dawn

My all time favourite scene is in Cannonball Run 2 where the police pull over the car being driven by the orangutan and think it’s a candid camera show 😂😂

I also like Come What May in Moulin Rouge and the forest patronus scene in Prisoner of Azkaban - the sound does something to me!

HearMeSnore · 18/08/2026 22:08

The Princess Bride, when Inigo finally confronts Count Rugen and repeats his mantra over and over until Rugen offers him anything he wants. “I want my father back you son of a b——“

In Bruges - “I went to the park so she won’t have to clean it up.” Ray expressed so much in that one tragically concise line.

The Martian - when Watney gets his first message from Earth and breaks down with relief.

I love the final scene in Billy Elliott but feel irrationally annoyed that the actor playing the adult Billy stretches his neck like a million times during it. For some reason it really irritates me. I have to ignore that and focus on the other characters / actors who are wonderful.

He is doing that to emulate what a boxer does before he enters the boxing ring. That is what his father expected him to do as a hobby.

Fabulous ending. It sends shivers down my spine.

The final scene of Pride when the miners turn up to support the Pride March.

"Where are my Lesbians? Where are my lesbians"

Pride should get an award for most quotable film.

"We want to see everything, even the rubber scene"

scalt · 19/08/2026 06:20

Although I think the Harry Potter films in general are not great, I love the moment in Order of the Phoenix when Harry feels really isolated, and he happens to meet the barefooted Luna who explains to him about Thestrals. That scene is not in the book, but I really like it.

scalt · 19/08/2026 06:25

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children has some beautiful scenes, such as Emma and Jake diving to the abandoned ship under the sea: very reminiscent of the Titanic.

In the six triple eight where the women are walking through the station and a male soldier asks if they are the 6888. When they say yes, the stand and salute them. The music gets me. It then leads to the closing where they show pictures and stories of the real six triple eight workers. It’s an amazing film that I didn’t know about until I saw clips on TikTok. Same with hidden figures mentioned above where I agree with the bathroom scene.

The Sliding doors scene first one where she misses the train, then later when she does it in reverse and when the movie ends and Tenderness on the block plays.

the priest scene in Lady Jane where he recites something I think from the bible to try and change her mind. It’s sad though.

On the waterfront, Brando I coulda been a contender speech to his brother. Classic and Oscar winning.

As pp said end scenes of Gladiator

Apparently Proximo (Oliver Reed) was going to do that but he died so it was Juba which was perfection. As he walks towards his wife and son through the field.

Fafafabienne · 19/08/2026 07:59

Another one for me is in Marvellous (another film I’ve watched a few times). The scene where Lou Macari the then manager of Stoke City FC offers Neil Baldwin (Nello) played brilliantly by Toby Jones a job of kit man. At one point in the film Macari describes this as the best signing he ever made.

The film however has loads of memorable scenes too varied to try to describe and each one special in its own way. it’s an absolutely wonderful film and based on a true person and story.

Bella and Jacob kiss in Eclipse. Don't come at me, I know it's ridiculous 😂

WigglywagglyWanda · 19/08/2026 08:38

Cabaret- the young man starts singing "tomorrow belongs to me' and the crowd joins in. When it finishes the camera pans to the Nazi symbol on his jacket

When George Baileys brother comes home at the end of Its a Wonderful Life

The yacht scene in Some Like it Hot where Marilyn Monroe tries to seduce Tony Curtis

End of the original Wicker Man

I agree, that's a cracker of an ending. Chills.

The closing scenes of The Inn of the Sixth Happiness, when Ingrid Bergman and her 50 orphaned Chinese children march into Xi'an singing This Old Man.

I've cried every single time I've watched that scene, ever since I was six years old in 1969.

I know someone who was in that scene!!

They were children from the local school in Wales where it was filmed, and Rhys (now well into his 70's!) was one of them with his school mates!
