For me it was that I used to be addicted to crack, heroin, cocaine, morphine, amphetamines and alcohol, and I quit cold turkey when I realised I was pregnant. I basically swapped those addictions for food. Took me a while to realise that.
I was addicted to those things after being trafficked into prostitution in my 20s by a man I had thought was my boyfriend, sold to up to 10-15 men a night for years and years, before he tried to beat me to death with an iron bar because I was too old to be profitable.
I ended up in a mental unit, then homeless, I was already an addict and just carried on. Having my daughter saved my life really.
I've lost 4 stone since 2024. 4 more to go.
This whole story is what I can't admit in real life!
My family, who I only really got back a couple of years ago, would absolutely never speak to me again if they knew. They're of the "She was asking for it" school of thought.
We don't live in the same country so they had no idea what was happening.
It's hard enough being fat in front of them, they think that's a moral failing as it is.
