Im sure they'll be lots of judgement on here as always but here we go

I really wish I hadn't married my 1st husband. He was a loser and still is.
I find 99% of kids so dull

I think graduations are dumb. Finishing school/university is what you're supposed to do. Why are we celebrating this bare minimum achievement?

But not everyone graduates from university so it is an achievement? That level of graduation and above are really the only ones that are an achievement in the UK. It's slightly different in other countries regarding high school graduation, but graduating from nursery?

It's cute, but ridiculous!

I have stealth quit my job
I live my daughter but being her mum is a living hell at times

Happyjoe · 11/08/2026 22:58

I have watered my lawn once a week with sometimes the hose (at 2am!), sometimes the watering can. It's very small, 4 steps long to walk it, 2 steps wide. But it's full of clover which is what our inherited tortoise likes to eat a lot of. I've let some of the grass grow long too because the cat likes to eat it as she's very poorly and always feeling sick.. and there's no grass anywhere to help her. I try to justify it because it's animal feed/care but I do feel bad.

I also don't like children much, esp young children. I hate the sound of their screaming voices, it's like nails down a chalk board and I especially don't like some parents these days, doing a terrible job bringing up their children.

I have my own business with my husband, it's been amazing for my family, but I'm 60 next year and really can't see a way of getting out of it . Today I spent all day today fictitiously training someone...I couldn't stop the training dialog in my head - I think I'm cracking up 😂😂

I wish I had never come into existence. (No I’m not depressed, ND or perimenopausal.)

I suspect more people feel that way than we realise, it’s just not something you say out loud. I can honestly say, without being melodramatic, that I wish I had never been born. I’m not even depressed. On the contrary, as I type I feel fine. I just think life is awful - an utter horror show - and that it’s better never to exist.

When I look at my own future, I shudder. My mother is about to enter her 80s, and I am about to enter my 50s. The human body is a piece of sh*t that constantly breaks down and tortures us in countless ways, and the older you get the worse it gets. Our medicine is a joke. Frankly, we’re still in the medical dark ages. We can’t cure a goddam thing. Cancer, Alzheimer’s, MND, depression, hair loss, insomnia, Parkinson’s, you name we can’t cure it. I dread the next 20 or 30 years. I wish there was some way out, but there isn’t. Too many people love and depend on me.

We really ought to think twice before we inflict life on a child.

HideousKinky · 11/08/2026 23:00

That I really dread my DH dying before me.
I know he would cope OK without me because he is far more self-sufficient but I fear I would struggle dreadfully without him and become kind of rudderless and I don't want to become that awful sort of elderly mother who leans on her children too much

Don't feel guilty animals are precious.

When I ride my bicycle, I like to pretend I’m riding a horse. I have a whole cross country course on my commute to work with different speed bumps as jumps and sometimes I score myself for the approach. As I run through the Greenwich Foot Tunnel pushing the bicycle, I’m competing in the in-hand section of the gaited pony show.

It passes the time.

That one of the reasons I'm so happy I have DS now is it puts men off. I'm now fatter and greyer than I was pre DS, and determined to stay single. I don't want to share a house and compromise my way of life. I've also got the ick with men in a really big way, because of the way women and children suffer at their hands.

WeAreNotOk · 11/08/2026 23:04

Somehow my brain doesn't let me think too far into the future. I've been married 3 times but to me they are separate identities of myself. I could probably marry another 3 times and think nothing of it. I can't tell anyone that's how I feel. Right now I'm on me V5. I'm not reinventing myself but just classifying periods of my life. Life is for living and I want to live my best life.

Maybe it's because your 29 year old son is living home you feel the need to smoke cannabis?

If any of my children are still living at home when they're 29 I'll definitely be skinning up 😂

Nofeckingway · 11/08/2026 23:05

I am so jealous of people with normal happy lives . Feel like I never had this .
I dislike my DD as she is incredibly self absorbed
I don't think I really love anyone or would be devastated if they were gone
I think I am a bad person who tries too hard to be good .

Olive123456 · 11/08/2026 22:47

Same, apart from I have said it out loud and had the conversation with my adult children.

I’ve told my husband and made vague mutterings of “ I’d never put you through that “ to the girls re what I went through with my darling dad but not as straightforward s I’ve been on here….at least I’m not the only one who feels this way…un MN hugs to you x

That's fair, 100%

Also one of the nicest things about getting older is that am now invisible to men. I love it. Leery comments, being looked up and down, tits stared out have all pretty much stopped. I always hated harassment like that.

Kevinbaconsrealwife · 11/08/2026 23:07

WhatNextImScared · 11/08/2026 21:41

Most people who are TTC or can’t conceive feel this way, it’s just that nobody is admitting it. I remember the feeling well when I was having trouble.

Oooooh yes my lovely ,felt that way for a number of years….x

AMatterOfInfiniteHope · 11/08/2026 23:09

That I really, really dislike my SIL. She’s rude, entitled, always plays the victim. Worst of all my parents have helped DB & her out such a lot (practically & financially) but she is never grateful and can be so critical of them when they do so much with the best of intentions.

I think DB has been squished down by her too. He’s kind of just a shadow of himself. I can’t say anything tho cos my DM would be sad.

NC4023 · 11/08/2026 19:30

Are both your families and friends OK with that? No criticism from me - I think it's brilliant!

They would not be okay with it so that’s why I don’t say it out loud!

Illegally18 · 11/08/2026 23:10

yogpot · 11/08/2026 17:02

Because it’s just not who I am. If I had been braver, had more self knowledge, I would have realised I was always at my happiest single. I got married because I wanted, in a way, to prove I was worth marrying. There would have been better ways to find validation. I wasn’t brave enough to seek them.

I believe that's one of the main unspoken motivators of marriage.

twilightermummy · 11/08/2026 23:11

IsThisLifeNow · 11/08/2026 22:02

That I regret my children. I know how awful that sounds, but its complicated.

My STBEXH came out as gay last year after 8 years married, together 10 years, and it's absolutely destroyed me. I'm so angry he's used me and my fertile years to have kids. He had relationships with men before we got together, but didn't mention anything about to me at all.

I was happy and childfree before him. I never signed up to be a single parent yet found myself one and feel so trapped.

I wish I could go back and never marry him. I just feel my life is over. I know I could meet someone else, but I also know I will never trust anyone every again or put myself in that vulnerable position

Strangely enough, the exact same thing happened to me. I've been quite bitter in the past about how he used me in a multitude of ways, because he was too much of a coward to live the one life that we all get, honestly and freely. We were together for 7 years. I think there should be some sort of law regarding doing this to someone. I know that there won't ever be but it's completely immoral. I don't know whether to be open with the children about it. It's an awful position to be in.
Anyway, love to you ❤️

blinkisbirthday · 11/08/2026 23:12

I wish I didn't have such an offensive opinion.

I think children are the meaning of life and I feel incredibly sorry for those who don't feel that warmth, love and nurture for children.

I also feel that although the earth is overpopulated, I don't see the point if you don't have kids.

I feel that having children, who have children, who have children, that part of me will stay alive through them once I am gone.

Most of my friends don't want kids

Fieldmiceears · 11/08/2026 23:13

For years I have had in depth romantic fantasies about a man swooping in and saving me from my life. I would never admit that in the last 2 years I gave in to the urge to do this about a man I know in real life. I felt guilty and disgusted at first but couldn't stop. He made the mistake of being kind to me once. I just wanted that feeling to last a bit longer.

I worry that I'll never recover when my parents die. I had a very normal 1970s childhood, my parents never had much money but my siblings and I all agree that we had a wonderful childhood. We all felt completely loved and accepted just as we were, and we still do! I'm married with my own children now but I still feel so loved by my parents and I can't imagine my life without them
