Mine is in Titanic (1997). The immediate aftermath of the ship hitting the iceberg and the reaction to it. I have seen the
film more times than I can count but bit still takes my breath away.

When Barbara Windsor’s bra flies off in Carry On Camping

i’m kidding.

Probably Butch and Sundance on the cliff edge: “I can’t swim!” “Why you crazy? The fall’ll probably kill ya”.

Sean Penn’s confession from the electric chair in Dead Man Walking stayed with me a long time. Absolutely brilliant.

The scene behind the waterfall in Last of the Mohicans where Daniel Day Lewis does the ‘Stay alive, no matter what occurs. I will find you,’ speech and jumps into the waterfall.

I like the scene where Alice choses death on the mountain cliff. Jodhi May is beautiful in it!

For sheer tension I'd have the say the opening scene of Inglorious Basterds has got to be counted. Christopher Waltz was absolutely chilling.

The one most likely to make me tear up is at the end of Interstellar. "...because my dad promised me." >sob<

And for absolute brains-out spectacle, it's got to be Mad Max Fury Road where the War Boys roll out and we get the guitar flame-thrower moment.

Mariel walking down the aisle to I Do, I Do, I Do by Abba in Muriel's Wedding.

Mygreyhair · 16/08/2026 18:32

The scene in Truly, Madly, Deeply where EVERYTHING happens!

6ate9 · 16/08/2026 18:47

The Hours - Julianne Moore scene, “I’m going to make a cake. That’s what I’m going to do.”

Rett Butler in Gone With the Wind, "Frankly My Dear, I don't give a damn". That because my dear Mum loved that film.

Digerydont · 16/08/2026 18:58

Or maybe, the End Scene of Loan Ranger with Tonto on the train. When I finally expire, I would quite like to go out to the Lone Ranger theme.

Anothernameretired · 16/08/2026 18:59

My Best Friend's Wedding. Rupert Everett singing Dionne Warwick in the restaurant.

I also like the final scene of Working Girl when Melanie Griffiths phones her friend from her corner office.

UnPetitDunPetit · 16/08/2026 19:05

The final scene in Bridget Jones' Diary when he wraps his coat around her 🥰

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 16/08/2026 19:06

Muriel's Wedding, where she's trying on the wedding dress having left the hospital when Rhonda has just been diagnosed.

Conan the Barbarian* when dead Valeria comes to save him- "Do you want to live forever?"

(*The original, not the remake bollocks.)

6ate9 · 16/08/2026 19:08

Chariots of Fire- the final scene. The whole film and soundtrack is brilliant!

afaloren · 16/08/2026 19:10

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. Samwise. I can’t carry it for you, but I can carry you. I wail every time.

ProfessorofDarkArts · 16/08/2026 19:12

The end of Officer and a Gentleman when he rides to the factory on his motorbike and the music builds as he walks through and sweeps her off her feet and her mum, friend and colleagues are all happy and cheering.

Also when Red spots Andy walking along the beach towards him at the end of Shawshank Redemption.

The shopping scenes in Pretty Woman..

Yes I love that too. I also like the Private Benjamin scene when she tells her parents who have come to rescue her from the army that she has decided to stay after all.

Came here to say exactly that re: Red and Andy!

SaraHoliday · 16/08/2026 19:20

The final scene in 'CastAway' where Tom Hanks is at the crossroads and deciding which route to take.

Been there before and I'm back there now... 🧭

NoraLuka · 16/08/2026 19:25

The truck explosion in Thelma and Louise. I first saw it as a teenager and it made such a refreshing change from how female characters were often portrayed in films at that time!

CafedelaButte · 16/08/2026 19:26

Gladiator - where Maximus reveals himself to Commodus

WonderingWanda · 16/08/2026 19:28

Gladiator, the 'My name Maximus' scene, so tense and Joaquin Phoenix plays his part so well!

Allseeingallknowing · 16/08/2026 19:32

The Others- the servants approaching out of the mist. Sorry I was thinking scary!

Snuggleup · 16/08/2026 19:32

Not a movie but, im coming to the cottage.

Freddiesfortune · 16/08/2026 19:32

The “see me now” scene In Bram Stomer’s Dracula. I wish it wasn’t, but it’s my favourite film for nanny reasons (I don’t see it as about love, it’s quite more like madness, but I love that bit so much).

The mist part is good.
