Every single person I speak to where it comes up in conversation skirts around it a bit then as soon as one gets whiff of the other not being happy with these men arriving the conversation explodes of how unhappy they are and will absolutely be voting reform. I'm really not exaggerating at all, I hear it from men, women, teenagers, work colleagues, my customers, people in the street. It really feels like the only people who don't agree with reform are people on mumsnet 🤷‍♀️

However I absolutely don't want to derail this thread with politics. Its a great thread. It's just what I see all around me but don't want to turn anything into an argument on a really interesting thread.

Maybe it's because your 29 year old son is living home you feel the need to smoke cannabis?

I don't hate my birthday but I don't feel like celebrating it either. I bugger off by myself for a week to Greece on my birthday week to avoid the "fuss"

If I see the boy that bullied my son I’ll gladly kick you in the shins. You made our lives hell let alone his and there is a reason an ex police officer was with you at school 1:1 you made our 7 year old loae 19lb of weight and had to go to a councillor because we thought his refusal to. Go to school was due to a fear of being sick. Thankfully we could remove him, sadly others couldn’t remove theirs.

I am always mentally comparing myself to other women regarding attractiveness. Literally every woman I meet, i will note if im more or less attractive than her. Its like a reflex I can't switch off.

That I feel completely trapped looking after my ageing mother. I love her, but I also resent her. I see no future for myself. By the time she dies, I will be old and isolated and finished. Please spare me all the cliches about having a right to your own life etc.

I actually feel a lot of resentment towards both my parents for the way they brought me up. My father had a traumatic childhood. He never felt loved or wanted, and when he was 14 his mother ran off with another man (the selfish old bag returned after a few weeks). Consequently, he had anger issues and abandonment issues. When he got a family of his own, he did all he could to stop us leaving him, including guilt-tripping and emotional manipulation. I was stifled and smothered and they had no sense of boundaries. I felt responsible for their happiness even as a kid.

I do this too. I think that women do. Luckily for them I am not that good looking and so no competition here! Lol

I did too. It's a secret only my OH knows and it's been a heavy burden to carry. It changed the course of my life for the worst and caused a whole chain reaction of events. At the time it was very hard to have no one to confide in.

I assume most women do this to some extent.

I have had a massive crush on my music tutor which I have internalised for secret cheap thrills for 8 years now. My marriage is complicated and turbulent and sometimes it’s absolutely unbearable. This I have crush has kept me going on lots of different levels.

I do this as well. I frequently get electric shocks from shopping trolleys /metal objects in shops and I become convinced it's my "powers" returning.

I read a quote once that women dress up for other women and I think that is true !

Thank you. I love my kids I really do, but I feel like I exsist purely to service them, that I'm just going through the motions of living till they are old enough not to need me then I can happily just kill myself and be done with it all.

I am clinically depressed and barely functioning. Pretending to be okay gets harder and harder.

Bedford really is shit!!

But it is. It’s fucking awful. It was bad growing up there in the 80s and 90s. It has steadily got worse and every time I have the misfortune to go there I am grateful we moved away when the DCs were small.

I’ve never been to Bedford, but I bet it’s better than Basildon or southend. Places that could do with some gentrification and money spent on them.

Babies and children under about 5 should be banned from flying unless there are extenuating, unavoidable circumstances that are evidenced. Flying with a baby or small child disturbs other passengers, renders them susceptible to all manner of infections and causes them severe ear pain. No idea how this would be enforced in reality, but oh my god, it is hell being trapped in a metal tube with a screaming baby or a bratty toddler having a tantrum.

I've done this too, ever since I was a little girl (and my bike horsey was called Trixie) - never really stopped!

This is awful to say but I think severely disabled people are a just a drain on society - from a financial perspective.
All religion should be banned.
Anyone convicted of domestic abuse/rape/child abuse should face immediate death penalty.
