Mine is in Titanic (1997). The immediate aftermath of the ship hitting the iceberg and the reaction to it. I have seen the
film more times than I can count but bit still takes my breath away.

Green Card. Gerard Depardieu saying to Andie Macdowell "I went, and I bought some beautiful tomatoes for you".
It's random but lovely mostly probs due to the building affection and his French accent ☺️

Good Will Hunting - the best scene for me is Robin Williams pinning Matt Damon to the wall for disrespecting his wife. Fantastic acting.

Most outstanding scene in GWH was in the bar when the snotty rich kid tried to outwit Matt Damon, the school janitor!

Monr0e · 17/08/2026 07:43

So many already mentioned.

I've read that Rutger Hauer rewrote that scene himself the night before shooting it in Blade Runner.

A couple more I've remembered. Edward Norton in primal fear, the end scene with Richard Gere.

And the Outsiders, "Stay Gold, Ponyboy" I sobbed for hours the first time I saw this movie.

Bims2019 · 17/08/2026 08:10

The battle of wits scene in The Princess Bride. And of course, "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

SandwichMakerHater · 17/08/2026 08:11

@Monr0e have you read The Outsiders? It's one of my all time favourite books and that's the part where I cry too!

For me, three scenes in Gattaca. When Vincent's brother asks him how he can keep swimming and he says he never saves anything for the swim back. The scene with Jude Law and the incinerator. Then right at the end when the doctor gives advice about how he should pee.

Leon, when she is at his door with the pot plant, willing him to let her in.

Titanic, when she is blowing the whistle, I am a mess after that.

Castaway, when he has to choose between Wilson and the raft. Again, total blub fest.

The helicopter scene in Angles and Demons.

Excellent choice 😁

The third Lord of the Rings film where they light the beacons. The footage of the beacons lighting up over the mountains, with Howard Shore's score, still gives me goosebumps.

Apollo 13 - when they make radio contact with Houston after 4+ minutes of silence during re-entry to the earth's atmosphere
All the more moving because it's a true story 😍

NeustrianPeasant · 17/08/2026 08:40

The dinner party scene at the end of Carry On Up the Khyber.

CountryGirlInTheCity · 17/08/2026 08:40

A Room With A View - where George Emerson strides through the Italian cornfield to kiss Lucy.

Swooon!

savemydrawers · 17/08/2026 08:50

The scene at the end in Billy Elliot where he leaps onto to the stage and his father is in the audience to see him. Omg !

savemydrawers · 17/08/2026 08:55

The scene in the Bridges of Madison County where she is sitting in the truck with her husband and Clint Eastwood is in the truck in front leaving town. Her fingers are itching to open the car door but she doesn't ...it's gutting.

6ate9 · 17/08/2026 09:07

A Perfect World - When the little boy pulled Butch (Kevin Costner) up and hugged him.
(I haven’t seen this film in years, it’s very underrated.)

Just me that is shallow enough to love the cheesy scene where Keanu Reeves’ arms wrap around Sandra Bullock as they leave the bus on the board in Speed?! 🤣🤣

Shivers- it’s soooooo romantic- could watch that all day!!!

Also my best friend’s wedding where he says if you love someone you should shout it, really let them know before the moment goes, but then the boat comes out into the sunshine and the moment ends and she’s crying without him knowing

Morepositivemum · 17/08/2026 09:19

Ps had add the scene in Game night where she doesn’t know the gun is real and is acting out the scene in pulp fiction around the bad guys and they’re all terrified, I laughed so hard I couldn’t breathe!!

The Railway Children- “Daddy. my daddy!”

Same here. I first saw it when I was about 8. My dad worked overseas and the impact was huge 😭

ConstantlyFuriosa · 17/08/2026 10:00

“Daddy, my daddy” makes me cringe. Agree with many others on here, though.

The Erin Brockovich scene where she quotes the plaintiffs telephone numbers and medical situations to the snotty solicitor!

One of my favourite films!
Currently available on Channel 4 so I am rewatching.

We've gone on holiday by mistake. Withnail and I.

We could all do with some rain.

The most quotable movie of all time.

I don't advise a haircut, man. All hairdressers are in the employment of the government. Hair are your aerials. They pick up signals from the cosmos and transmit them directly into the brain. This is the reason bald-headed men are uptight.

This film is so iconic!!

“We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here and we want them now!"

Camberwell Carrot scene, or Uncle Monty in full blue eyeshadowed seduction

Bruce Robinson is a genius

ConstantlyFuriosa · 17/08/2026 12:40

“Monty, you terrible cunt!”

Best line of all time.

That or: “vim under the sink and both bars on.”
