Im sure they'll be lots of judgement on here as always but here we go

I really wish I hadn't married my 1st husband. He was a loser and still is.
I find 99% of kids so dull

OP posts:

About 75% of people who say they can't work do every day tasks, or basically function properly due to some anxiety disorder are at it.

It's fine........best not tempt fate!

That I am stuck in a rut that I’ve been in for years and I don’t know what to do. I take antidepressants for PMT but I still feel like I need something more. I drink or take codeine to make myself feel better … not to excess and not every day but I like the buzz… temporarily then I feel guilty and headachey or hungover and regret it and the cycle starts again. I don’t know how to get a natural high and I don’t know why ‘normal’ general day to day life isn’t enough to make me happy :-(

That I'm sceptical of the number of women getting diagnosed with ADHD in their 40s, who are working and managing families.

I absolutely believe in ADHD and that it's accurate for some, but I think the sheer overwhelm of all these things at a time when your body and brain starts is struggling with extreme hormonal fluctuations is probably a more likely culprit.

Periodically I have to check that my telekinetic powers still haven’t surfaced! I try to push a door, or summon the tv remote with my mind. Subconsciously I am convinced that I have these dormant powers because I’m also a tiny bit disappointed when it doesn’t work.

Me too!!!!!! I’ve been trying for years to move random objects with my mind. I’m sure I can but it just hasn’t happened yet 😂

FlamingoQueen · Today 09:14

I would like to be happy! Too stressed all the time and just genuinely sad - but mask it.
Also, I sometimes wish that I could pull over and stop when in the car and then push a button and teleport myself home instead of having to drive. I then realise that I would just be sat in a lay-by until the end!!

I agree. There’s also a part of me that thinks even if you do actually have ADHD you’ve survived the hardest part. Unless it’s absolutely debilitating I don’t think the diagnosis is usually worth the candle.

Myfamilydosentevenknow · Today 09:17

Ok when I'm on my own I will cup a fart in my hand and give it a good sniff.
And I love to pick a big crusty bogie, oh and I'm in my 50's and if any of the family do this I tell them that they are bloody disgusting.

EndlessSeaViews · Today 09:20

I very much judge all of my friends who have bought puppies from any old breeder they have found online.

Most people I know never once vetted the breeder, they simply purchased a puppy based on the breed and look of the dog and spend a small fortune to boot. If it wasn’t for people like them (and the thousands of others) we wouldn’t have the huge issue we now have with packed rescue centres, overbreeding, dogs with terrible behavioural issues (this also boils down to many people knowing absolutely fuck all about owning a dog) and certain breeds with awful health problems (yes, I’m looking at you Claire, did you really have to get a bulldog with such a flat nose? The poor thing).

Imo, there needs to be strict rules for breeding and everyone should have dog licences and many breeds need to go into extinction, people need to think about the animals and not their own needs or because they simply want a cute accessory or Tik Tok content.

Beingseenisneedy · Today 09:21

People having their dogs in every photo annoys me and stops me buying whatever they're selling.
Vinted, Ebay, magazines etc.

Opticianjoe · Today 09:22

I genuinely believe so many people have kids because it’s a societal expectation, not because they actually want them.

Secretsquirrel2 · Today 09:24

I think working after 60 is idiotic.
There are no jobs for younger people because older people can't access their state pension so they work on. Most have done 40 years of NI contributions. Whoever came up with the idea of increasing the state pension age should be sent to work on a building site ten hours a day. Forty years doing that? Not a chance.
My brother died at 54. He didn't get his state pension.

Not everyone should go to university.
Our medical graduates should get first dabs.

the80sweregreat · Today 09:25

I don’t think that many people I know are particularly happy. People want too many things in life ( myself included) and my own Dh gets a high from buying a motorcycle or car , but it is short lived as the ones he really wants are out of his price range! I’ve learnt that you have to love what you already have and be grateful, but oh for a pool or hot tub during this summers heatwaves. Some people are just lucky to have money to have what they really want in life and not just pretend it’s fine not to have it and never will

Cherryio · Today 09:25

No I don’t care about your kids, stop sending me photos of them, I don’t think they’re cute, I don’t want every conversation we have to be centred around your children. I’m friends with you because I like you, not your kids.

No new reservoirs have been built in the UK since 1992, and the population has increased by something like 10 million in that time. It rained constantly the first few months of the year so we should have plenty of water. That we don’t should wake everyone up to the fact that governments are comprised of useless career politicians who have no idea of managing anything, don’t really work for us or a combination of both.

Blame the NIMBYS and some politicians. Thames Water have been trying to build a reservoir near Abingdon for years. Objections in local papers recently were about it not looking nice. The ridiculous Leyla Moran MP has objected from within government saying it is not needed.

I totally get this (minus the husband as I no longer have one) but that feeling of being totally unappreciated.
I only exist as carer to my severely disabled son. I'm no one beyond trying to manage his behaviours ( non verbal teenager with the developmental age of a toddler) and changing his incontinence pads. I don't get any respite.

Both my sons have additional needs. When things are hard for them I love them with all my heart and try my best, I have to do so much for them. When things are going well for them they think I'm awful, boring, embarrassing and requesting simple chores is apparently being controlling.

Also I kicked DH out last year. Everyone thinks I'm awful but it's so much more peaceful without him. He comes around to see the boys though and to tell me how amazing he is.

When I ride my bicycle, I like to pretend I’m riding a horse. I have a whole cross country course on my commute to work with different speed bumps as jumps and sometimes I score myself for the approach. As I run through the Greenwich Foot Tunnel pushing the bicycle, I’m competing in the in-hand section of the gaited pony show.

It passes the time.

Suicide is one of the most selfish things you can do- particularly if you have kids.

I will never ever ever forgive my Mum for what she did to me and and my siblings. I hate her for it. Your problems might have ended but you’ve just created a life time of even worse ones for the people you’ve left behind. She didn’t deserve a memory seat at my wedding, if she wanted to be there she could have been. She made a choice. She chose a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

In a similar vein I wouldn’t mind a bereavement so I could get some time off work. Not anyone I actually care about, but my FIL would be quite convenient, he’s an old wanker anyway

I work somewhere that loves its 'one big family' vibe. In reality it is super-cliquey and I daydream about the swingeing exit interview I will never give where I get to tell the most superficially 'lovely' but innately super nasty people what I think of them and how I saw through their games long ago. Keeps me sane! There are other compensations to working there and its my last job before retirement, which also in some way makes me sad because if I were younger, I'd be off like a shot.

You have no idea how much mental agony she was in or whether she was thinking clearly.

I am in my 40s and genuinely think I probably have undiagnosed ADHD and/or autism. But everyone my age seems to be getting themselves diagnosed right now so I worry if I told anyone they'd roll their eyes and think I was jumping on the TikTok bandwagon.

summershere99 · Today 09:40

I don’t think my nephew really has ADHD. He’s had no boundaries or consequences for his entire life and the diagnosis is a convenient way for my Dsil and DBIL to avoid dealing with his behaviour or parenting him properly. Now everything is due to his adhd.(I do have friends with kids who have adhd who don’t behave like he does)

Also, I fear for the future when there will likely be so many adults with disabilities/ diagnoses who are seemingly unable to work. The benefits bill will continue to skyrocket and there will be even fewer tax payers to pay for it.. I have no idea how it will ever be reigned in. I don’t believe the figures often quoted on here about a tiny % of the population having autism or adhd. Almost every poster on Mumsnet seems to have at least one child with SN.
